i think the line "make america great again" deserves better respect.

I am from small town in Macedonia. To be fair i know many kids 16-19years old who were making at least 3-4k a month (to put in perspective with 600-700$/month you can live normal life). Many of them didn't even knew english they were copying and pasting posts from other websites.

Strange that the man Adams who authored the phrase "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" has no real monument in Washington D.C. being that he is most perfect representation of an American in spirit and practice.

I love how Buzzfeed went from meme website to shining beacon of investigative journalism because of this election.

I have a couple of friends who are college professors. One teaches political science and the other teaches chemical engineering. Both are liberals, while I lean conservative. Now, I don't have an issue with what they believe in, but they do tend to be stubborn when their political views are challenged, even to the point where they will show me fake articles to justisfy their beliefs.
You would think that as educators, their ethos should be to seek out truth no matter what form it comes. Even my chemical engineering professor friend - a trained scientist - was taught to prove a theory by performing every experiment that attempts to disprove it. That's being objective. If our best and brightest is swayed by fake news and is not open to debate & objectivity, then what hope is there for our future?

Disinformation is always going to be a problem and now with the social media you have parties, countries, and trolls getting in on the action a lot easier.

I never understand how people on facebook believe all those pictures that go around, that everyone shares with a random story attached. They have no details, no proof, only one person saying something, and they believe it just like that, its so pathetic.

I really dislike people calling the Emma Gonzalez picture fake news. It was clearly originally intended to make a point. I don't think it was ever published by a news source saying it was real. I know when I saw it, I thought it was cool, but I didn't think she actually did that.

Fake news in America is no where compared to fake news here in India....
People here have fallen for fake news for things which didn't happen in reality and riot like situations have taken place here .

I've spent enough time on the Internet to learn two words.
Trust no one.

I don't know if yellow journalism started in the U.S. But I believe the term was originally applied to the American news industry. Consider William Randolph Hearst's instigation of the Spanish-American War as another example.

even *I* have fallen for fake news here and there and i'm reasonable, good moraled, and cautious.

I just saw a Facebook post that said when Tim Tebow knelt during the National Anthem, he was protesting abortions in 2012, and everyone was praising him. Yet when Colin Kaepernick protested police brutality against men of color, he was blackballed from the NFL, despite both men exercising their rights to free speech. My Kaepernick-supporting friends believed this story.
The truth was that while Kaepernick did kneel out of protest, Tebow did no such thing. Tebow knelt not out of protest, but because he prayed before the start of the games. He also knelt in prayer during pre-game warmups or just before the game started. He never knelt during the National Anthem and certainly never knelt in order to protest something.
However you feel about the National Anthem and your right to free speech isn't the point that I am getting to. What I am getting to is to show how misleading things are out there. Someone was trying to link Kaepernick's actions with Tebow's actions, but they are completely unrelated.
When I pointed this out to some of my friends, thankfully some were swayed and admitted they were misled. Others still wanted to hold on to their bias, even when I showed them how misleading the post was. People want to believe what they want to believe, and they do not want to be objective. I hope that at the very least those of us here can look at life with objectivity.
