Grabs a grenade in his hand and put it in mine with his hands around mine and says,"OK Terry, this is what we're going to do today" the only time I ever had a superior call me by my first name. He looked very nervous, must have had some bad experiences in that pit, full of frag holes....haha
Best advice I can give you is to just buy in right at the start. Don't hold back, don't try to assert your individuality, don't think you're too cool or too smart to be there. Jump when you're told to jump, hit the deck quick when you're told to drop. Everyone is going to be all-in before long anyway, so make it easy on yourself and just commit to the program from day one. When you're in your last week, try to make the time to look around and keep some memories.
Always remember, you are never right, you are always fucking something up, and they will always have a reason to yell at you. Getting smoked is not a punishment, its getting your body right, and you should enjoy it. Most of us look back and wish we could go back to those days. Its been 10 years for me. I remember it like it was yesterday. Enjoy it, it'll be over quickly, and then you will be thrust into the bullshit that is the actual army. Its really not fun from that point on.

+Jerrico L my drill Sgt found an open locker and made a crime scene by stuff all the shit from the locker into the acu outlined with baby powder. funny as fuck but sucked to clean up.
I remember one time when we were leaving one of the obstacle courses, one platoon was getting smoked while we were marching back to the barracks...all I heard from DS Joseph Gaskin was, "That's it 1st platoon!!! COLUMN HALF RIGHT, MARCH! PLATOON, HALT! FRONT LEAN AND REST POSITION, MOVE!!! YOU BETTER GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR BUTT, 1ST PLATOON!!!" That guy was no joke...he always called water, "motivation juice" lol

I wasn’t in the building. But I left my wall locker open while at Ft.Knox. My TA50 was outside, the third floor(I lived on the second), and in the DS office. I lost 6 pounds that day.
That first part had me traumatized. Brings back memories of the whole barracks being completely wrecked after inspection for one god damn thing not squared away. Except, our DSs were clever with what they did to the bunks and the mattresses. They would even hang stuff (like shoes and underwear) from the grid ceiling... Stack bunks in to other bunks, block the pathway with a stack of mattresses. Fun times...

Basic Training in Fort McClellan Alabama in Oct 1982, " you better push Alabama down to China right now private" lol love it, i would do it all over again if i could.
HOO-AHH!! Fort McMuffin! I saw some pictures of the place after it closed....breaks my heart. Those barracks were brand-new when I went through in 1984. We had to Brasso the garbage can and sweep the PT pad and that place sparkled from our effort. To see it dilapidated and overgrown made my heart ache.
Brandon Harris to be fair he actually *does* care if you’re in *medical* pain, go see a doc! DS secret: most of them are perfectly normal human beings, this is all a front to break you down and instil discipline. They’re gonna be super assholes, but they don’t actually want you physically injured or sick, they want you trained. So DS is genuinely worried about your health lol
I got out in 2014, watching these videos and a few others of life after basic brings happiness back to me no matter how bad of a day it is. every day even as a business owner with a family I would kill to go back in, i miss the brotherhood and the respect for each other that almost everyone has in the civilian world. who knows maybe thanks to youre motivation ill end up back in. keep it up back bone youre the shit.
thiere was a guy that had ptsd from basic training would wake up in the middle of the night screaming could not effectivly function and actually shake. had serious anxiety problems so he really should not of been sent but was a good guy none the less.
If they are that soft, they shouldn't be in the Military in the 1st place..... Crap, I went thru basic when the Drills could do more than just yell at you. How would todays kids handle that??????
Oh, made me nostalgic for the good old days. :( I went through Ft Jackson summer of 1990. Drill Sgts Brown, Boyd and Ferrell. Drill Sgt Boyd was the meanest SOB! He caught me sleeping on my caught one day when we were cleaning our bays. No one woke me up. BASTARDS! :) Next thing I know the bunk was lifted up in the air and the only thing as I was able to see before I rolled of the bed was the top of his Smokey Bear hat. Good times! :) lol!!
I went to Ft. Jackson in 1993. Drill Sergeant Jackson & Dexter were my Drill Instructors. There was a woman also but I forgot her name. She was the worse ironically
After we graduated our Drill Sgt turned out to be a nice guy. He told us that his wife hated his job because of the long hours and once cut holes into his Smokey Bear hat because he was called into duty after promising her a holiday weekend getaway. SSG Conner, I'll never forget him.
As you move on in life depending on where you are at in life the military was either a adjustment part of her life or brutal (in a good way) part of life. Basic training I thought would be the worse thing I would ever experience in life. That was until I got back as a civilian and experienced personal failures and struggles.
Retired Army here. I can definitely relate to this. Back in '91 at Ft. McClellan, AL our Drill Sergeants were NO JOKE. Back then you could do this and MUCH worse. I survived and 28 years later still have flashbacks from "fill day."
Regular Army 6 years....1 1/2 years in a combat zone as a Combat Medic...Basic Training unlike this was no joke...getting deployed to a war zone....well, no words can Express the feeling and experience... But this made me laugh.
watching in 2018. We had a DI when I was in AIT and every other teaching moment, he always said "Back in THE Nam." 11B 1985-2009 11Z retired. I laugh when I see this
It was a particular leaf they sent us after. Never did get the right damn leaf. Run, push, run, push etc. Thats not my leaf, are you mocking me bringing the wrong leaf. Go get my leaf! RUN! PUSH!
Guys would set their combo lock to the last number, you know , to unlock faster. The instructor comes by and on a certain day pulls every lock. The recruits shit goes everywhere.
In our 8th week of basic (which we had been told would be the worst one) we all could feel in the air we were about to be fucked into submission and then some. Our officer played a song in our language that translates into "I want to go back to my mother's arms". A beautiful song by a man who had just lost his mother. Holy Jesus Christ by the end of that week did we all want to return to momma
2:33 he calls the guy "monkey puncher" I looked it up just out of curiosity and this is the definition I got: "Someone stupid enough to click banner ads, i.e. the ad encouraging you to punch the monkey to win."
Went through bct at ftlw 21 10 74 in C-2-3 2nd Plt . Graduated 20 12 74 . SFC Gravely was my PLT/DS . Nam Vet. Tough but fair ; knew his shit; would bend over backwards to help a struggling trainee pass all his stations. Hell of a cadence caller. Even let us watch a John Wayne Army movie on a Saturday night 2/3 the way thru basics with us because we really excelled that week. Did 3 yrs active duty and 17.5 yrs Reserves. Retired in 95 as a SSG. Can still see his face as we got off the cattle cars. If you’re still alive Thank You SFC Gravely SSG/ENGR/Retired , Ancas, Thomas E.
+MrMustang1804 We have the Iraq war to thank for that. Nobody wanted to join so DoD had to scrape the bottom of the barrel. No shit, I had to work with guys who literally could not read the contract they signed.
Just got back from Fort Leonard Wood. Can confirm! "Too Easy" is too accurate! I joined the National Guard hoping to be challenged and pushed to my limits. I wasn't.
Echo 18 -4 (1978) I wish we had drill sergeants this calm back in the 70s!lol I still remember their names. Drill sergeant Eppers and drill sergeant Rogers, now they were crazy! I love them and miss them!
Those of us who survived Basic can laugh about it now but we weren't laughing when it was happening.
This is why I will NEVER join an army.

I once had a drill sergeant threaten to recycle me so far back that I would get younger and become ineligible.

M Coleman had on DS say he would recycle someone to before he signed the contract.

My dad would say mountain climbers are the tools of the devil, especially the 8 count variety.
Cherry pickers after two hours almost straight are worse in my opinion still good times though

Staff Sergeant Yushua Thomas, this is John Rodriguez ( Corporal, USMC and Sergeant, US Army): Thank You for Your Service.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🗽🔫
John Rodriguez Can you confirm that they got crayons in the USMC?
As a 0621 Corporal of Marines, I was issued a rifle but no crayon :(
Edgar Morales you sure that you weren’t a Lance?
@@edgarmorales5257 😆🤣😂
Thank you for all service men and woman who served and still serving. No eating crayons 🖍
Love you all, 🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️
Basic Training in Fort McClellan Alabama in Oct 1982, " you better push Alabama down to China right now private" lol love it, i would do it all over again if i could.
Ft. McClellan! Charlie 795, 4th Plt. "Mad Dogs"! 1990.
3:21 "what the hell is going on with yo ass pri?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 He sounded so confused and concerned 🤣🤣🤣
You only know if you served. Great video. Brought back too many hilarious times.😂😂😂😂
I think I got Basic PTSD from this. LOL
Post Basic Stress Disorder? PBSD
:D
thiere was a guy that had ptsd from basic training would wake up in the middle of the night screaming could not effectivly function and actually shake. had serious anxiety problems so he really should not of been sent but was a good guy none the less.
Brian, Lets hope not........
If they are that soft, they shouldn't be in the Military in the 1st place..... Crap, I went thru basic when the Drills could do more than just yell at you. How would todays kids handle that??????
Thank you for the end shout out to all of us who served.
USAF (Retired)
Amen my brother . good times & bad times thank god we made it thru
Men I love this, hell it even get me memories!!! Damn Brothers I miss this life!!!
Thank you Brother!!!
“When I get through with you, you’ll be able to push Ft. Knox to the West Coast!” I lost it!
Good times! :) lol!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ya shouldn't of been on your Cot! Basic Fort Dix June of 1982
I went to Ft. Jackson in 1993. Drill Sergeant Jackson & Dexter were my Drill Instructors. There was a woman also but I forgot her name. She was the worse ironically
I've deployed to Iraq from Ft. Drum, Germany and Ft. Wainwright. The Army loved sending me to cold places and deploying me to very hot ones.
EDIBERTO "EDDIE" LEAL 🤣🤣🤣 I DIED LAUGHING AT YOUR COMMENT!
When... when he says "put toothpaste on my fist, and brush your fucking teeth out!" oh man, just LOL's around!
Funny how we laugh about now..didn't seem so funny then, right?
True. It was pretty scary for the first few weeks but it's incredible what you can get used to.
You can just hear his excitement every time "half right face" comes out of his drill pipes! Yes indeed!
After we graduated our Drill Sgt turned out to be a nice guy. He told us that his wife hated his job because of the long hours and once cut holes into his Smokey Bear hat because he was called into duty after promising her a holiday weekend getaway. SSG Conner, I'll never forget him.
I can't believe I miss this shit! lol
I miss the chill life in an operational unit during the peacetime Army of the 1980's. ADA all the way! If it flies it dies!\
As you move on in life depending on where you are at in life the military was either a adjustment part of her life or brutal (in a good way) part of life. Basic training I thought would be the worse thing I would ever experience in life. That was until I got back as a civilian and experienced personal failures and struggles.
classic
Holy shit it’s the legend himself!
lmfaooo they put the sound deebo's bike made from friday when the Drill Sergeant was coming down the hall. Instantly paused to hit that like button.
Retired Army here. I can definitely relate to this. Back in '91 at Ft. McClellan, AL our Drill Sergeants were NO JOKE. Back then you could do this and MUCH worse. I survived and 28 years later still have flashbacks from "fill day."
What's "fill day"?
Fitting to rewatch today, Veterans Day 2020.
Regular Army 6 years....1 1/2 years in a combat zone as a Combat Medic...Basic Training unlike this was no joke...getting deployed to a war zone....well, no words can Express the feeling and experience...
But this made me laugh.
"It's about to get hot"
That's when you know you're in for a treat.
"If the army wanted you to have a wife, we would issue you one"
Quality entertainment.

*cameraman laughs*
Drill Sergeants are waaay funnier than Drill Instructors is what these videos have taught me. My tears are burning.
I love this guy's laugh, it's evil, funny, and nice all at the same time. Hahaha.
watching in 2018. We had a DI when I was in AIT and every other teaching moment, he always said "Back in THE Nam." 11B 1985-2009 11Z retired. I laugh when I see this
My favorite was, "I'm looking at a tree shithead.......go find it!!!"
.......... no one ever found it...😖
It was a particular leaf they sent us after. Never did get the right damn leaf. Run, push, run, push etc. Thats not my leaf, are you mocking me bringing the wrong leaf. Go get my leaf! RUN! PUSH!
I loved ft Knox. It’s been a while ago. But my DI sent me to my unit 3 15 month tours and here today. Love the DI.
Yes BDUs were vital not like that. They were rolled then the end was reversed rolled to show the woodland cammo.
Yep. Army did the "reverse roll", Navy and Marine Corps rolled'em up just like that......and yes.....I know he's Army.
True...and done so you can pull them down faster in a NBC environment.
@@johnjohnson9726 Yep! NBC are sneaky bastards....not like those pussies at CNN and ABC! LOL
that panzer grenadier medal touch was brilliant! XD
Expert Grenade
my bad sry
"Well can't have none of this shit. All that is contraband, hooah." Legendary
“When the marine corps wants you to have a wife, you’ll be issued one private” -Chesty Puller
The expert grenadier had my dying 😂 military brat here, family of marine and navy vets from 40s to 90s who have endless stories of stuff like this
Same in my family going all the way back to this countries start. Proud of our family military heritage and bless you for yours
Watched these a thousand times…. Still love it. Ahh those memories 😂
Guys would set their combo lock to the last number, you know , to unlock faster.
The instructor comes by and on a certain day pulls every lock. The recruits shit goes everywhere.
Thats what I think about your profile now PUSH!!!!!!!!!!! lol busted my gut laughing. Damn i miss the army with these skits lol
Our Drill SGT played Frank Sinatra everytime we were about to be fucked. I hate fly me to the moon now :/
Lol
In our 8th week of basic (which we had been told would be the worst one) we all could feel in the air we were about to be fucked into submission and then some.
Our officer played a song in our language that translates into "I want to go back to my mother's arms". A beautiful song by a man who had just lost his mother.
Holy Jesus Christ by the end of that week did we all want to return to momma
This is ABSOLUTELY the FUNNIEST of ALL !!! 😂
Man Look!!! You made my day!!! I miss hearing all this!! 😂😂😂
"YOU MAKE ME WANNA PUT TOOTHPASTE ON MY FISTS"
2:33 he calls the guy "monkey puncher" I looked it up just out of curiosity and this is the definition I got: "Someone stupid enough to click banner ads, i.e. the ad encouraging you to punch the monkey to win."
1:18 That laugh from the cameraman 🤣🤣🤣
Like he was tryna hold it 🤣
Went through bct at ftlw 21 10 74 in C-2-3 2nd Plt .
If you’re still alive Thank You SFC Gravely
SSG/ENGR/Retired , Ancas, Thomas E.
I did the One-Stop deal, doing both basic and AIT at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. It was a long time ago and I STILL think about it at least once a day!
1:36 Imagine that as a ring tone when someone texts you.
Damn, that brings back memories! Hoorah and most especially, OORAH, SEMPR Fi!
I miss Woodland Camo
From and “Old Drill”, Thanks, made me smile. 👍🏼❤️🤠
Muse and Thomas the dynamic duo..they keep me crackin up!
This is the old Army. Long gone. Army is all ate up these days.
+MrMustang1804 We have the Iraq war to thank for that. Nobody wanted to join so DoD had to scrape the bottom of the barrel. No shit, I had to work with guys who literally could not read the contract they signed.
No we have Bill Clinton to blame. He was the one who started the decline. Obama just finished it off!!!
Just got back from Fort Leonard Wood. Can confirm! "Too Easy" is too accurate! I joined the National Guard hoping to be challenged and pushed to my limits. I wasn't.
Ate up like a soup sandwich.
Br!an Delta V join the Marine Corps
When he walked around that corner was smooth asf and scary asf😭😭
Wake up was a garbage can coming down the hall
I spit when i laughed at WE WOULD HAVE ISSUED U ONE. omg
Echo 18 -4 (1978) I wish we had drill sergeants this calm back in the 70s!lol I still remember their names. Drill sergeant Eppers and drill sergeant Rogers, now they were crazy! I love them and miss them!
"iTs AbOuT tO gEt HoT" has me rollin every damn time 😂😂😂😂
