Ok, but cut them so slack as they’re trying, it’s their first time, fortunately Aussie are more tolerant toward German tourists when they don’t immediately understand the local rules, smh!

That not true. If there are no trucks or cars in sight, most people stick to the right lane. I don't know where you are driving but thankfully most germans follow this rule (except people going 200kmh, they usally stay on the left lane, which is fine with me.)
Wow, that's all of 74mph try only doing that in UK you will be mown over by commuters! Plus, eating or drinking while driving you will be arrested and fined!
130 is the recommended speed. And unless there's a clear sign that says go this speed or this, you could go faster, but if you crash, insurance may not support you
You can't really see if you are sticking to the right most lane on the Autobahn, but in the only front shot in the video, you were on the middle Lane with no cars in sight in the right lane. In Germany (and most other European countries) outside of city limits only the right lane is for driving and the others are for overtaking only. Rule of thumb is no more than 45 seconds without cars to the right of you, if you are on an overtaking Lane. Not sticking to the right lane results in a 80€ fine and a point in Flensburg (8 Points mean a driving ban in Germany). Also, 120km/h is indeed pretty slow for a non restricted Autobahn section 😁
Jude Lion didn't think about MPH actually, but if they were overtaken by so many people and especially delivery vans, 120km/h is much more realistic. There are not a lot of people on the Autobahn doing more than 150km/h (120mph would be 190km/h)
szoszk yeah you're right! I would never go a hundred and twenty miles an hour in the rain! however on a nice clear day on Dry Road I would probably go 130 /140 miles an hour on the Autobahn! [If I would have a high end luxury car ,so you don't feel the rattle]
Flying The Nest If you are to scared to go any faster, why don't you stick to the right lane 🤔 (not to mention that you legally have to stick to the right lane as much as possible, especially because overtaking on the right is strictly forbidden, and fast cars don't expect you on the middle Lane)
Couple of rules for driving on an autobahn: -if the right lane is free: use it -never (and i mean NEVER) overtake on the right side, except for the case when you are in a traffic Jam -you only may drive as fast as you want if their is a sign that sais so (the crossed out speed limit/the grey crossed out sign) -before you switch lanes, look behind you as the people may drive as fast as they wann -The lane on the very very right is only for people who have to stop due to accident or car failure and you are not alllowed to use it -just dont be dick
"before you switch lanes, look behind you" however, on the autobahn, don't do that like you usually would. only turn your head and watch out to the back from the corner of your eye. do not turn your torso as with the speeds involved even a little unintentional jerk to the steering wheel can have disastrous effects.

Since you seems to be German, when Kennedy helt his speach in Berlin, did´t he said he were a Cake??Ich bin EIN Berliner, should´t it have been "ich bin Berliner??" (like..ich bin ein frankfurter/hamburger!!)
No. Ich bin ein Berliner can also be said by a Berliner. The sentence is ambiguous but the context makes it clear what is meant. As both senses ar more or less as likely, there's no oddness when hearing someone say it. It is possible to joke about the ambiguity but it has to be constructed. it is not automatic. To give a contrasting example in english. The word ejaculate nowadays always has a nasty meaning so it makes it very odd to read Sherlock Holmes and Watson ejaculating quite often in the books (23 times to be precise, but it only means “to dart or shoot forth; to throw out suddenly and swiftly, eject.” with no sexual connotation). So the oddity of an expression depends on the sense it has the habitually.

Im a Brit who has lived in Germany for three years at the moment and I’ve lived here on and off for a few decades. It is great seeing you get all excited about something I have become used to. The towns, the beer, the food, the people and yes, the Autobahn. All reasons why I am doing everything I can to stay after Brexit. And thanks for the town tour, I might have to pop into Quedlingburg next month when I visit Leipzig for a few days.
Fliptality I have, I lived in Celle for a few years which isn’t far from Lüneburg, I explored much of the area back then. (Celle is another great place to visit, also full of half timbered houses that were luckily unscathed during the war.) I also visited Lübeck a few weeks back, somewhere else that is definitely worth a visit.
I live in Wernigerode. Also a nice town. We have a nice town hall: instagram.com/p/BUEnqJBAanc/ (photo taken by me, hobby photographer). Just a few more miles from Quedlinburg.
hmm, thank you, thank you very much. not only was this video very lovely. but it reminded me of the beauty here in germany. living here you take things just for normal and dont appreciate its beautiness, but seeing it through your eyes helped me realize it. thank you and enjoy your travels ^^
People often think you may drive as fast as you want on the Autobahn, but this is only true if there is no speed limit of course. The delivery van and other drivers shouldn't drive that fast but then speeding tickets in Germany, especially out of town are rather cheap as long as you are not grossly over the speed limit (let's say 160 instead of 120...)
Well one might also mention that the speedometers in cars don’t show exactly how fast you’re going, they usually always show a speed that’s a few percent higher than what you’re actually driving. By law speedometers aren’t allowed to show lower speeds than what you’re driving but they can show up to 10% + 4 km/h too much. According to the ADAC on average the manufacturers show 4.7% too much, but it differs from manufacturer to manufacturer, e.g. for AUDI the ADAC measured a difference of 3.1% whereas for Nissan it was 6.2%. As a result if your speedometer says 120 km/h it might actually only be something like 114 km/h. www.google.de/amp/www.sueddeutsche.de/auto/verkehr-jeder-tacho-zeigt-die-geschwindigkeit-zu-hoch-an-1.3675876!amp
toureifel well these speeding tickets don't itch Swiss drivers. To them its like an entrance ticket for blasting through German AB's on high speed. I see that constantly on the A5. Although there's some parts of the A5 which are limitfree.
David Radtke Yes of course you can’t drive fast in Switzerland. If you drive faster than 200 km/h in Switzerland they can confiscate your car and it’s then the property of Switzerland... Not to mention that you might have to go to prison for it.
HingerlAlois yeah I know, but that gives them no right being rude on German Autobahn and blasting through even be danger to others. The fines for speeding are in Germany way too cheap.
Arved Ludwig oh no how is this possible! shocker! next time they will get an s class just to make amends. they should apologize to everyone until then.
Only the Diesel is a Renault/Dacia Engine. But yes, the Quality Standards have fallen massively at Mercedes and all the things that made them Great, including considering their Customers as intelligent Owners, is gone. It's that way with most new Cars which insults me greatly. You get no information, no Dipstick, no Temperature, no Control and without Special Tools no Access to anything. Working on an W123 and W124 Diesels is just such a pleasure in Comparison. They are built to be accessible for the owner,, supremely simple and straightforward. And given correct Oil Change Intervals and Valve Adjustment, a Million KM aren't even a stretch. Whenever I get in a new Car, and it Bongs and wishes me a Good Day, all I hear is a gentle "Fuck you, you are my Bitch now" while it gently reaches for my Wallet and secretly giggles at the Idiot who bought it. They just creep me out. Car Manufacturers seem to consider their Customers as the worst Stereotype of People. Shallow, Stupid and Morbidly Inept, to the Point that even giving them a Water Temperature Gauge or a Dipstick seems a Waste, and the Oil Pressure and Temperature are gone forever I fear as well. Nope, now everything is hidden under eternally ugly Plastic and all you rely on for Engine Information is a bunch of Failure Prone Electronic Sensors. But us obedient little Consumers are happy with that. We'll keep swallowing and swallowing, and there is no End in Sight, give us something to Swallow and we are happy. Consumerism is such an addictive Disease.

I'm german to and here are my experience with german autobahn: the right lane almost used by big trucks and sometimes busses. they causes deep rins with theire tires and havy weights. so if it's starts to rain, this rins fills up with water and if you drive your car through this, you feel your tires "swimm" and spinning if you triy too speed up! aquaplaning ist the magic key!! and it starts at a speed 100km/h +!!! ceep this in your mind if you drive on the autobahn and you will be save! and don't listen to people saying that it's posible to drive more than 120 if it rains. they're crazy and didn't care of theire and other ones live!! german beer taste different as it will do in other countries because the brewer uses the purity law! I won't say that it is better, but it taste different, thats true! 6:06 "it wasnt bombed in the war, because they not making weapons here, they not making planes here." Well, there are so many towns that were bombed wich didnt produced any waepons. The bombing aim - specally Bomber Harris' doctrince - was to hit every house in Germany, with less difference.Take old Potsdam for example, it was bombed in april 45. The order was to destroy the historic town centre. You can find that in the RAF archieves. Why? Hmm jut because they were able to do it. So this town you visited just had a lot of luck.
That´s why there is no cupholder in european cars, when you drive 80-100 mls/h , there is no time to slurf drinks and eating dougnuts, if you need something to eat or drink, you stop at a "raststätte" , it is recommended for turists to stop every 2-3 hours, to keep the concentration up.

Please drive in the right lane as long as you are not overtaking other cars! You are two really, really nice people, but I hate when people do this and as we drive quite high speeds this can be very dangerous if small cars want to overtake you and have to change from the far right to the far left and back while BMWs are driving 200kmh+ there (Overtaking on the right is forbidden). However, I wish you the best time here in Germany :) And ps look out for the grey circle with stripes (->no speed limits anymore) and have fun :)

Auch die paar Australier (oder welcher Nation auch immer) können eine gewisse Gefahr darstellen - ob sie es wollen oder nicht. Flying The Nest UNREAL. I did a camping tour with them, but the only downside was that we weren’t in any city long enough. Met some great people and had an absolute blast camping.
130 km/h is recommended speed-limit on the autobahn. There are quite large sections of the autobahn with actual speedlimits going from 70 to 120 km/h (normally - sometimes they go down to 50 but that's only at construction sites^^) but if there is nothing else written it's recommended speedlimit of 130 km/h. As the name says, it's recommend ... you can go as fast as the traffic allows. And really it's not much of a speed-limit but rather recommended speed xD At normal traffic on those sections 130/140 km/h in my experience is the speed you can comfortably drive on the autobahn. Like the normal traffic on the autobahn moves around that speed. So it's no wonder that driving 120 km/h you get constantly overtaken, cause general traffic moves at around 140 km/h.
Normally it's 80-130 if there are limits and sometimes 60 at construction sites. Of course there are some special places where you have to go even slower for short parts.

130 is the recommended speed. And unless there's a clear sign that says go this speed or this, you could go faster, but if you crash, insurance may not support you
If you survive of course
Wel this tourist just love to drive 160 every time I'm in Germany 😁😁😁
ye 120 is kind of sad - I was driving 130 in driving school back when I didnt even have a licence :D

Also, 120km/h is indeed pretty slow for a non restricted Autobahn section 😁
szoszk oh my goodness I thought they were going 120 miles an hour!
120 km per hour is indeed very slow!
Jude Lion didn't think about MPH actually, but if they were overtaken by so many people and especially delivery vans, 120km/h is much more realistic. There are not a lot of people on the Autobahn doing more than 150km/h (120mph would be 190km/h)
hahaha we were too scared to go any faster! so we just stuck to the middle lane!
szoszk yeah you're right!
No matter how fast you drive in Germany, someone is driving faster than you ("Tom Hanks"). Use the right lane.

Right?
Couple of rules for driving on an autobahn:
-if the right lane is free: use it
-never (and i mean NEVER) overtake on the right side, except for the case when you are in a traffic Jam
-you only may drive as fast as you want if their is a sign that sais so (the crossed out speed limit/the grey crossed out sign)
-before you switch lanes, look behind you as the people may drive as fast as they wann
-The lane on the very very right is only for people who have to stop due to accident or car failure and you are not alllowed to use it
-just dont be dick
"before you switch lanes, look behind you"
however, on the autobahn, don't do that like you usually would. only turn your head and watch out to the back from the corner of your eye.
do not turn your torso as with the speeds involved even a little unintentional jerk to the steering wheel can have disastrous effects.

sanSDI overtake or pass is the word!
Overspeed would mean as if going above the speed limit or too fast, like to *'overdo'* something!
Otherwise your English is very good!😀
Since you seems to be German, when Kennedy helt his speach in Berlin, did´t he said he were a Cake??Ich bin EIN Berliner, should´t it have been "ich bin Berliner??" (like..ich bin ein frankfurter/hamburger!!)

Yes. 250 km/s is far too fast. :-)
They are connected by A14/B6 ... so you just need an hour to go there ;)
have you been to Lüneburg? ;)
MuDv4yNe I went straight onto Google maps to see how I could link the two, I think we are going to visit on our way home as it is a nice detour.

160 instead of 120 is pretty serious. 1 km/h more and you got yourself a 1 month driving ban.
As a result if your speedometer says 120 km/h it might actually only be something like 114 km/h.

toureifel well these speeding tickets don't itch Swiss drivers. To them its like an entrance ticket for blasting through German AB's on high speed. I see that constantly on the A5. Although there's some parts of the A5 which are limitfree.
David Radtke
Yes of course you can’t drive fast in Switzerland.
You chose the Mercedes-Benz B-Klasse? That car is usually for old people or counts as such.

Let them have their fun. Benz is Benz
Nooo, front wheel drive minivan with renault engine is not a Benz. It just carries the badge and price tag.
Most people in other countries are like - who cares, as long as it carries the brand logo.
My boss in China had a B. I did not say anything, but I was quite astonished. I found the engine quite rough and noisy, for the horsepower the performance was sedate, and looking in certain corners I could see penny-pinching workmanship.

the right lane almost used by big trucks and sometimes busses. they causes deep rins with theire tires and havy weights. so if it's starts to rain, this rins fills up with water and if you drive your car through this, you feel your tires "swimm" and spinning if you triy too speed up! aquaplaning ist the magic key!! and it starts at a speed 100km/h +!!!

Well, there are so many towns that were bombed wich didnt produced any waepons.

You are two really, really nice people, but I hate when people do this and as we drive quite high speeds this can be very dangerous if small cars want to overtake you and have to change from the far right to the far left and back while BMWs are driving 200kmh+ there (Overtaking on the right is forbidden).
However, I wish you the best time here in Germany :)

210km/h ... my car starts complaining if i go slower
Normally it's 80-130 if there are limits and sometimes 60 at construction sites. Of course there are some special places where you have to go even slower for short parts.
Thanx for these wonderful videos!😊 You are such a nice couple. And as a German, it's very interesting to watch your experience here and your reactions as well. Have much fun and maybe one day, you come back..there is so much left to see.😉 Best wishes from Schleswig-Holstein (north of Hamburg between North Sea and Baltic Sea)!
Hey guys, I’ am German living in Australia and I bloody love your video.
I was just looking for a Video where foreigners reacting to the autobahn :D now I am very thankful for this trip through Quedlinburg. I am from Germany but haven't heard anything from that little town before, but I'm glad that I do now, what a beautiful little place! It's always good to learn something new about his country, Thank you very much! :)
The town is very beautiful keep it up
Keep tuned - we find even more stunning spots :P
💙German autobahn💙
haha never driven on a freeway like it before :P
First time for everything! Great vlog!
120 is slow. 130 on wet Streets is Normal. And if the street is not wet, then you can drive with full speed. greets from a german. And: Drive carefully and everytime on the right lane!
My normal cruising speed is around 200kph.... no big deal.
Mathias Burghardt please on the right lane when driving this slow. Thanks. 😉
6:07 "it wasnt bombed in the war because they are not making weapons here they are not making planes here..."
ehm.. This was just coincidence. These reasons did not counted for many other towns. Just imagine the historic Potsdam was bombed on 14th april '45 (yes this late), it had no industry too. The RAF just had the order to destroy German culture. Frankfurt is just a lucky individual case.
Its crazy. I am german and cities like this are just so normal. We got used to them but when i see it in a video Im like: wow. Germany is so beautiful
😀😀I love travelling Australia and it was quite funny to discover Germany with Aussie's eyes
👍Well done mates!
B 180 - A Hell of a ride :-)
I really need to do a roadtrip in Germany, I cant believe I live here and still haven't!
Just don't do it as they do, either drive one Country Roads or STICK TO THE BLOODY RIGHT LANES. The Left ones are for overtaking only.
Das ist so typisch deutsch: sie fliegen in der ganzen Welt rum, wohnen aber im schönsten Land der Welt und wissen es nicht!
Me neither. 😆
You’ll not get a “Berliner” in Berlin 🤷🏽♂️
Also: Wiener Würstchen are called Frankfurter in Wien.
You guys are so cute!! I watched the Berlin food vlog and now I can't stop watching your videos because you seem to have such happy times and I can feel the happy vibes! I'm glad you get to enjoy beautiful Germany and fall in love with the little things. :) Have a great time guys!
I just stumbled over this video, and boy was i in for a treat. I spent one week in Quedlingburg in an exchange program with german students in high school 19 years ago... This brought back so many memories. We also hung out a lot in that brewery, Lüdde Brau. Sooo good beer, and that place smelled so good XD Thank u for this, and cheers from Norway
Fun fact: you can't get a 'Berliner' in Berlin because they call it 'Pfannkuchen' which means somthing else in the rest of Germany
1:22 ists caled "Start Stop Automatik" its turns of the motor to save fule
I could have told you before! That always happens with that jam.
mkmm60 It only happens if you have no jam donut eating degree. If you have one you know about the importance of taking the first bite from the very side of the hole where the jam had been filled in. ;) Sorry for my English - I took my last lesson 40 years ago. Today I am just an expert in jam donut eating...
I'm from Germany. You can drive as fast as you want, as long as no speed sign says you have to drive for example 120km/H. If you want to drive fast or you want to overtake, you have to drive left and if you don't, drive so much on the right as possible
It's, if not, one of the best place on earth. Totally pristine.
Germany looks so goood!!!
:) :)
Germany is good.
i think its the only payable model they can offer xD
Daddo Valentine germany is a beautiful country, but the fact that there are these wannabe-nazis (in german called “AFD-Wähler“) is just the most annoying thing ever. Because they are always crying about our bad “refugees welcome“ politic that actually isnt that bad.
no necessary commet duden these kind of dumb people are in every single country in the world
Rule N°1 don´t Eat a Berliner in the Car
Rule #1 would be, always go for the stuffing hole first.
Oh yes what a dreamy town!!!!
scott a ...a lot of crime here the last 3 jears....
sry i absolutely dont know what you are talking about... though that you mention these 3 years so explicitly i think i already know what kind of person you are....
Taizai not my problem
Hey, I live here since 2000 in Quedlinburg and "a lot of crime here the last 3 years" is nonsense.
If you like pretty streets, try Ahrweiler. One street close to the town wall is very cute. The town wall itself offers fascinating views, too.
What a lovely video. Thanks for being so nice about Germany! I miss those beautiful church bells....
Sometimes there is no speed limit in german Autobahn😂😂😍
you drive only right side, please. The German are faster car.... I know many times experience...
I was getting stressed watching them drive in the middle lane and not moving over, joking around instead of paying attention, acting amazed at people passing them when they were only doing 120. They clearly should not be anywhere but the right lane.
Ooof maybe put a little work into your English...
Wow beautiful cute town
Love you're German road trips so much. Welcome to good old Germany
Nice to see that you not only explore know places in germany. enjoy your time
This is an example of typical bad Aussie driving. Please stay away from the Autobahn, you did not have proper training and you become a hazard to other people! (-from a fellow Aussie).
but our emergency rooms need work too, hihi
I hate driving in Australia. It sucks...
Sorry but this is nonsense. Keep to the right lane and you will be fine. And lot's of Germans are using only the middle lane on a 3 lane Autobahn as well. Very annoying, but I want blame an Aussie for this.
@@sebastiansjourney1711 middle lane is perfect for traveling at the recommended speed limit in place on a 3-lane autobahn. However on a dual carriageway it can be an issue if slow traffic isn't moving over to allow faster vehicles to overtake and decongest the road
@@no_bull Also on a 3-lane Autobahn you should use the most right lane if it's free. You should ... but I often do see people just staying in the middle and the right lane is completly empty. Feels always a bit strange when you want to overtake them and have to go from the right lane all the way to the left lane and all the way back to the right lane.
Even when i was in driving school i drove about 170 km/h it's normal for me
a Mercedes B Klasse is considered an Car for the Elderly :)))))
Wow ... I used to live close to Quedlinburg - i have never thought that one day i will see it on RUclips and through the eyes of Visitors from the other side of the world. You guys made a beautiful portrait of this medieval city. Just love that =)
Quedlinburg is a good choice for a visit. So much effort went into this Town all the old doors and windows which got restored or the old techniqes they used for the Restauration off the Buildings. Hope ur have had a good time :D
