I owned this beautiful Z in forest green with white stripes. Nothing better sounding than the solid lifter cam and headers. Was a great walk down memory lane. Thanks

As a mustang owner, I think this was the best muscle car ever made. If Chevy made a modern Camaro with retro styling from this generation, I think I’d trade in my s550 mustang for one. Awesome looking car.
@@justdoinit2378 I know I did. My first car, (in 1972), was a 1970 Dodge Charger with a 440 Six Pack. Every time I got in it, it felt special. Looking at how the gauges were arranged, the tactile feel of real buttons instead of an info screen. The raw unrefined feel of driving it. Opening the hood and knowing that you could easily do maintenance. I have a new Challenger Scat Pack with a Shaker hood, and while it feels good and will outrun the 70 Charger, it feels different. The 70 Charger was a “manly man” ruff around the edges machine. The new cars are so refined that they just drive you instead of you driving them. But I’m glad I got to experience what some call “muscle car 2.0.” And as I age, refined helps me continue to drive.
The 1970 Z/28 is one of the most beautiful classic muscle cars, IMO, and the LT1 is a legendary engine. The RS appearance package with its bumperettes made the front end better looking as well, and I definitely prefer the Corvette inspired quad round taillights of the early second-gen F body Camaros. Great video, and I love the car.
If I could design a 2025 Camaro, it would have a front clip similar to the first gen RS/SS hidden headlights, and a rear clip with round dual taillights of the early second gen.
Awsome man! My dad has a 1969 z/28 camaro and a 1969 convertible camaro and he will never ever sell it. Those kinds of cars is hard to find these days, and if you can find them they probably are all rotted and rusted out or some of them were restored. Keep up the great work!
True. Late 80s dailied a original stock 69 SS 350. Every morning 100 ni round trip to the beach to surf, hard driving super reliable car. Points ignition...only lifted the hood to change oil same with my 70 Z28
Man what a car! It's soooo beautiful when a Hugger Orange Chevy matches the Orange small/big block. The whole color scheme sticks out fantastically. Awesome review as always Joe! Love it. Can't wait for more vids
I had a 1970 rs Z /28 when I got my drivers license.I bought this car from my brother.for $ 2800. It is lime green with black stripes. I best thing about this story is I'm 69 years old now and I still.have the car totally stock condition !
@@pagebutler9891 Ooooh "Citrus Green" Z. Too cool, best I've had was a 79' Z with the "Bandit" colors. 4 speed, fun car and pretty potent. Frankly, I'd love to talk about experiences people had with these cars over a beer. Owners can provide incredible insight. I've always been happy for those who own these cars or have at one point.
Old cars have so much style. Yeah they're a little more crude but driving cars like this really make you respect the power they put out. Because new cars have so many electronic controls people are under the impression they are a good driver when in reality they aren't. If you can handle an old muscle car then you can handle a ton more. Great review Joe and team.
This!! If there were no nannies on new cars they would be illegal to produce. EVen "turning TC off" the car still has some doing the job to an extent .
My dad had a 70 Z/28. Bought it brand new right after he got home from Vietnam. He regrets ever selling it. He loves to tell me stories about all the cars he beat.
Thanks Joe for this video. I love seeing these vids on old school muscle cars. While I love modern technology, there’s nothing like a classic. Keep them coming if you can!
My current car is a 17' Super Sport Camaro 6 speed. Love it. Had a 69' Road Runner years ago. Had a 67' Ford F100 Stepside Pickup 6'bed with a 4:11 rear and a 352 v8 running dual glasspacks back in the day. The highway rumble at high RPM was music to my ears. This was back in the mid 70s and 80s.
Yes! Please Chevrolet make a modern Camaro Z28 or RS, just like this! Many people including me would be sooo interested in getting one! Thanks Joe for showing this Fantastic old school Camaro to everyone here!
Yes, love to see more of these incredible nostalgia rides, particularly the muscle years such as this gorgeous Z28. Great video, fantastic csr. My favorite generation of Camaro. Period
This bring back memories Joe! My friend had a Z28 and I had 1968 Shelby GT350 Mustang with 4 speed manual. We had some spirited runs against each other, of course only when safe and no traffic on the road we were on. Was a great time to be young and alive!
This car is 4 yrs. older than me. Nice 1970 Camaro Z/28 RS, 1 of 8,733 built. 1970 was the only year for the "bread loaf" head rests. M22 was the rock crusher. The gas filler was behind the license plate. You are correct about the 4:10 gears and RPM.
This was my favorite generation of the Camaro and I'd love to see GM base the "next" Camaro on this design. Sadly, if the Camaro experiences another rebirth, it'll probably be an EV and that just doesn't sit well with me.
Loved the pure classic muscle car. It was time when it was just YOU and the CAR, NO assistance with computers, and they were lightweight. Thanks for sharing, captain.
This is a beauty from Chevy in 1970. Priced under $5k then and you had options to choose from and not overloaded with features the driving experience and nostalgic feeling makes this car more appealing!
A great time to be alive my father was a paint supervisor where these cars were made in Norwood he had a orange SS 396 that we raced at the drag strip and I had a red with red interior COPO Camaro gasoline was $0.32 a gallon and I could go through 16 gallons in one night drag racing God bless you general motors for all the good times never wrecked it never killed nobody and acquired every ticket except vehicular manslaughter in triplicate once again thank you general motors
Love the muscle cars from late 60’s and early 70’s. My first love was a ‘69 corvette with 427. My little rocket. Lol More please! Where is that red vette ? 😃
I have a 1973 Camaro with a 454 block and 427 Internals. 450+ HP. It belonged to my father. He left it to me when I turned 25. I was funny seeing heads turn when they saw a young guy driving it. 34 Now and its getting some work done. Its a visceral experience to drive one. Great Review!
The old Camaros look way better than any new ones IMO. Ya, I agree with @david2888, do more classic muscle like a Super B, Roadrunner, 68 Charger, GTO, 442, etc... Joe, that would be sick!
The 1970 Camaro RS Z-28 was Bill Mitchell at this peak, the sheer organic shapes that meld into a beautiful whole and his homage to the FERRARI 250 SWB GT which he loved, a Trans Am car for the street.
Cool to see this. My father has a 74 Z/28 that he gave me for my 21st birthday but I always still considered it his (I'm now 34, still haven't driven it). Been blocked in our garage for years, it hasn't been started in probably 15 years. 44K miles, gutted with a roll cage and tons of bolt on mods. Going to try to get to it this summer, to start bringing it back to life.
My buddy picked up a used on and took me for a ride it it...way back in 1980. I thought it was brutally fast and would lay a nice scratch in 3rd gear. I recall it was referred to a 70 1/2 model because it came out mid year. His was copper colored without the stripe. Mods back then were a set of Centerline Auto Drag wheels, Mickey Thompson S/S radials or some BFGs, Lakewood slapper traction bars, Hooker headers and a must is flipping over the air cleaner lid to get the nice induction sound when you opened up the 4 barrels on that carb. Can't forget the JVC tape deck, equalizer and some 6x9 Jensens in the back shelf! Let's go cruise the strip!
I had a 1970 Z28 clone. It had the solid lift cam, Muncie rockcrusher and .373 posi rear-end. It did have a center console though. Great car. Thanks for the video Joe.
I love your videos, and great seeing this 1970 1/2 Camaro RS/Z28. I myself have a ‘70 SS396 Chevelle. Just one note: the M21 is not the Rock Crusher, that was the M22 :) - I’m also waiting for my 2023 Camaro LT1 that I ordered last summer… it was built 6/6/23, and is sitting in Lansing right now, waiting for a ride. Have a great day, and continue to spike in some classic muscle cars.
You are right : the M22 is the Rock Crusher ! And the M21 comes in either a close ratio or wide ratio version. At 15 years old, I went to work earning $1.00 per hour, and saved up $900. And at 17 years old, I bought a new 1969 Z28 for $3,700.
I love that you did a muscle car review , I’m 66 , had a 69 GTO, and a 72 Olds 442, that Joe , was a golden era, you should do more of these, young motor heads love these 70s muscle cars🙏🏼 MORE!!!!
For cars like this you should really buy a set of bi-directional mic’s that will create a nice surround sound experience with such an amazing sounding engine!
Great job Joe on the Z/28 classic This Camaro one of my must haves and is a bucket list car My sought after car is a 71 Z/28 split bumper RS white with a Blk interior 4speed preferred loaded up had many Camaros just never ever was able to fine the correct car Thanks for a enjoyable moment back time!
I'm a little late to the comments, but I see a lot of comments on the nostalgia. I didn't have a second gen, but I had a 1988 third gen Camaro. It was my first Camaro and I bought it in 2001. It was a v6 5 speed manual, red with silver ground effects and a rich kid had just bought a brand new Mustang GT because he didn't care about the Camaro anymore. It had a huge dent in the passenger door, the clutch was gone in it, the brake pads had little to no pad on them, the seats badly needed upholstery, etc. The one bright spot was that the engine fired right up and was still silky smooth running. I bought it for $500 believe it or not. Yes, it was a 2.8 V6.....but dammit, it was my first Camaro. I spent over $7,000 restoring her to her former glory. I will never forget the day I drove it home from the paint shop. Looking just as it did in 1988, I fired it up and as I drove home, "Faithfully" by Journey came on the stereo. I'm man enough to admit that I cried like a baby. The nostalgia hits hard in these cars and they can be a form of "time machine", so to speak. I'm wanting to get a second generation like this one, but they've priced me out of the market.
@@RaitisRides No worries. The M22 has a loud distinctive gear whine sound that can't be missed. I'm old enough to have owned those type of musclecars when they were new. Boy I wish I kept some of them. Please do some more old musclecar reviews.
WOW!! Thanks very much, Raiti’s Rides for your time, dedication, presentation and awesome for these videos. This one was especially Great! Because I grew up during the muscle car years. I graduated high school in 1964 and these cars were everywhere. There were drag races and such. Excellent!!
Awesome 👍👍 Back in the early 80s I owned a 340 cuda' and we had a drag racing spot that everyone went to and I had awesome duels with a guy who owned a 1970 .5 Z 2/8 balanced and blue printed. Sweet rides.
My first car was a 67' Camaro with the 327 automatic and in 1988 I bought a 69'Rally Sport in Hugger Orange with the Matching hounds tooth interior..seeing this video makes me "Jones" for another 67'-70' Camaro so bad!! Thank you for this video..I love the sound of this car with the 4 speed and solid lifter camshaft.
As the proud owner of three early 2nd gen Camaros, I'm happy to proclaim it one of the best looking muscle cars of all time. Something that doesn't get talked about a lot is how much better the 2nd gen handled over its predecessors. As much as I love the 1st generation, unless that front linkage has been modified and modernized, I'll take the sure road hugging feel of a 2nd gen any day. As for styling cues, search youtube for any number of videos on restomodded early 2nd gens...can't beat a modern powertrain and suspension when paired with a phenomenal chassis.
Can’t wait to get home and watch this (wife loves watching your reviews too). Just reading the comments and I would also love to see more classic car “ON THROTTLE”!!!! My dad had a 71 Camaro SS from 74 until about 8 years ago.. I currently have a 77 Z28!!!
Do a review on the 1970 Trans Am. Or the T/A from 1971 455 HO TO the 1973 T/A 455. There is no need to do any on the limited production 455 SD. To much $$$🤑 and chances of finding a genuine 455 SD vs. a counterfeit is nill.
The nice thing about this era of Camaro is that you if you can find one of the later 78 or 79 Camaros for real cheap, you can retrofit the front and back end to look like a 70 or 71 Camaro and make a great driver without worrying about wrecking an expensive classic. Put in a crate 350, add a Holley sniper and you can have a reliable car to have a blast. Or put in an LS motor from a wrecked late model and there you go.
Thanks so much for the review of this beautiful Z28. I love the 1970 model. I actually looked at a blue one in the showroom that spring after they were introduced in February 1970. Unfortunately, I could not afford one, being a high school senior and about to head to college. I would be pleased to see you mix in some classic car reviews.
Love the review! My first car wasn’t 1970 Z 28 Camaro, I bought it in 1974 off an engineer for $1850. It was forest green with white stripes or black interior. Oh yeah I wish I still had that vehicle it was so much fun..!
My first car that I purchased when I joined the Navy in 1988, was a 1971 Camaro Split Bumper Rally Sport. It was a cool car, but slow. It had a 307 with a 2 speed powerglide. I ended up getting it bored and added a Turbo 350 tranny. Woke the car up. Wish I would have kept it.
More and more of these reviews please Team Raiti! I'm old enough to have been around with these old beasties, actually helped a friend build a roller 70 1/2 Z, dropped a destroked 400 small block in with tunnel ram. Good old days, thanks for a great episode!!!
Hello, gearing was 3:73 standard... I owned one of these. There is much more "musclecar" in a Z28 package, you could mention the heavy duty springs, 5-leaf blades, front and rear swaybars, positraction 12-bolt axle, faster steering, 4-bolt engine with forged crank, rods and pistons, 780cfm Holley, solid lifters, fuelinjection slant plug big valve heads and moore... Anyways, in my opinion the best looking Camaro ever.
Joe! I’m so excited. I love your channel and watch religiously. I have a 1970 Z28 that my dad SCCA auto crossed for almost 10 years. Typing this before I even watch, and yes the 2nd gen is better than a Mustang in EVERY category(I may be a little biased). Thanks for making this video. 😊
In 1970 I bought my new $3699.99, 1969 Mustang Mach 1, 428 CJ with chin spoiler, shaker scoop and rear louvers. Without rear sway bars, it handled like a Tonka Toy Dumpster. I would've preferred this Camaro, by far. But with the flip down back seat, it was made for college! Ooh La La!!! 🤭
They should have taken more style cues from the second gen Camaro. Please showcase more of these classics if you can, Joe.
You got it David! Stay tuned!
I owned this beautiful Z in forest green with white stripes. Nothing better sounding than the solid lifter cam and headers. Was a great walk down memory lane. Thanks
1970 Z28 came with 3:73 gears, 4:10 gears was optional also Muncie M-21 transmission was standard, the M-22 Rock Crusher transmission was optional.

This Camaro one of my must haves and is a bucket list car
My sought after car is a
71 Z/28 split bumper RS white with a Blk interior 4speed preferred loaded up had many Camaros just never ever was able to fine the correct car
Thanks for a enjoyable moment back time!
Oldtimer and youngtimer reviews are much appreciated Joe! To see how things were "back then"...
69 Camaro SS Pace Car past owner here. owned it as a senior in High School. 1978. many memories.
Love that split bumper 70 too.
would love to see more muscle cars especially how they feel out of the manufacture
Yeah, I wouldn’t mind a couple old cars now and again!
Very cool!
The M22 transmission was called the rock crusher, not the M20 or M21.
Thanks for the intel Bob!
@@RaitisRides No worries. The M22 has a loud distinctive gear whine sound that can't be missed. I'm old enough to have owned those type of musclecars when they were new. Boy I wish I kept some of them.
Please do some more old musclecar reviews.
These classic cars has their own magic 🦾. Great work as always
I am so glad that you liked it
WOW!! Thanks very much, Raiti’s Rides for your time, dedication, presentation and awesome for these videos. This one was especially Great! Because I grew up during the muscle car years. I graduated high school in 1964 and these cars were everywhere. There were drag races and such. Excellent!!
Awesome 👍👍
Back in the early 80s I owned a 340 cuda' and we had a drag racing spot that everyone went to and I had awesome duels with a guy who owned a 1970 .5
Z 2/8 balanced and blue printed.
Joe love the Classico Camaro I feel like this was the apostle to the Muscle Cats AND even thiugh it Is low on tech by modern standards I love it.
You are the man Luis! I am so glad glad that you like this one.
@@RaitisRides You Aré welcome
My mom had one of these when I was a kid. It was copper with ivory interior. I was hoping GM would do a retro model based on the '70-73' Camaro,
They would screw it up like the modern ones.
Everything is going EV will mainly be trucks suv/crossovers, many "cars" from mfrs will be dropped.
Well said. 70 Z was hands down my fav driving musclecar of them all. Cant explain how it just was, never wanted the ride to stop
I have a 1/18th scale version of this beauty, you're a lucky man to see and drive one in person Joe
I love this back in time stuff. I m getting old n nostalgic. Thank you Joe
Awesome video!! I absolutely love the gen 2 '70-'73 Camaro design!
Love it!! I have a 71 Z 28. I added split bumper on mine. Took off the full bumper
LT-1 best small block in its day
Best looking Camaro ever...early 70's split bumper Z28! Great review Joe...please do more classic muscle cars..thank you!
Oh my goodness Raiti! The second generation of the Camaro and Firebird are awesome!! Please do some more reviews of classic muscle cars 😁 👍
Yeah!!! It's a classic.
Please Joe......more classic muscle cars .....USA USA. Great video, thank you.
Do more old school car reviews from time to time. This was very good
The nice thing about this era of Camaro is that you if you can find one of the later 78 or 79 Camaros for real cheap, you can retrofit the front and back end to look like a 70 or 71 Camaro and make a great driver without worrying about wrecking an expensive classic. Put in a crate 350, add a Holley sniper and you can have a reliable car to have a blast. Or put in an LS motor from a wrecked late model and there you go.
Joe, love getting back to the classics!!!
When I hear the number buck den and new we don’t improve a lot expect the price. Nice review like always 👍
That means the world!
Oh Raiti, I love your energy in your review! Awesome man!!
I would love to see more old muscle cars and specially some Pontiac TRANS AM
You got it Chad! Stay tuned!
Thanks Joe! This may be my favorite video you produced. Why? Bcuz this was the car IN my dreams back in the day. I'm 66, so this was my era.
That is a very nice car,
The seats are true for the car . Great car
Love it I had a 78
Oh man that is so cool!
🇺🇸 *CONGRATS to Joe, Lori and Steven* !! *You now have 1,000,000 subs* !! #RaitisRides 🇺🇸
Excellent segment! Would to see more classics like '70 Chevelle, '71 Old 442, '69 Mustang.
More and more of these reviews please Team Raiti! I'm old enough to have been around with these old beasties, actually helped a friend build a roller 70 1/2 Z, dropped a destroked 400 small block in with tunnel ram. Good old days, thanks for a great episode!!!
What an absolute beauty!
