Also, my head can't wrap around the idea of weight and high speed movement against all of the stuff inside of this house. Which makes this far more amazing and magic-like for me.

Will this pass an inspection?
@@daelusx I thought about that too but then I realised it's made to haul around the weight of more than 50 people. The weight will be the least of their worries, they used the wrong materials for something that will be subject to a lot of vibrations and different weather.

Song at the end sums up the build quality... "when everythings made to be broken" 😂😂
Not to mention the destruction of everything structural.
I'm genuinely curious about two things: The added weight of the drywall and tile in comparison to other materials more commonly used in RV builds - usually people avoid these due to the weight cost - and the durability of these materials after putting some miles on the vehicle. Flex and vibration are notorious enemies of tile and drywall, as well as doors and windows made for homes instead of RVs. I genuinely wish you well on this, but if the experience of other schoolie builders means anything, you may be presented with some unforseen challenges.
I hope he drove it over some certified scales with all the tanks fully loaded! Ya know, to make sure the tires are within their limits and such, gotta be safe! I'm sure the gvwr will be sufficient, but sometimes weight has to be shifted around or tires upgraded to higher load ratings, etc.
I totally agree ! 👍
Absolutely! Been living in lorry's for 15 years+ there is a lot of flex and movement, also after a couple of showers and washing up that small water tank will need filling, especially if like they said there both going to be showering every day !
yep. very true. it may be good on weight, likely has over 30k gvwr but a few bumpy dirt roads and that floor could start to crack.
Not that will happen in Mexico Lol not here .
The amount of work, dedication, blood, sweat, and tears this project took...to then cap it off with you asking the woman you love to spend the rest of her life with you......this is life at its' finest....summed up beautifully, even poetically - enough to stir the soul of this old man to misty eyes.

Yeah the build is just throwing money out the window. You can have a real house with 3 accomplished builders and all the money they put into that bus. This bus must be parked somewhere and LEFT on the ground, because all those tiles are gonna crack if you'll be doing actual driving. You can't stand in the bedroom. You can't stand in the office. The couch can't fit 2 people. There's very little storage. Its impractical and overpriced but its cool and it makes money as content.

Very nice job. I was a truck and bus mechanic for 45 years, and I was very impressed with your creativity and work.
If you don't mind me asking a few questions.
1. What was your GVWR when completed?
2. With the flex of the vehicle, are you concerned with your tile cracking? Did you do anything special to prevent it?
3. Like cabinets and drawers, did you install special catches to prevent them from opening when driving?
4. Were the items you used like electrical, etc. meet FMVSS?
5. While I liked your roof raise, I think I would have put some structure bracing so your panels did not have some of the ripples, but that was just me. I give you 95% on overall job young man. I would be interested in knowing after you have driven it for a while if you have had any structural flexing that has caused you any issues? I worked building Ambulances years ago and when we cut the tops out of the Ford van to put the fiberglass raised roof we had to do some actual supporting to compensate for flexing and when we relocated the seat belt mounts when we put the header wall in we had to do so special testing to mount seat belts. Of 😢 were considered a manufacturer and in order to get Ford to sign off we had to meet certain criteria. We were using Ford chassis that were designed by Ford to be converted into ambulances.
One last thing I'll share with you. We ran Leece Naville alternators. 200 Amp systems, and we would take the diodes out of the case and use Delco diode rectifiers out of 100 Amp altinaters, wired in parallel and remotely, mounted them in the grill for cooling. This would give us great cooling and a bullet-proof charging system even at idle. That is only an option should you have a problem keeping those batteries charged up for your electrical system. I would be glad to give you more in-depth info if you DM provided you need it.
Overall, I think you did a great job, young man, and what an awesome project for you and your dad and friends to do. All the best wishes to you, and congratulations on the engagement. May you have many years together.
Have a blessed day.
I was thinking the flex will completely shatter the structure
@droogiesouls8635 I am more concerned about an accident and what may happen. Having been involved in the manufacture of ambulances, trailers, and other things, one of the most discussed with engineers and corporate litagaters was liability. So of the testing we had to go thru was extensive. Not to be a Debbie downer. I am concerned about some things. I wonder if the company who insured it had any concerns. Wiring, burn rates, crinkle points, etc.
However, the creativity was great, and the overall quality of work was nice, and the commentary between friends and family was priceless.
hey john, this bus build was done mostly for video purposes - they aren't actually going to live in this full time by any means. hope this helps
@humble_frog 10-4 I would not have a problem living in it, just driving around in it.🤣 I kind of understand your point, but all of this video stuff is beyond my understanding I just and old guy. Your generation has carved out a notch, and your creativity is awesome. I wish I understood more about it, but for me, it's a lot of fun watching young individuals like yourself expressing ideas and ingenuity. I am by no means being critical. My expertise revolved around safety, liability and trying to identify anything that might be hazardous.
Thank you for the feed back, keep up your creativity.
Sincerely
@@johndavis318 These are all very valid concerns John. If you look when the leave the house the added panels have all distorted from their original install and any coach master would physically cringe watching the making of and point out the 1000 errors made in building it. All of the money used to build it would have been better suited to be spent at a coach builders built to regulatory spec with the proper procedure and materials 100p. This is a pimp my ride of campers and I imagine Tavarish will buy it in a few years to rebuild it to proper spec for content farming.

Just like many others who commented, I'm happy for you. However, there were many red flags with this build; mainly the weight capacity, the choice of materials keeping in mind that the chassis will contort/flex, and the option to use battery banks, rather than solar & battery bank combo.
Good luck, out there! 🥰🙏
My thoughts exactly. 800ah is quite a bit, but only relying on DC to DC charging with the amount of things he has in it, he'll find out real quick it isn't enough. He has a ton of real estate for solar panels, and should've added a port for shore power.

Awesome build btw. Just great work. Well done. ❤
Looks absolutely sick and best ending ever to a video. My two concerns (1) obviously the weight added in terms of safety. Like that thing weighs at least 5x its designed weight and how the bus frame can hold, (2) is that you installed four large batteries right below where you sleep. Hopefully nothing ever goes wrong, but it’s literally like sleeping around gas cans. If something goes wrong and battery fire starts. It burn hot and fast quick.
Omg I was thinking the same thing with the batteries and also was surprised they didn't use solar (I was like "well where is the solar panel gonna go?" and they never put one) .... I'm already scared of using a powerbank in bed for my phone, and they are p much sleeping (mattress and blankets and all) on massive fire hazards like it's nothing.
He needs to encapsulate battery compartment and vent it outside.
the weight shouldn't be an issue. school buses can handle a lot more weight than you think. i'd give it a solid 20k lbs in cargo weight. the batteries, yes, don't know why he put them under his bed, should've been on the other side near nothing else very valuable.
Yeah, I thought about that for a moment but then I realized that school buses are designed to have 50 to 60 kids. That's easily 6,000 or more pounds. Plus the weight of the chairs that they removed. I'm guessing that it's semi similar. Also they removed a lot more glass. I think they're probably okay but I was very curious on the weight before and after.
I thought the exact same thing. Plus, to be sleeping on top of all of the EMF can't be good for their bodies.
This really shows that humans are capable of quite nearly anything with ingenuity and a whole lot of sheer will. Congrats and I’m so happy the outcome was way beyond what I was expecting when seeing this in my recommended haha

Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness in your beautiful, unique home! ❤❤❤
Unintelligent and dangerous thought is well just irresponsible. You might want to read the critical but well-meaning comments and educate yourself a bit. So what sort of parent places his children in a death trap. Is that beautiful, wonderful, encouraging... ah the poorly educated. Sadly this build is just full of regret yet to take place.
This would be nice parked somewhere for a permanently placed tiny home, but not sure about driving it around with all the added weight. And, tile on the stairs says slip and fall hazard to me with big red letters. All of the batteries could pose a fire hazard … sorry, but yes. And, the passenger seating in the cab … don’t get me started … LOL. I hope you never get stopped. Again, you have created a great little space to park and live in , but not drive around. Other than the safety concerns, you guys did a great job. It looks beautiful.
The weight is just fine, a bus of this size, being a full-size school bus, can take a maximum vehicle weight of 36000 pounds, and this thing is almost certainly under 16 tons. That rating is what the bus is rated to suffer over its lifespan routinely without issue, and even go over that if its ever needed. The batteries are also LiFePO4, which only emits at worst a candle flame when impaled by a long nail, its nowhere near as dangerous as Tesla's NMC battery packs which explode with white flames within two seconds of puncturing and heat up past 650 Celsius in the process, but even so yeah some heat shielding and fireproofing around the batteries themselves would be a very good improvement. But otherwise, its all very good and the only real improvement beyond the shielding that needs to be put around the batteries (and the cabin passenger seat since I imagine this lovey-dovey couple wants to be beside each other on any long drives) is refitting the shock absorbers to be softer and adding solar panels that can be rotated out to clear the roof deck space.
Carbon monoxide / smoke alarm would also be nice to add.
@@theoxygencombustion7006 Oh for sure, you legally must have one in a house, for a motorhome with a proper fridge and stove and everything its basically a house in all the ways that matter so it definitely needs one even if it legally might not need one. I think combination smoke/CO alarms are available, I have one in my house with a 10 year rated battery built into it.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. This thing is cool, but it also breaks all sorts of road worthiness laws. A big one is the glass, which must be automotive grade tempered glass in RVs. It looks like they just used standard plate glass residential windows, which is a major hazard.
@@Avetho I'm thinking you're just a bit light on the weight guess.....
Yall did a superb job on that bus. I don't even know yall, and I'm so proud of you. I'm a bit late seeing this video, but Great Work! And Congratulations 💚💚💚💚💚
Wow, welding, carpentry, plumbing, electric. You guys don't mess around. Massive respect to you, your friend and dad. Enjoy the spoils.
It's going to rattle and shake, the windows will lose their seals before next summer... and it'll probably come in at 3 gallons a mile for the weight...
but it's a gorgeous build for sure!
Fantastic 😊
@@Faesharlynliterally the first thing that came to my mind too. The drywall will crack, the bathroom tiles will crack.
Cool idea but it’s not very efficient. As soon as the bus hits a bumpy section, it won’t take much to start cracking all these products that aren’t meant to in this environment.
@@TroungTran-g7v I'm genuinely surprised at the grouted tile
and *enormous* bwt.. because *THAT* is going to pressurize and *stink* in any heat, especially sloshing around in that giant mixer. There's a reason they're normally 50 gal maxcap.. most people have *no idea* what *five* gallons of black water smells like
@@Faesharlyn well all I can say that it’s refreshing to run into someone with common sense. I went through a bunch of these comments to see if anyone had a brain, like you and I. But it all seems like they’re too busy saying what a great job they did. The things people do for likes these days 🤦♂️
Friend: hey wanna hang out at ur house?
You:Sure! *pulls out a whole bus*
You ask your friend to hang at their house and they literally pull into your driveway.
"I'll come to you!"
😂
“You do not come to house. House comes to you.”

Never felt so insecure in my life… these 3 guys are all expert level plumbers, electricians, carpenters, masons, mechanics, architects, wood workers, fabricators, roofers, welders and riggers. I’m honestly speechless, people usually become 1 maybe 2 of these and hone that craft for their entire life.
Honestly, this stuff isn't that hard if you're willing to spend a couple days researching what you need to do prior to a job, and not taking a crack at it till you're fully confident. If you're not good at self learning, there's always night classes and stuff being ran practically everywhere. 75% of the difficulty is understanding how to do things safely and in a way that will last a long time
@@trotskiftw Yeah, agreed. I’d add that you may not get the knowledge to tackle every job but you can deffo get the basics and the knowledge needed to tackle the specific job you want to do. Thank good for RUclips, honestly. You can find a tutorial for pretty much anything!
@@hunyesmith03 Guys, it's all DAD. Take a closer look at the the dad, he's a very accomplished builder and he's the person behind his boys accomplishments.
Throw yourself into an apprenticeship with a carpenter, a machinist, or mechanic, and get first responder certified, learn to cook 5 great things and 2 desserts, read the whole Bible. ♡ you'll be fine. Keep your room and bathroom clean.
You can do it all it's cool but once you start trying this stuff fits easy. Even welding
Congratulations to you both hope you have a long happy, loving and prosperous life together. 🎉
This WHOLE thing was beautiful. From the craftsmanship, the friendship, to the proposal. Congratulations, you two. Many journeys ahead.
Fun fact, this is the first time I ever watch this channel and you definitely got my support. I’m impressed. You’re a real gentleman.
Thanks to all the little hands that helped you ! Those are the goat ! Thanks them the right way, they deserve it !
Dude from the bottom of my heart I’m so happy for you!! It’s hard watching this because I’m currently going through a divorce, but I just love this video!!! You and your family are so talented and you have a beautiful fiancé!! I would just encourage you to always stay positive like you are and never lose sight of what’s important in life like love for each other!!! Always love each other no matter what happens and learn to be great forgivers!! I love seeing happy people doing great things for each other!!! Much love man from Tillamook Oregon!!! Keep rocking!!
Having a father and brother like that is truly a blessing. spouse who has encouraged you on your path. I hope you guys have a long and wonderful adventure. Congratulations.
Awesome job man! I’d recommend looking into what’s called a buddy seat. It’s used in large farm equipment worldwide for a passenger to sit comfortably and it still folds away.
A man with the patience to build something like this is a gem for u girl,,, bless you both ❤
So beautiful. I’m crying 😭 with happiness for you both. And your ohana is awesome. Great job dad 🤙🏽
So proud of you, the blood, sweat and tears; your girlfriend waited patiently then you proposed. What a great man you are! Sweet, strong knit family!
I'm 60 years old (young) and this has got to be in the Top 5 DIY's I have ever seen and I watch a TON of RUclips content! SIMPLY MAGNIFICENT! And on that proposal, brother,......You Got Style & Class, BRAVO!
lol, you feel for fake youtube video, boomer. Go back to fakebook.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but this is how you should not convert a school bus. Buses are earthquake on wheels, so they shouldn't have put drywall in it, which cracks early. That is just one of many things incorrectly done on this build. They built it like a house, and you should build a skoolie more like a boat.

He didn't even get a beach side spot. Just the middle of the campsite XD. And she sat on a bench to get there. Novel but... all that for that? The thing will be broken very soon. It's a big waste of materials and effort, really.
Load it up fully people , stuff , including the tanks , take it over the scales and note your gross weight , check to ensure your tire ratings are sufficient, then perform a brake test . You owe this to the other people that will be on the road with you , JMHO
One big question is how much cargo capacity does this have after loading it up with all those heavy elements? Perhaps my desires are unique, but more toys = more fun!
Exactly what I was thinking (weight issues) and how about all that tile (walls and floors) cracking to pieces after a few thousand miles of flexing. Would love to see an update in a year or so if they use it often.
I'm very impressed with the workmanship going into this. Y'all killed it. It's like you guys have construction experience or something. I appreciate the use of proper PPEs too. Most people don't do that. Well done. I like the ceiling lift as well because it doesn't seem as cramped and you get a livable amount of space. Most homes on wheels just don't have that level of portability.
The things you can do when you make up your mind. Absolutely beautiful.
At 21:39 he said he doesn’t know how to build a couch after just turning a school bus into a mobile home😂
you can be a plane engineer and still have not enough knowledge to build a car
@@customizablemilk353 that’s true but building an plane and a car are both complex.. we’re talking about a mobile house vs a couch.. he obviously has the knowledge just never done it before.

Ok
Just the song made me tear up
people who can do this type of stuff amaze me. thank you for making this and sharing it with the world.
every bus renovation ive seen has ended up looking nice, but also cramped and unliveable. this one however, is the best one i’ve ever been that actually seems spacious
At 24:46 you can literally see the structural integrity of this build, It was nice to see a family who has some money spare no expense on materials but please park this thing asap
Literally the exact moment I went "ummm I don't think that exterior paint choice works to hide the flaws..."
The inside looks fantastic, but I don't know if I would trust it looking at the outside.
Thanks.
Im a subscriber.
Im trying to see the structural integrity flaws but i cant. Is it bending or something ?
Can someone please explain ?
I want to build one like this but would appreciate any info on flaws that you know of.
Thanks.
Anybody knowledgeable please reply soon.
@@smerk429the metal sheets aren’t straight they’re dented. Probably not the best choice
@@avarose833 , they could pop those dents out if they wanted to do that to the bus. You can even buy a thing that is called Pops-A-Dent that literally is designed to do that on dented metal.
@@avarose833 yeah, but the metal sheets aren't holding anything up; they're only providing shear support, like the thin board nailed to the back of a bookcase. They can have ripples and everything's fine.
1) Congrats!
2) Exterior doors should open to the outside. Not just to preserve space inside the living space but for safety. You never want to have to back up if you're trying to escape a fire.
Just to let you know it's uncommon for residential homes to have the exterior door open outward however i don't know what it is like for rvs and the like.
@@felixthefennecfox1944 Here in the Midwest we have regular doors and storm doors. The storm doors open outward.
No they should not.
