I think mostly because HW is the most shallow male division. It's a bunch of old guys who passed their prime, and lack of new talents. If Overeem, JDS, Oleinik, Arlovski, etc were lightweights they would retire a long time ago. That's why a lot of people don't appreciate Stipe's resume. Personally Stipe is #1 HW goat to me. Yes, over Velasquez. Now we're seeing a couple new talents in the HW division, I think many old fighters will be released soon just like Overeem and JDS.
@@KannyNguyen But it's actually not shallow. Volkov, Gane, Rozenstruik, Lewis, Blaydes, Ngannou, Stipe, and up until recently DC, all of these guys would annihilate anyone from any other division save maybe the absolute top tier light heavyweights such as Jan and Reyes. Yes much of that is because of weight, but people are quick to forget that heavyweight has a ton of freedom when it comes to weight. You wanna come in at 220? You can. You wanna walk around at 300 and cut to 265? You can. That by itself creates variety. People don't need to be as specific in what talent they go with if they have that much freedom with their bodies. If you fight at 155, everyone is the same weight. You cannot have any advantage over them besides skill. That's why it seems more nuanced. It isn't. It's a different kind of nuance.
@Emerson Amaya heavyweight is highly skilled it's just different as they can't do all that fancy stuff the smaller guys do as all it takes is 1 shot to finish the fight. Those smaller guys can take bigger risks and throw crazy combos or be willing to take a shot to go for takedown because they have pillow hands in comparison
@Emerson Amaya Interesting discussion. Its also to do with sheer size. Variety of Skills plays much less of a role at HW, when you can shut the lights out at any time. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying they don t matter. Also, it is much more common to find people of normal size than absolute beasts, so naturally, the sample space for Talent pool of unusually big men is smaller compared to regular fellows :)
Its funny, how murphy s law applies. After the Izzy vs Jan fiasco, people are looking critically at 9 year old footage from Rogan and finding holes in his game. :D

A brutal back and forth war of attrition ensues in the middle rounds, with both fighters taking damage. 3. And finally, a devastating knockout victory, capping off what initially seemed to be an improbable comeback.

On Saturday we will hear “And Still” he’s criminally underrated on the ground and an elite striker. Sad he doesn’t get the love he deserves but maybe on Saturday he can shut everyone up... again
Hopefully they can update this video with a win over JJ on Saturday! Go Stipe!!!
Who thinks that JJ will finish easily Mioc don't understand what Miocic is capable... JJ is going to hit a Solid piece of Rock...
Have a shot every time Joe says wow
Drunk in 4 minutes!
I dint know he is so admired haven't watched his fights b4
Who remembers when they used to call him miosik
Right here brother
Them: Super Heroes don't exist
Stipe: What thjjfrr ggutdgyjikjjgdr
This guy seems defeated everyone
People forget that Stipe defeated Francis the first time and had Francis hurt the second time. Stipe went in for the finish and got hit with a bomb. I’m a fan of Jon, but this is a DANGEROUS fight.
Francis hurt stipe a lot in the first fight and Knocked Stipe tf out in the 2nd fight
I find it comical how pro-Francis all the UFC promos are. “Francis has just been KOing people all over the place!” Like what exactly do you think Stipe has been doing???
What do you think of that now?
@@xftbllplyr2091 I still think that Stipe KO'd a bunch of guys. Just because you lose a fight doesn't mean all your KOs get erased....obviously. Well it's at least obvious to most
Stipe is very underrated
Watching after Jones just beat Gane
Can't to see stipe vs Jones. Should be awesome. Stipe has crazy power. Jones is the best light heavyweight and one of the best overall, well rounded athletes ever in the fight game. They are both unbelievable
