I’ve always got that impression from Oz, from what little I’ve seen. I’ve never wanted to watch his show when it was on, and having him as the head of Medicare and Medicaid worries. I feel both programs will get worse under his leadership.

I’ve been on a privatized Medicare health plan since 2013 and I will personally say I haven’t had any problems with it at all. I get my meds, I see my doctors, covers inpatient what I need, medical devices, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Plan comes out of my Social Security at about $190 a month, I have minimal co-pays, I actually have no complaints. Now this is where I will complain/bring awareness; an external catheter for one time use cost about $.18 to produce, they sell at any medical store for about two dollars the 2.50, if I order them online through Medicare, I get them for $.42 apiece. The company I order them from then turns around and charges Medicare $9.85 for each one of those external catheters. I use one a day, they are clearly ripping off the government and that’s the crap that needs to be stopped, at the corporate level. Stop corporations from price gouging the government.

@@cindyshufelt There is plenty of waste to be cut from medical care, especially Medicaid.
My son is a paramedic in California. What they call ‘frequent flyers’ are the people receiving free benefits who use the ambulance as their taxi service. Fake an emergency, get transported to the hospital, pick up their drug, return home and rinse and repeat. All funded by taxpayers.
That’s not even getting into medical establishment fraud and padding, and keeping people ill and dependent on drugs.
We need a revolution. Hopefully we get it.

More than 800 doctors and hospitals have dropped Medicare Advantage because it is too difficult to get paid. I had it my first year of retirement and it cost me a fortune. I needed two CT Scans and an MRI. The nurse said they would not do the tests unless I paid at the time of service $300 for each cats an plus $275 for the MRI. Keep in mind that I'm retired so cost is an issue. I left Medicare Advantage as soon as possible and I would never go back. Please don't. You will regret it. Advise anyone you care about not to.

We need Medicare-For-All/a universal healthcare system in The United States! What's more "pro-life" then ensuring everyone living here has guaranteed affordable healthcare regardless of their job? If we all have access to healthcare, we would have the "freedom" to live long lives without having to worry about medical bankruptcies. Taxes will go up, but overall medical bills will go down. If some of us need additional healthcare, then we have the "choice" to acquire private insurance. If every other developed country (Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Israel, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, & New Zealand) can implement this system & save money, then why can't The United States do the same to help "Make America Great Again" for everyone when it comes to healthcare? Finally, if people in The United States die from a lack of access to affordable health insurance then we are failing our country's promise of defending "life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness" for its citizens as well as "promoting the general welfare" of everyone living here.

This I take it to represent what is happening across all purchases. The public institution is not an automatic solution. I think the issue is that it is acting like a private business because there is no detailed transparency. With modern methods, there should be full disclosure for public operations, but that is no where near the case.

Dr. Oz is not a great Doctor. He's been a grifter since he got his license to practice medicine. Research a bit deeper and you'll see. Also, when people talk about "lifestyle" that is a dog whistle for "It's your fault you're sick." That is an excuse to cut and spin things as though we don't deserve or need these services. You can anticipate that he will probably institute some very intrusive regulations that violate patient privacy and take away personal choices. He will try to get in-between you and your doctor when it comes to medical decisions. He will probably make it harder to get treatments covered by creating more hoops to jump through. So, let's make damn sure he does NOT get confirmed! Write your Congressmen and tell them to vote NO! (I have a background in patient advocacy, so can see it coming a mile away).

This. This is what scares me more than all of the rest of the issues we are facing or may possibly face in the future. My husband is disabled, & even with what Medicare is like right now, there are still services he needs that aren't covered. My worry over Medicaid is even larger. My oldest child is in remission from cancer. I found out Medicaid may be dropping the hospital she receives treatment through next year. Why are they dropping it? Because it's a non-profit hospital, so no money to be made. This hospital offers a new form of radiation therapy that is much less harmful on patients. Because of this, my daughter won't have to live in constant fear that every new freckle or blemish is in fact a new form of cancer caused by regular radiation therapy. If her cancer comes back, she's not going to have access to this form of treatment now.
Money is king, & fuck everything & everyone else, I guess.

Social Security is supposed to keep people out of poverty after 35 years of work. How does a lifelong worker have only 1300 a month and own nothing else? Especially the boomer class. The issue is we are a very fat and unhealthy country. Most people can exist on the median SS check if they move out of HCOL areas. It's not a retirement plan and never was.

It's 1.5% for an overall 15% rate. Getting rid of the employee contribution would be insane and a massive wealth distribution move up. This is directly for the donor class who is self employed. They talk about small business owners and their "employees" like that's the vast majority of self employed anymore. These days most small businesses are just ICs or contractors, especially as you get outside the restaurant business. They aren't directly employing anyone.

Don’t think I’ve ever cried so much during a true crime case. What happened is disgusting. I don’t get how killing someone doesn’t get you life in prison especially pre meditated. Stalking someone should at least have you put on an ankle monitor to make sure you don’t get close to the person they had been stalking. The system to protect women doesn’t exist.

Ana interviewed him, as supposedly one of our top health gurus, along with another medical guy (Nov 2017 ... I keep good notes, heh). He's had the big C and the other guy did not look healthy at all (kind of obese). And I laughed about it in a comment (that this is all she could come up with for "expert" health advice). Ya' see, that's the problem, you still cling to our "health care" system as the end all be all. They may be experts with drugs and cutting, but they don't know jack squat about real health CARE (see their health). So what's truly needed is more DIVERSITY in that system (along with nixing or at least countering the profit motive). We need OPEN MINDS (feminine energy), more people LISTENING (feminine energy) to the real-life experiences of others (at some point, anecdotal evidence is exceedingly compelling, and just plain stupid to ignore it). That's one thing oz has going for him (RFKJ, same). He's open-minded, and willing to try the alternative stuff (the "alternative" arena is feminine energy, anything different). And you, the ignorant, closed-minded ones (mock the idea of "lab/leaks" and "UFOs" .. both of which you were wrong about). You, the "broken brain" ones... Well, girlie, ya' know how you prevent that broken-brain thing (and to prevent ultimately being proven a fool)? You stop mocking what you're completely ignorant about. Those things where your only sources of info have mega financial interests in keeping people ignorant about them. You keep an open mind, despite something that sounds "kooky" to a "broken brain" (brainwashed). How do I know? Because it's the only reason I'm still alive. Trying the "alternative" stuff. And there are a lot of people out there with the same experience. But you wouldn't know, because you don't research that deeply. You think you already know. Psst. you don't.

And that medicare advantage has let people die that I know of even when those deaths were absolutely preventable. Don't do medicare advantage it is really really bad.

Oz might be a doctor but he certainly isn't an economist. A 20% wage hike which is what a 20% payroll tax is, would be inflationary. To use Walmart as an example wages around $35 billion, net profit around $11 billion. So at 20% payroll would mean prices need to rise around 2% to maintain a similar profit. Obviously everything supplied to the store would be more expensive because the entire supply chain within the US would have higher wages that need to be covered and things like store fit outs also more expensive. So the idea would just mean low income people can buy less, it would be a nice fit though with Trump's tariff plans which have exactly the same effect.
