"Rain", you had the best job in the world, being a Viper pilot ! Its a legend and block 50 is the perfect Viper variant. I know the F35 will one day replace the Viper, but many tears will flow when the last Viper is retired in the USAF. Here's my dream Viper, just for airshow fun and giggles: 🤔 F-16C, block 50, with the GE F-110-132 engine. 32,500k lbs. of thrust, from the block 60 for UAE. Increased AoA limits for better nose pointing authority. Variable exhaust/ thrust vectoring nozzle, much like the type GD or USAF tested many years ago on a Viper. Cobra maneuver capable. And lastly, somehow add additional internal fuel capacity, somewhere, perhaps with increased wing sq.ft. area, from the F-2 variant. Call it the SUPER VIPER !! What a beast !! Its hard to improve on perfection tho. Long live the Mighty Viper!!🇺🇲
The Su DEFINATELY had thrust vectoring nozzles. You could see them working at around 11.35. Those puffs of smoke are not surprising when you suddenly deprive the engines of forward air speed and drop the air coming in. No problem with it happening there. You'd only do that to evade a missile or Anti aircraft barrage so stealth is already not relevant.

@@TechandTools1 It all is your wishful thinking, sorry. Not real. Easy example where Su-57 is 100% superior to Raptor - bvr. Max range is vastly different. Su-57 carries internally stored R-37M missiles with a range of up to 300km. As for stealth, Raptor isn't gonna stay undetected in modern contested airspace, Russian radars will track it at long distances.
@Levon_RnD The BVR missle range the Su might have it. But how come Russian Air defense couldn't pickup the Israeli F-35's? Those have a bigger radar cross section than the 22. Sorry, we're just going to have to disagree. Not to mention how many SU-57's does Russia have, maybe 12. The US has almost 200 F-22's, so there's that as well...

It is important to understand that there are two different schools of aircraft construction, conventionally speaking, Russian and American. Each of these schools has its own philosophy in understanding what a modern air battle is. From this understanding, designers are given a task and technical specifications for the design. The American school sees the key to victory in stealth (at the expense of other important flight characteristics: maneuverability, load capacity, flight time, flight speed, etc.). Stealth and high flight characteristics are difficult to combine. Either one or the other. The Russians do not approach the stealth characteristics of their aircraft fanatically, not considering this a primary necessity at their level of radar development (they see stealth aircraft very well). Yes, for banana republics stealth technologies will bear fruit, but not for Russia (Russians see stealth aircraft with several of their radars. For example, the over-the-horizon radar "type Container" for example sees Israeli F-35 - these are very high antenna towers deep in Russia at a distance of several kilometers long - all this is one over-the-horizon radar. The Russians already have 5 of these and are building more. They are building a similar one for China.). Therefore, the Russians designed their SU-57 using stealth technology only from the front hemisphere, without STEALTH fanaticism, since the development of radars will nullify stealth technology (developed by the way by the Russian theorist Professor Ufimtsev). So the Russians know what STEALTH is and agree to use it moderately, while maintaining all the important flight characteristics.
American design is revolutionary. It tries to implement the latest technology and often incorporates radical designs. Because ultimately Americans love the latest gadgets. So they try to incorporate everything and cram everything into it. Which means often that the early prototypes and production runs do not live up to the hype and require excessive funding to make them work. And eventually they do because the Pentagon has a license to print money. Russian design is evolutionary. They have less money so they take what works well and build on that. And sometimes they get it exceptionally right, like with the Su-27, and a lot of successor designs flow from that. They also don't try to make that one design to do everything from the start and instead are willing to accept limitations. Better a specialist that works very well then a jack of all trades that is good at nothing. Which does not mean that over time that design cannot be adopted to do other things well too. But that is the evolutionary aspect of it.
Russian/Chinese etc planes are, to a large extent, incomparable to American ones. What is good for the first kind, tends to be bad for the second kind. And vice-versa. Think about it. The American and British school traditionally prioritised aggression, sneak attack, surprise, action far away from home. The Russian school prioritised defence, quick reaction, awareness, nearby action. That is why US planes have better flight times. That enables them to focus overwhelming concentrations in a place (they believe) there is the least resistance at a given moment. This came at the expense of afterburner power, manoeuvrability, risky experimental airframes, populist tastes in designs, creativity-by-committee, like in f-35 and the Shuttle; over-engineering. And also, stealth is more advantageous to them than to the defenders, because defenders are always expected. Also, they had to plan for offence against 2 very different opponents - post-colonial nations without an air force and recently industrialized nations with a strong military. Also, they need faraway bases, aircraft carriers, tons of refuelling and AWACS. Because of the enemy's profile, Soviet/Russian planes prioritized 1) carefully allocated and numerous airfields near the the periphery and key centers of their own country; 2) quick lift off; 3) better speed and ascendancy; 4) a more aerodynamic shape in general; 5) loaning and implementing only the tested innovations of the aggressor school; 6) leaning on support from numerous ground radars, 7) plus working in tight cooperation with a very strong ground air defence, since they are on their own home turf. The price is, they carry less fuel (to be fast) and have a shorter range, and less efficient engines. Historically, they tended to be smaller in size, in order to increase the numbers, and less comfortable for the pilots (since the flight time is shorter). The roles of the 2 sides create different limits. "Good" Western attackers are not the best defenders, and vice-versa, good Russian defenders cannot "project force" (that is, pose a counter-threat) so easily. The Eastern hardware may not be the best for selling to would-be imperialists in the Third World, which limits the market in big oil-exporters and the likes. It gives best value for money when "packaged" along with Soviet/Russian ground air defence systems. A plus for the world is that the Soviet school shortens the horizon of imitative imperialist fantasies that appeared in contemporary capitalist Russia. The weapons, inherited from the Soviet Union do not fit a punitive Shock and Awe type of operations that fits the West. On the opposite side, Western military planes are not the preferential choice for medium-income countries, who need affordable and sufficient defence (to pursue investment in developing their industry). This is why, in such markets, they are imposed only through political and military pressure. And are a danger to sovereignty. (For instance, Iran got stuck with mountains of American hardware and no reserve parts and ammo, because it had the temerity to depose the West-imposed Shah). Which creates a market for Russian exports. Offence is generally much more expensive and unpredictable in outcome. Defence is much more affordable, though it promises much less rewards (or loot, to use a better word). A good sword is awkward, if used as a shield. A good shield is cumbersome if used in place of a sword. Each strategy fits a different type of country.
Thank you for your fair assessment and not calling it (Su-57) what is not. You right, its a 12 years old prototype T-50/4 with 60% different internal structure, with old engines, no radar just mass simulator, no RAM coating and this aircraft was a 2019/20 testbed, performance of this aircraft was even more impressive knowing how many times this machine was reassembled after the tests. Why would Russia send proto-type like this to Chine? because they know hundreds of powerful radars will be tuned on this plane trying to get reliable image of it and exposed screw and bolts and other stuff (may be left on purpose) may just ruined that reliable radar image. Any one who believes Russia would send its latest copy of Su-57 in serial production to China (known to be copy/paste country) is naïve or just ignorant fool.

Not another yank pilot opinion , you’ll never fly anything like it . When you do then say something . Russians don’t have assistive launching so it takes off fully equipped from a short runway. Do you think they build a jet that takes off with only half its weapons or minimal weapons ?. I could go on forever at the tech differences. Let’s talk about the f35 that was built and put in service then realised going top speed peels the stealth coating resulting in hours of maintenance. The jets top speed had to be reduced to save repairs . Then less than a year ago it was exposed in the senate that 3/4 of the f35 is grounded due to maintenance issues. You only have 29% operational fleet ( your not at war or sanctioned and you can’t even keep your fleet flying) . Since the exposure another 4 have crashed ! 2 years ago the whole fleet was grounded due to ejector seat issues. Before you say am lying about it the video is called “ Matt geatz confronts airforce officials over the failed f35 program “ .what does the airforce admit too ? 29% operational fleet . You talk of a f16 , old Russian AA already shot them down so what do you think the new AA will do ? Then the felon air to air range is vastly more than any US jet ( gen 4 400km and gen 5 300km , so stealth helps but it doesn’t make it invisible ) . What’s your max range ? 180 km , that just a bit more than half the felons range. Wingman programs been halted ( it’s half the tech of Russian hunters ) . You could write an essay on the felons AI, you got no full AI jet . If you want to know the felon more then watch combat approved su 57 . At the end you’ll realise your years behind Russia in tech

Being an experienced pilot of a truly agile airframe, you can effectively deplete energy of adversary's missiles to shorten their radius by times. It's proven in real combat by crew of Su-34 - a bomber based on Su-27's DNA - vs Patriot, the only situation that sank in public so far. Betting on stealthy stuff only is just another one-sided and not so sophisticated approach moreover aimed at invading in contested airspace, not for self-defence

None of the U.S. expensive stealthy fighter jets can maneuvers like that. Hate all you want. Abraham javelin shadow missiles cluster, f16 jets himars Bradley name them. They're all in Putin's museum😂😂😂😂
Good video. Sukhoi brought the T50 because all the finished production standard SU57s are owned by the air force, which probably has more important things to do right now.
Commentator, apparently from America. It's hard to admit, the SU-57 is currently the best plane in the world, better than the F22, F35. F 22, F 35 were never in real combat. SU are yes...
What's more impressive is that the pilot is 62 years of age. Not a single American can do that in their prime piloting raptors in the sky not even the planes can do it.
Kudos to pilot Sergej when, at the age of 62, he can handle such a bird and make such demanding maneuvers with a heavy load, which many of his younger colleagues around the world cannot do.
« How bad is the SU-57 Felon »? Easy answer, we don’t know. We haven’t ever had access to a SU-57, the only airplanes, videos and pictures ever sawn were that of the TU-50 named “Blue”, which is an early prototype used in air shows to show its manoeuvrability. And as any prototype, the airframe has suffered a lot (that’s basically the role of a prototype, trying to break it and putting so many stress on it, but stop before it breaks, so as to know its limits). But when it comes to the SU-57, the production aircraft, we have a few pictures and videos that show that is hadn’t any defects on its surface but we have never seen one.
Stealthy planes are not necessary for homeland defense. Stealthy planes are definitely needed for offensive operations over foreign lands. Russia emphasizes defending against stealth technologies. It’s a testament to the ambitions of the East and the West.
Su-57 Crazy flying demonstration at ZhuHai Airshow 2024 is a better video to watch on youtube of it. I hate the airshow vids where the person filming is zoomed in so damn much.
You should also ask how good is US F series performances. So far nothing from US has impressed me like the SU-57. Any country thinking of confronting the cobra SU-57 better think twice of its venom.!
@@CremeDeLaMeme. I understand that. The airshow at the very least could've fenced it off from spectators getting too close. At Oshkosh there are guards with guns.
The plane which Russia has displayed in flight in Juhai is not Su-57 (serial built combat ready fighter), but its 4-th flight prototype (Stage 1 airframe testbed). It is not intended for RCS trials and is not a specimen for the production, 509 (10-th flight prototype) and 511 (12-th flight prototype) are. So you should pay attention to KnAAZ serial production facility photos if you wish to review or estimate the real Su-57 stealth abilities and surface quality. Those photos show serial production fighters not this one. Solid movable stabs and tailfins are adaptations for supersonic maneuverability rather than subsonic one. T-50-4 (504) is fitted with Item 117 (Al-41F-1) engines (don't miss them with Item 117S, Al-41F-1S for Su-35S). Su-57 fitted with Item 30 engines (probably will have Al-51F-1 index, but its not clear) will be seen from the next years Series 2 (Block 2) production block.
"Rain", you had the best job in the world, being a Viper pilot !
Its a legend and block 50 is the perfect Viper variant.
I know the F35 will one day replace the Viper, but many tears will flow when the last Viper is retired in the USAF.
Here's my dream Viper, just for airshow fun and giggles: 🤔
F-16C, block 50, with the GE F-110-132 engine.
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The Su DEFINATELY had thrust vectoring nozzles.
You could see them working at around 11.35.
Those puffs of smoke are not surprising when you suddenly deprive the engines of forward air speed and drop the air coming in.
No problem with it happening there. You'd only do that to evade a missile or Anti aircraft barrage so stealth is already not relevant.

Технологию стелс придумали в СССР.

Each strategy fits a different type of country.
очень приятная разборка проблемы радиозаметности.

The Actual Su-57 will be the Su-57M, it will feature the AL-51F1 engines. The current order for Su-57 by the VVS is 56 and that order is nearly done, it will be finished by early next year. The VVS itself said ''no more Su-57s without 2nd stage engines''. The AL-51F1 will be ready in 2025...
There's also the fact that Sukhoi built 2 more facilities for Su-57 production yet they are unused...because again, the engine is not ready.
Su-57M will be more than equivalent to F-22, the engines will be more powerful and it will feature stealth coating like some of the current operational Su-57s.

Americans don't merely understand why high maneuverability is still important today, especially for an air dominance plane. It's not only for dogfight, as they call it.
That audio was intense. No movie can capture the intensity of the situation that those pilots handled.
If a F-35 was in that same situation it would have been shot down due to it's poor maneuverability.

Su57 is like 100 years ahead of anything America has 🇷🇺😍
The plane which Russia has displayed in flight in Juhai is not Su-57 (serial built combat ready fighter), but its 4-th flight prototype (Stage 1 airframe testbed).
