Hey Neddy I'm curious would it be a good theory that ark 2 is going to be the whole lore story but from the perspective of the main protagonists aka Santiago Helena Edmund as that would make the perfect story
TBH, I never knew ARK actually had a story. This feels like something out of a cinematic universe. Thank you for taking the time to bring ARK into a new perspective for not just me, but for others who didn't know of this emotional and rich story.
Yeah a lot of players don't know. Because the story is hidden through the explorer notes. Some if not a lot of players have little interest in reading them, so a lot of people don't know. However, as your progress through the DLCs, the story being present becomes quite prevalent. Especially with the end cutscnes of Ark Genesis Parts 1 and 2
As Ark came out and grew, adding DLC, its clear looking back now: there was no real story at first, but the makers were clever enough to leave little tidbits here and there -- things that, at the start, just adding to the little collectible-personality some of us have, but left them enough of an opening to grow on. By Scorched Earth, it was clear they planned to continue this tradition on the new map. I think somewhere between Scorched Earth (or during, as they developed the Explorers Notes), they realize both that their game was EXTREMELY popular, and that they could actually build a plot within it... if they did it right and continued utilizing the Explorer's Notes, as well as simply adding ruins in the game.
Man, this felt like a movie. I mean the cinematics, the entire story, the music, and the fact that it wasn’t just someone telling a story, but instead the most detailed and explained chain of events I have ever heard. This really helped me understand the lore of Ark Survival Evolved, because before I thought it was just a game with no meaning and the only objective was to beat the bosses and move on. I just want to give Ned and his team a huge appreciation as this video was most likely very difficult and very time consuming to make. But besides all of that, I guess I will see you all in Ark Survival Ascended.
I feel exactly the same. I wanted to wirte my one comment but didnt know how, but then i saw this comment and really liked it. So thank you for writing this comment and thans to Ned and his team for making such an awesome Video.

Ark just sent all of their employees home with homework and said, you all gotta write a page of story along these guidelines and hand it in asap), lol, in ark its like 1% and the player is left to make the story themselves, so basically they can pump out content with minimal effort cos the biggest set back of game development would be writing the stories and needing the voice actors and characters in game to give you the story, but ark bypassed that, the game is just a map, and mechanics, but sells for top dollar and theyve scammed everyone atleast twice now... first with the first season pass as they claimed it would give access to all future content and second revealing ark 2 and then years later revealing ASA but without mentioning ark2, then like a year later, scrapping ark evolved official servers and support, and saying arc 2 isnt likely to happen, but here is ASA.. @@rio5347 sorry I'm not a big strong alpha man like you dude. You're so cool and tough man, wow. I wish I didnt have the ability to immerse myself in a story, because that's for babies. Right?
@@christophervalencia5919 Wow what a great strawman. I never said that you can't cry because of how touching a game's story is. I just said that you have low standards for what you consider a good and touching story.
Glad to have had the pleasure to work on parts of this, always a pleasure to see others helping to spread and forward knowledge of ARK's Lore. Keep it up Ned.
Arks story is such an incredible story but its always been so hard to fully understand. You have created a literal 2 hour movie of arks story better explained than anyone else. Well done, this was amazing
It can be complicated to bring those different ideas together into one cohesive story, but if it works out, it actually adds up to a fascinating scify universe filled with emotional dramas and personal adventures, some authors can only dream of. Somehow Neddy was able to work this out so good i actually want to see this fully worked out as a multi-seasonal high budget series now! :)@@kingbellos1403
We’ve all binged a TV series and have been left with that empty feeling inside. Somehow, this 2 hour RUclips video managed to leave me with the same feeling. Thank you for such a wonderful experience
This man is such a legend. Someone get him a grammy. This was so captivating to watch, from the scenes to the sections, to the non-boring voice, the excitement pulsing through the story, and many more elements. I was able to sit down and watch this throughout in one sitting. It made me feel like I was sitting in a sci-fi movie, rather than just watching the movie. It was so captivating as a whole. I have been playing ark for roughly 4 years now on and off, but I never really "understood" the game until now. Thanks so much, this will help tremendously from now on. New sub :)
Grammys are for music, you're thinking of the Oscars or the Emmys. It's a easy mistake and everyone including me understands what you're trying to convey just hope remember the difference if it ever comes up again in your life
Words cannot put into perspective of how much I appreciate this video. Years ago I had gotten Ark to give it a try, but dumped it almost as soon as I picked it up because of how confusing it was. For a good while after, I struggled every day to find some sort of guide or story that could help me understand at least a morsel of what Ark was about and what my objective was. From day 1 I was already really invested into the lore, as I heavily enjoy these kind of sci fi elements that Ark has so masterfully woven together. The only downfall to this majestic story though, is how the information is delivered and I believe that's where a lot of the new players end up dropping Ark at. Today I thought "Hey, why not give Ark lore another try, the wiki was too hard to read so maybe RUclips will finally have something after so long." and it did. Your video. I was reluctant at first, seeing how it was almost 2 hours long, but as soon as I started I realised that this was no tutorial, nor was it a guide, but it was a whole damn cinematic movie so expertly woven together by providing information and entertainment side by side, integrated seamlessly. I don't very rarely feel sad about coming to the end of RUclips videos, but I'm at the 1 hour 26 minutes mark and I can already feel myself dreading the end of this video, almost as if it were one of the best movies I have ever watched (Which by the way, it is.) Thankfully I do recall that you've made a cinematic movie series of this, so i can't wait to watch those as well. So thank you. Thank you for making this video. Thank for you putting in the countless hours of effort into making this absolute masterpiece. This is something more than just a guide, more than just a video, more than just a movie. Your art of narrating over the clips is truly something else, and I'd love for you to continue making these videos. It's turning out to be a wild journey for me, and I just can't wait to see what you have next in store.
As someone stats played this since beta with over 3,500 hours of play, I CANNOT IMAGINE the amount of work and time it took to set up these shots. Bravo to you and your team.
The good old days. I remember being deadly afraid of raptors, and every time we saw one the whole camp would up and in defence mode for when the unfortunate one came screaming and running back😆
I love how the power creep and increasing difficulty with each of the original DLCs is completely more accurate. You’d absolutely need harder and harsher challenges to become strong enough to take down the King Titan
I've waited for ARK-lore video for years... And after 2 hours of watching it I'm crying right now. I've never been able to beat the game myself, but it gave me so much memories. The music gives me chills every time :) Thank you very much!
Same bro.. I don't have a pc yet but sometime I will and will finish the game... But this had made me cry... I'm waiting for ark mobile revamp which will release next month guess I will start my journey from there first.
Having to piece the story together ourselves throughout the game has been one of my favorite ways to tell a story. And Neddy has brought it all to life through his videos and everyone's effort to do this. Thank you!
I've only played Ark off and on about 2 years now, only this past year really getting into boss fights, and max level dinos, and exploring new maps never knowing there was an actual story to Ark. This was incredibly amazing to listen and watch the story unfold, truly a masterpiece. I felt like I was there in the undeniable difficult race to survive against all odds and save the world. Very well done!
This almost brought me to tears mate, as an og ark player, playing since launch, putting countless hours into this game, seeing this and all the cut szenes was just wonderful. A real pleasure to watch and a trip down memory lane. Keep up the Work and much love from Austria! ❤
I believe in you :) honestly don't be afraid to tweak the game a lot especially early on, having played from the beginning, purely single player, I'm just now coming back down to more moderate rates n levelling in my quest to finally conquer all the arks, with the DLC on gamepass :)
It’s criminal this doesn’t have millions of views and 100s of thousands of likes. This was a better cinematic experience I would pay more to watch than most films atm.
I have thousands of hours on ark and I'm honestly shook that I didn't know all of this existed. I absolutely love that you put all this together. Thank you for telling an amazing story.
Just watched this entire video whilst building a bed. Never done any of the story, played 700 hours just surviving this was amazing!! So well done and put together. Congrats on an absolutely epic video
Hey Kiddo. I just wanted to say Thank You for all you have done for this game and your passion for this lore. It truly has got me involved into this game and I really enjoy and love the mini movies you have made. I pray that you are able to continue and finish what you have started. I don't think people know how much time you and your team have put into this whole thing and I just wanted to thank you. I sincerely love the stories and it is AMAZING!!! Your passion and love for this game has past onto me. So know that I really enjoyed your lore and putting mini-movies and stories to this lore. Don't ever give up on your hopes and dreams kiddo. I can't stress this enough. You are in charge of all this and more. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!
Bringing the community together through your cinematics that describe ARK's lore and how far you've come from the Island map is amazing to ee. Can't wait to see what else you come up with
Having played through ARK and the DLC's I knew there was a story...but I had no idea how epic it truly was. The game leaves these tiny little disjointed pieces of lore scattered throughout, which I had just attributed to a mediocre attempt at story-telling...but I was wrong. Thank you for taking the time to create this wondrous presentation of the story. This makes me want to begin the journey all over again.
The lore of Ark is a convoluted tale. But you told it well and made it far more cohesive. It was a long video, but I enjoyed sitting through it nonetheless. I'm fairly new to the game, but I used cheats to unlock the explorer notes on the Island and was starting to read translations of some of the notes online to learn some of the lore. The amount of work that went into this video had to be enormous. Well done.
I didn't expect to watch a 2 hour Ark lore video today. I certainly didn't expect to cry at the end of that video. As a casual player of Ark who only ever played on The Island and never even fought a single boss or anything, this was hella fun to watch, thank you.
@@mattb9054 I don't know what's worse; being unable to feel emotions due to solid writing, or mocking others for feeling those emotions. Either way, I'd feel bad for you, if you weren't an ass about it.
This game will forever be the best thing to ever happen to me, it's story is amazing. The fun you can have with friends, the gameplay and the memories. It's a masterpiece.
And its funny though. I been with ark since its early access days. Way before even the snow biomes became a thing. Back when the max wild dino level was 20. To think it came to all this and how amazing it turned out. I am glad I was in for the ride
@@gahmivolkayou remember the big barren Hill that is now the redwoods lol. My friends and I used to call it Bronto Hill. Built a huge base there and then had to tear it down when they were about to add the redwoods lol Also lost the "Foundry" base when they added lava to the volcano
As someone that has over 10,000 hours on this fun little dinosaur game, thank you for this video it was one of the most well made videos I've seen in a long time. In my opinion ark is the best early access game ever made, but its definitely my favorite game I've ever played.
I'm shocked on how unique the ARK story and lore is build up, its just make me speechless on the initial thought like "Oh cool a game were you can tame dinosaurs." to "I am the one chosen amoung countless other to literally rebuild human kind and Earth it self." this video was an absolute mind opening for me and made me going from a casual player of ARK to a complet Lover towards ARK universe it self.
I never knew there was such a huge back story under the hood of Ark. I praise you for putting together such a comprehensive video about the Ark story. Without a doubt it, this video must have been a long arduous process to complete, but it certainly shows your passion towards this game. Thank you.
Thank you Neddy. You took ark to a level that even my friend who don't game could understand my obsession. From the day it came out I've lived in ark. I've read all the notes, etc. You've got the nail with all your videos. Can't wait to see what you bring us in the future❤
This was an awesome journey and you are lowkey the reason we all understand why it was awesome. Without you I dont think a lot of people would have tried to find out the lore and the drama that is ARK.
This was incredible. To finally hear the story I've never been able to piece together. And all the work you did to make such a seamless presentation off all the clips. FANTASTIC job mate!!
I recently restarted Ark on The Island for the 5th or so time and never seen much beyond that. I never realized how deep the story is, what a fantastic concept of a game and story and this video was beautifully done. I'm in a lost for words for how great Ark really is, despite its flaws.
Am I crazy to think that this could be turned into a legit movie franchise!!! The actual story is incredible and this is coming from someone who barely touched this game so am basically a 3rd party perspective! Incredible work done on this I just wish the story never ended! I need another 2 hours!!!!! ❤❤❤
I started this video with the intention of having it on in the background while playing runescape. 10 minutes in and i stopped gaming because i just wanted to continue watching, and easily deserves a sub. Amazing video.
no mention of mei-yins giga? one of the most badass parts of the lore kinda hidden because the notes ingame are in chinese, she tamed it alone and used to to destroy the roman guys army
Part of the reason why this game has such a special place in my heart is its lore- which has been an extremely big inspiration for my own works. I remember watching this video a few months ago while hammering out a story outline for one of my characters that was heavily inspired by ark lore, and being impressed by the sheer depth and emotion of this game’s lore. Thank you so much for bringing this incredible story to life in this way.
From being a bob on the beach to an alpha on official; I can tell you that every time I hear the lore and Ascension music I can literally cry. This game has brought me so many friends and memories I can’t thank it enough.. Overall well edited and documented video Ned. We ALL needed this. All up from here! ❤
Thanks for taking us on another amazing ride, Ned!!! Some amazing memories caught in there - I have been part of the fan bases of many, many things over the years, however never has anything given me so much joy and pain, ups and downs, friends and foes as Ark ever did. You brought these fictional pieced-together tidbits of lore together for us and made something amazing! You brought me to both laughter and tears through this journey (Diana's final moments hit hard man! And I KNEW what was coming the whole time!) I am glad for all of that. I just hope that the future will bring more happy memories for us tree punching dinosaur
I can only imagine how large a task this video was. It was a beautiful cinematic masterpiece. Thank you so much for all your hard work. I think it's absolutely a crime Wildcard doesn't pay you for something like this.
Bro this video almost made me cry, just to now understand all the lore behind those all DLC's. I was so entertained and into the story that I got sad when the video ended xD. Amazing job man. Made me want to watch it all again and play ARK along with all the DLC as well. 11/10 Would recommend btw ASA huge money grabber and I am kinda OK with it as long as ARK II comes the best masterpiece ever made by anyone on earth (and better optimized than ARK: Survival Evolved).
Alot of players never took the time to find out the whole story if ark, thank you for making it so clear, in doing so youve introduced a new round of fans to the franchise
One of if not the best story from a MMO game that I've ever seen, awesome work piecing this all together and for spending god only knows how long on making this video, keep up the good work Ned
You sold me on a purchase of Ascended. Also, Rockwell's voice is so close to David Tenant I can't help but feel this is movie quality. Huh, it is David Tenant. Welp. Subscribed.
It's 315 am and I Absolutely loved the telling of ARK. Thank you! I never finished Gen 1 or 2, but I am glad this video exists and is now saved in my playlist. PLEASE NEVER DELETE THIS!!!! Though it had ads thru out the video, it makes for an excellent "movie" telling of a beloved game that, sadly, the devs have given up on. You have done a well-deserved thank you and to your team for this video! My favorite place to stay on THE Island was an oasis in the upper right corner southwest of Carno Island where my daughter and I would build our home on the cliff and go fishing in the pond below. AGAIN, thanks for this. Take care be safe have fun, game well, game often and have a good night!
I managed to get a lot of this lore pieced together myself. But your storytelling here was phenomenal dude and it did answer a few unanswered questions I still had. Great job. Thank you
Definitely one of the best stories out there in gaming. Part of the fun was discovering it for yourself. Really gave a sense of wonder and the soundtrack made it even better.
This was absolutely stunning and was able to convey this story in a weirdly realistic and almost familiar way, thank you and the team for creating this incredible piece of work!
Ark’s story is incredible and I hope the animated series covers more of it. Also it wasn’t just prehistoric animals brought back. Mythical creatures were brought to life as well- Dragons, Wyverns, Phoenix, Griffins, Manticore etc. Wish the in game lore explained about why they were brought in.

This was absolutely FANTASTIC 🔥🔥🔥 My English level is not enough to describe my emotions and feelings. So, thank you for this movie 🥺 I wish you have one million subscribers, keep going 💪🔥
Know what I find weird, Raia had the strength, and tames to take on the Guardian of that ARK... A wonder she didn't after going through what she had. BUT she Vowed to Survive, so I guess that's the reason she didn't do anything potentially Hazardous. Guess only time will tell(if they touch up the old stories moving forward, that is). As Always Neddy my Man, Thank you, and your team for all the hard work you put into these stories+
It's cool that the game actually implies Raia defeated the manticore, as Helena actually believed she did so, in her note 28, after Raia recognized Rockwell's Element as the property of the station's guardian. This is also implied in Raia’s last note because she said she saw dangers that would have paralyzed her with fear if she hadn't changed, and she drew two manticores in that note, implying that the manticore was the danger she faced. I also believe Raia went into the tek cave and maybe even faced the gods (the overseer) as she said, in her last note, that she saw things John would never believe. Considering John had seen wyverns and the destructive power of the obelisks, the Manticore or the teleportation technology of the obelisks would not be surprising to him. So she could be talking about the tek cave. However, I don't think we will find out if this is true or not because the writer is someone else. But that’s a headcanon that I like.
@@csds2240 Hmmm, wow I'm amazed at how little attention to detail I have *face palm* as you are Absolutely right about that, but then also why was she still on the same ARK, as we all know you get cycled to the next, and so on... after beating the guardians/overseer at least. That is the only "proof" that makes me believe she didn't in-fact face any of them. But the images, and those words spoken are very compelling...
@@HustlinHugh Well, the explorer notes characters had to use the tek cave consoles to transfer. When Timur defeated the manticore he was not transferred, just as Nerva was not transferred after defeating the overseer.
Thank you so much for this, Neddy and team. This was... incredible. Moving. A fabulous retelling of an amazing story... one we didn't just get to hear, but actually experience. That makes it all the more special. And it's great to be reminded of the entire story arc, before starting a new adventure in ASA.
I'm new to the channel, but god I am so thankful to be here now. I'm eager to go into ASA despite the dull outlook on things, Ark was one of my favourite games ever. I only ever played singleplayer because I had quarrels with the way servers worked, ping issues and I just generally didn't fit into a lot of community spaces. It's hard because I always had that itch to play with people that had the same adoration for the game, but I never really managed it. I'm hoping to change that with ASA. I want to make it something truly special in my heart as I go into a new chapter in my life. Here's to hoping that Wildcard can do what they set out to do and make something that we'll all love.
In the age of bite sized media consumption, this is easily the longest video I've ever watching on RUclips and I loved absolutely every. single. minute. Bravo.

I got into Ark because of my dad. We played through the island, the custom maps, Scorched Earth, Aberration, ETC. He never got to experience Genesis part II due to his passing. I still play Ark to this day, not just to remind me of him. I think he'd be happy to see what an amazing game it had become. We loved the story, a lot. As Ark came out and grew, adding DLC, its clear looking back now: there was no real story at first, but the makers were clever enough to leave little tidbits here and there -- things that, at the start, just adding to the little collectible-personality some of us have, but left them enough of an opening to grow on. Arks story is such an incredible story but its always been so hard to fully understand. You have created a literal 2 hour movie of arks story better explained than anyone else. Well done, this was amazing
It doesnt help that it has multiple recons and multiple writers with different ideas.

New sub :)

I've only played Ark off and on about 2 years now, only this past year really getting into boss fights, and max level dinos, and exploring new maps never knowing there was an actual story to Ark.
