If the governments make a good decision, which they never do, NATO and it's countries will stay out of the conflict. but if they don't, Russias occupation of Ukraine will help them. And being a nuclear superpower means nothing. you can't nuke a country with nukes of their own. And when it comes to sheer military force, Russia is far outnumbered by nato's forces.

True! US also helped fuel this conflict by offering NATO membership to Ukraine , which was hopeless and went against the opinion of most of the world. It could never join as Ukraine has its own internal conflict and corruption, so first and foremost- US needs to drop any offers of Ukraine joining NATO. A similar agreement to the Minsk 2 agreement is the best we have to solving this.

There are laws that prevents Russian from being spoken among Ukrainian. If Ukraine consider Crimea part of Ukraine, how can they take away a fresh water for over 2 million residents? Not in the mood? It's a war crime. NATO isn't a pacifist block. It has engaged in invasions after USSR collapsed. But the "end of history" never actually occurred because neoliberal policy adoption has been lackluster at best in Asia since they were given time to watch its failure in South America. @PHX Swan Nato doesn't exist just for Russia. It's an alliance for whatever comes in the future. Don't you know that Nato was involved in Afghanistan? It offered aid in 9/11 too among other things. Nato has never been the aggressor in a war like what Russia is doing now.

This is mostly about Russia wanting to control its former colonies and feeling weak as many of them drift away from Russia. Russia has seen its territory and influence shrink to its smallest in centuries.
NATO is a defense pact and would never attack Russia in an offensive attack (when has a nuclear nation attacked another nuclear nation?). NATO would only fight for defensive purposes. Russias concern is that it cannot use force or the threat of force to control/influence any nation if it’s part of NATO. That is why he fears any former Soviet colony joining NATO Since it means Russia will have lost almost all influence and control over it.
Furthermore, many Russians including Putin (confirmed it in the speech when the invasion started) have a belief that Ukraine belongs to Russia or the Russian people. So it is even a bigger interest of Russia to control Ukraine thus prevent it from joining NATO or EU.

For Europe, energy independence is just not feasible. If Europe as a whole started building nuclear power plants (the fastest, cheapest way to get off fossil fuels), the demand for uranium would boom. Kazakhstan is one of the biggest exporters of uranium and is also another ex-Soviet Union country. If Europe went truly green (solar energy for example) they would still need to import the materials to build large scale solar panel fields and the demand for these materials would be so high that basically it would be the new oil. There's just no winning for Europe. There's a reason why historically Europe has been at war in one way or another for the majority of its history - lack or imbalance of resources.

Moreover, 90-95% of these losses will be military losses. In America's war against Iraq, Iraq's civilian casualties amounted to about 1 million people. Truly a fantastic job here, I've shared it all around. Never have I had a breakdown of a major world conflict be broken down so well and so detailed. Normally these things are glossed over with a go-to explanation and then "plus a lot of other factors make this extremely complicated situation."added on the end.

According to the official OPEC data, Kazakhstan has oil reserves in the amount of 30 billion barrels, which is 1.93% of world reserves and is ranked 11th in the world by this indicator. In comparison, Russia owns 80 billion barrels, 5.16% of the global oil reserve and has the 7th place in the world. Well, what about Ukraine…Ukraine owns only 0.395 billion barrels of oil and is ranked 41st in the world. Feel the difference, as one says.
I mean, there is no point in seizing Ukraine and its so-called "huge" resources, this is a complete nonsense. Russia always tries to maintain friendly relations with all former Soviet republics. Learn about a nationalist coup in ukraine which was followed by killings of russian people in Odessa which led to fear of the same massacre in Lugansk, Crimea and Donetsk. Reallifelore prefers not to mention this, showing Putin as a leader who wants political power in Europe and oil money, not a man who was frightened by yet another genocide of russian people on ex-ussr soil. That already happened in central asia in 90’s. That happened in Chechen republic. And that was happening in last years in eastern ukraine, and the regime is fully responsible for that, as they ignored the Minsk treaty’s for years - another thing that author decided “unimportant”.

Most countries don't actually declare formal war on each other anymore. This is a war in every sense except there's no official paper saying it is a war.

@@somedominik9036 Plus it really does makes sense when you look into it geopolitically. There's no guarantee that the relations between the West and Moscow would ever warm. Western presidents have always vilified communist leaders such as Putin and Xi. Due to the cold relationships between the countries this video shows why its a huge vulnerability for Russia to lose Ukraine to the West.
First if Ukraine really does find those natural resources (such as natural gas and oil) they could directly cripple Russia's economy by being a rival alternative to the rest of Europe. Second, after crippling Russia's economy in the event of a land war the West will have an easier time mobilizing their armies to cut-off Moscow from its Natural Resources (oil specifically) then proceed to destroying their capital via a very flat and easily maneuverable terrain.
This was the only video to finally let me realize why Moscow has repeatedly been worried about Ukraine joining NATO. Yes, war is never the answer but I'm perplexed as to why this vulnerability or concern of Russia did not seem to be taken much into consideration.

2014. Massive protests in Ukraine. A new president has been selected. New laws have been establised, most of them are russophobic. Everyone against the revolt is being burned alive in the house of trade unions, Odessa (14th of May). Neonazi soldiers are continuing to terrorize Lugansk and Donetsk for 8 years. 13,3k people have died. Nazist groups blackmail everyone who's against the new government. Poroshenko, as the new leader, completely approves of it. Zelensky, the current president, did nothing to stop it.
It's not just about the NATO invitation. Fascism has been restored. The corrupt ukrainian leadership got to rule the country through blood and constant screams of the families they destroyed.
This isn't war. Putin, after 8 years of watching innocent people bleed to death from the shattered glass, finally takes action.
I can't believe that almost the entire world has sympathy for Ukraine, but not for the regions they continued to drop bombs on. This is sick. I have no hate towards these people. I only feel sadness for them.

One big reason why this video is being seen by a lot of people is because, unfortunately, this conflict is the new "trend." It's the thing every media outlet is discussing, so RUclips's programs will boost anything related to it.
With the Georgia crisis, from a media perspective, it's old news, and unfortunately, the algorithms predict that people won't care as much and won't push it.
That's a very simplified summary of one of the factors though. I would highly recommend doing your own research as well into the RUclips algorithm and censorship.

While it gives another plausible reason for the war. 1st oil and gas, Ukraine could become a competitor due to newly found gas and oil sites in ukraine, 2nd strategic reasons, moving NATO-RF front to western Ukraine. Other than that its very biased and pro-west, supporting the narrative of a revolution instead of the right-wing coupe d'état in 2014(Svoboda, right sector etc.) and the invasion of Crimea(democratically voted to join RF after right-wing coupe d'état).

I didnt imagine it's also about resources. Yeah I know Ukraine has farm land of great value but didnt knew they found new gas reserves. For europe it couldve been very convenient to make a great economy of Ukraine and to have that stronghold against Russia. Through it's annoying when some times media presents the issue as Russia bad the Free world good. Despite fact that free world has had wars on every corner of the planet.

I think the Ukrainians deserve their own country, but I guess it's very tough to be able to resist becoming a bufferstate or a puppet to either the US-EU alliance or Russia, like Belarus is.
I think the people there are deserving of their own state, but due to being the border they have to thread carefully.

If I had any doubt in his reporting, I'd voice it and would tell you, but he did an amazing job on this video. Even though, some of the NATO allied nationals like Britishers or Americans might not like it, this video clearly shows Russia's reasons and it is 100% justified from their perspective to start this war.
