Hello Julia!!! welcome back to Argentina, I see you enjoyed our gastronomic habits! And thank you for making our customs known in the world!!! greetings from Mar del Plata
As an Argentinian I would say that at least half the price was the name and the place, you can find better restaurants that are cheaper, but I couldn't name one in Buenos Aires cos I haven't lived there for more then 10 years
I totally agree with you, there are so many wonderful places you can go in Buenos Aires for a less expensive price and still get great quality. One example off the top of my head is Madre Rojas. Thanks so much for watching!
Don Julio owns 'El Preferido de Palermo in Borges. I prefer it - great and varied menu. I'd sooner buy a very good steak and grill it at home (and splurge on the wine - many good wine shops in Palermo).
I love El Preferido we visited there for the Food Tour! It was so special. Splurging on the wine sounds lovely, I think that's a great plan. I love the wine in Argentina it's just the best!
Muy lindo el video..solo que esa música es del caribe, no es musica Argentina como el Tango, Folclore o Rock Nacional. Respetuosamente. Bienvenida a nuestro hermoso Pais. 🇦🇷⭐️⭐️⭐️
Muchas gracias por mirar, estoy de acuerdo contigo en la música. Estaba pasando por un momento difícil. Encontré buena música de tango para el video en el que estoy trabajando ahora. ¡Te agradezco que mires! ¡Más por venir desde Argentina!
I went to that steakhouse a couple of times, the first time it was amazing, but after they got the Michelin star the prices doubled and the service got far, far worse. The food was absolutely amazing, some of the best steak I've ever eaten, but that place is overrated for what you are paying.
When I first made a video featuring Don Julio, we received similar feedback in the comments, so it's clear that many people share your thoughts. That's why we decided to create this video, visiting twice to compare experiences and provide an honest look at what to expect, including the costs. This way, you can decide if it's worth it for you. We loved the food but each experience was different. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment!
The prices seem higher than when others reported. Was it because you paid with a foreign credit card? Also how much steak did you order and how expensive was the wine?
To make our reservation we gave a credit card but we did pay cash while we were there. The bottle of wine was about $30.00 and each visit we ordered two different steaks. I don't recall the size but there good portion. We visited in June of 2024. It just takes me a few weeks to get the videos edited.
Hi. I'm Argentinian and i would like to say this restaurant is pretty overrated. I would go to "Corte Comedor" in Belgrano neighboor is far better than "Don Julio". The simple reason that is cheaper, the meat quality is same but appetizers, side dish and dishes that aren't steak is far far better. Cheers.
All opinions are welcome here, and I'll agree it's on the expensive side. I would politely disagree that it's a tourist trap. By definition, a tourist trap is a place that attracts and exploits tourists or is an establishment (or group of establishments) created or re-purposed with the aim of attracting tourists and their money. In my humble opinion, Don Julio has earned their stripes. Voted Best Restaurant in Argentina, Ranked #10 on the 50 Best Restaurant List and they have earned a Michelin Star. It's a little expensive because of their creditability and demand but I don't think they exploit tourists.
Decent review, but still trying to figure out why you used some carribean salsa at the beginning instead of some Argentine tango... Weird. Just research a bit!
I'm not sure... I know I have astigmatism, but I doubt that’s something you can actually see. I did inherit my father’s smile, though-when I grin widely, one of my eyes gets much smaller than the other. I don’t mind it at all, though; it reminds me of him. Other than that I'm not sure 🤷♀

One of them is Roldán. On Ave. Figueroa Alcorta. Amazing, excellent meat, very good service and a very good quality wine store.
Excelente video. Se me hizo agua la boca. 👍
¡Muchas gracias! Aprecio que te hayas tomado el tiempo de mirar. ¡Don Julio es un lugar maravilloso para disfrutar de un delicioso bistec!

Thank you so much for the recommendation, we'll have to check them out the next time we are in town. Cheers! Thanks so much for watching.
El Preferido de Palermo is better. I'd sooner buy a good steak and grill it at home. Don Julio cuesta demasiado.
tourist trap

Too expensive.
