There are many nice venues to perform and attractions here that are close to large airports and I know you would absolutely kill it here. I will pay your airfare!! Serious offer. :) I am that addicted .... lol
I think she was planning a US tour (or at least 1 concert), it was scheduled a bit after Russia invaded Ukraine after which she cancelled the show (probably problems with a visa since Russians weren't exactly welcome around the world), gave one final show in Moscow and after that show she left the country the same night (for good) and has been living in Spain for a while now. Once she gets permanent resident status in Spain it should be easier for her to travel the world I recon. In the mean time she can come to Belgium to give a concert :-D (wishful thinking though she has performed in Austria not so long ago).

As far as your playing goes you seem to have enough experience to notice if someone is not playing so point out the parts or songs in question I am not suggesting that this is what is happening with you…but when I was younger and I saw a very beautiful and talented piano player I would think they were no good. Then I grew up and realized maybe something else was going with me. Since then I try to admire talent and ignore any jealousy I may have. Now most of my favorite performances are by women…there are no limitations preventing women from being just as good….proven by Yuja Wang, Hiromi and vkgoeswild….all world class entertainers. Many artists use multi track which is fine if it’s not a secret. Some people multi in a few tracks after it is established they can play without it. Have a nice day I will subscribe I like what you are doing musically….it is interesting.

I only know Jazz chords for that is my limit. I guess I have to subscribe to you both. Nice video.
Gamazda really has an excellent and systematic classical musical education - all levels at the same Russian school of piano playing - music school, college, conservatory, a total of 19 years. The last two are world-class educational institutions with very good teachers. 🙂
@@Viktor19515 Really, I have been thinking of visiting Russia to see if its a good option to move to Russia. May be if that happens, I will have a look at the conservatory. For me I am self taught. Memories of the olde glock in high school: I was in marching band, there was a little synth ditty called Popcorn that has been popular in the mid 70s. My best friend was also in the percussion section and we started jamming Popcorn. It was fun.....RIP, dear girl.
What amazes me is that no one takes note of what instruments she plays Petrof, Bluthner and Bosendorfer. Top tier pianos period, when she plays a Bluthner it makes a Steinway D sound like a toy.
I don't know if you still read comments. But for anyone who likes what she does, i strongly would recommend her rendition of Arials from System of a dawn. The Video creates an atmosphere that perfectly fits the music. I think she is as much an artist as a musician.
She's definately gifted and highly skilled. And although I like many of her covers, I prefer vkgoeswild's covers. Gamazda usually has better videos and focusses more on the show-element of playing these pieces. Vika aka vkgoeswild focusses more on the music and creates transcriptions of rock/metal songs with an exceptional accuracy. She usually weaves multiple melodies together with the right hand ( or 2 hands combining into a third melody ). Check her rendition of Lulaby by The Cure, or Don't stop believing by Journey.
I always liked her playing. Even bought a few of her transcripts. I've been confused like you on some of her recordings on how the camera was used. I've noticed the keys are still down after she plays them for a few seconds then it goes up before she plays it again
@@matticawood I just remembered I texted it to a friend so I found the video. It was her cover of Aerosmith Don't Wanna Miss a Thing at the 1:55 mark that notes stuck on her grand piano
She usually (but not always) does the video and audio separately, so that she can use more interesting locations with pianos that don't sound very good. Check out her Bohemian Rhapsody for an example. (She has 2 versions. One is on a street piano.) And some of her pianos sound much worse than that one.
It's not bad, but there's more elegant versions out there. If you can do without the sexy looks, check out Evgeny Kissin. He's much more fluid - a serious pianist. Up a notch or two from that is the insane Cziffra arrangement, famously played by Yuja Wang. THAT is insane. Gamazda is average in comparison. Not bad but not exceptional either. If it weren't for her looks (and well-chosen covers), nobody would care about her playing.
As a classically trained pianist, I could tell very quickly that she was classically trained. BTW, you are strikingly beautiful -- to somebody, just not me. 😀
13:30 She earned her degree from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the top music school in their country. She did a Q&A video (subtitled) several years ago where she discussed her training.
I've been following her for years now and she's quite amazing. It re-lighted my love for piano music again and maybe one day I'll try to play piano myself. But her video's are just that: video's. In some it is obvious that there's a separate audiotrack but then again it's meant to entertain people (and gain views since it's a source of income). But even if the audio is not always correct on the video it doesn't change much, she can play a piano damn well... But that shouldn't be a surprise since Russia "made" some extraordinary classical musicians. It's one of Russia's export products :)
hi matthew, in the slim chance that you see this comment i'd like you to react to a piece called "Suiren" by Sakuzyo. it's undoubtedly the hardest (doubtedly humanly possible) piano piece i've ever seen and i'd like to hear your thoughts on it! it's a pretty old and in my opinion EXTREMELY underrated piece and if you, let's say, "shined some light" into it and allowed more people to discover it that would be really cool! i have yet to see someone play this piece accurately
behind 5 minutes of video , there are tens of hours of tries and rehearsals . she also has concerts every now and then . so yeah , she's a beast of a classically trained pianist
yeah god only knows how much time she puts into makeing one little vid. so much time and effort go into it. but honestly, she deserves every last bit of praise for her covers since they are far from average covers like most people do. she puts her own spin on it at times unlike those wannabe-famous youtubers. yes she has the resources also because she was born fairly wealthy, but her love or music, dedication is next level.hence i could listen to it all day long
I agree that it would be great to hear her do many "serious" music (classial, modern, does not matter, or jazz), as she is a clearly a very good pianist and above all she has a powerfull and interresting style, reminding me a bit of Cyprien Katsaris. And there is way better and more interessting music out there that pop and rock music, which tends to be a bit bland and repetitive at times. But of course you reach way more people with "popular" music, so it seems that is what she will stick to, and that is fair enough.
@@ratharong3590 it is probably just a cultural thing. I am Dutch, we do not like overacting. We have a saying that translates into English like this: "Just act normal, that is crazy enough"
She would be a monster playing jazz. There's been others who were classically trained that switched to jazz and ruled (Oscar Peterson). Barbara Dennerlein does it on the Hammond B3 and was one of the first who connected her Hammond with Midi so the bass pedals sound better. For Gamazda, it's great she's using loops to add more sound parts. I think she'll need to start her own band, and if she wants to really be the star, she'll have to be the front person and sing. If she wants more of a challenge, she could explore bass pedals. People like this are from another planet. They're connected to the music mainframe or it's like Neo in the Matrix when he learns Kung Fu and he's a master at it.
You sound just as good as Gamazda, but you lack long blonde hair, thick thunder-thighs wrapped in silky stockings, a goth-style leather belt, and mini stuff giraffe on your hip. From an audio perspective, you're basically identical.
Clearly Gamazda is a great pianist, there is no way to say otherwise, a musician's reason for existence is to provoke sensations and generate emotional portals in people, she does it, beyond the techniques and skills, she has the gift, she knows it.
Pretty girl. The whole conversation points to the reality that musicality is in the ear of the beholder. She is technically competent and makes clever use of artificial sound layering and good camera production. She is very conventional making it all fairly predictable. All that being said as far as youtube musicians go I myself will opt to spend my tube time listening to the likes of Tory Slusher though she's not a pianist... but in the end to quote Hendrx "what is music m'love?"
She's obviously good, but to my ears as a drummer, I think she sometimes has timing issues. I think this is fairly common with classical musicians who play modern music, and I'd be willing to bet she has never been in a band before with a good drummer. Her playing would really take off if she joined a band. That aside, I still enjoy what she does. Her cover of Metallica's "One" is still my favorite!
@@5pp000 There's no proof about that, but I don't think it's intentional. It would be more pointed and deliberate (and not happen all the time) if it was. The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." .....2 Esdras 7:75 ///////////

The classical pieces sound fantastic, but most of the rock stuff is a bit safe & hackery, there doesn't seem to be much thought into the voicings. It's basically what you might hear from most pianists at a house party taking song requests and playing for the first time. Thanks! I’m glad you appreciate those transitions…it’s a fun detail to add in 😊
Matthew I wholeheartedly adore your analysis and original funky covers.
Yes, she is. Do not need to watch your video.
Exactly!
But you did....and commented ;)
Her Master of Puppets performance is incredible. And psyches herself up and plays at full strength for 7 minutes. She’s clearly exhausted at the end.
Again iv listened to gamazda for years now, but anytime you do a rendition of a cover after listening to something while analysing, i just think OH MY.
Your touch and playine moves me in ways most cant.
It's great what Gamazda has done here, and people love her. Personally, I'm in love with Domi. And Hiromi. And Yuja.
Wonderful analysis, and your ability to tease apart the various threads and demonstrate them on-the-fly leaves me thunderstruck ;-)
Really gifted girl with great interpretations!
You're just looking for a date with her. But the approach is quite acceptable).
Short answer,.........YES..... Long answer, .....an incredible pianist. Stupid question,....YES
I enjoyed listening in to your ideas and being introduced to fresh perspective of Gamazda.
Fabulous technique and so inspiring in those chromatic passages!
I found her only a few short weeks ago and was instantly addicted. I would love to see her tour the US so I would have a shot at seeing her. Alexandra if you're reading this please come here and especially the Toledo Ohio area. Cedar point amusement park is a short drive away for some roller coaster fun!!
She's doing a concert in Berlin January 2025. Trailing it on her website. If I had the opportunity I'd love to hear her play live.
thanks for this video Matthew!
Well done Matthew, super musical analyse, very interresting....

13:04 the sound is definitely a VST, sounding a lot like Pianoteq specifically - I'm guessing audio-midi conversion or pianos with midi systems equipped when applicable
There's a reason why the piano tone sounds identical from the second clip to the last clip haha
Yeah I think she might play using midi and then in thunderstruck (for example) add some extra stuff before or after 😊

I totally agree!❤
Both of these pianists blow me away.
They both multi track and cheat . Gamazda especially. Not on all songs though
@@BradHanrattyPiano I don’t think so I have played the piano for 40 years and that’s not true. But this I why Matt should take a look because he did mention that for this video did he. I mean fake piano playing sucks. I will look at your channel you do have piano in your name…..I will edit after looking at evidence.
@@BradHanrattyPiano I don’t think so I have been stealing her arrangement ideas for years I look at her hands so I can learn what she’s doing and the songs I have looked they match exactly. If you could point out the a song and which part she isn’t playing I will take a look. Until then I can’t take it too seriously.
Peter Bence has the most technical ability outside of classical I have seen maybe ever and he multitracks it doesn’t take away from is obviously extremely high skill. Some people multi in a few tracks after it is established they can play without it. Have a nice day I will subscribe I like what you are doing musically….it is interesting.
Her fingering looks like someone who is already with classical music background then later switch. Updating my comment. For one to play bumble bee that smooth, means she plays classical really well. Lolz, I didn't see that one coming. I commented before watching to the end. Me too classical pianist and a producer. I play any kind of music except for Jazz solo improvisation.
Can't really say what I am doing right or wrong on the piano. I think I might need others advice as well.
She is a brilliant pianist.
👍💯 I SAW THEM ! And I’m clueless!!!!
There’s definitely some camera/audio layering going on…particularly for the recordings that are on digital pianos 😊
@@matticawood I just remembered I texted it to a friend so I found the video. It was her cover of Aerosmith Don't Wanna Miss a Thing at the 1:55 mark that notes stuck on her grand piano
Sticky keys!
She usually (but not always) does the video and audio separately, so that she can use more interesting locations with pianos that don't sound very good. Check out her Bohemian Rhapsody for an example. (She has 2 versions. One is on a street piano.) And some of her pianos sound much worse than that one.
@@SeeFreeTV 👍💯
I came into this thinking you were going to try and tear her apart, Glad you didn't. 13:50... that is pure talent right there, awesome.
The Flight of the Bumblebee was very well executed. I actually liked that piece better than the heavy chords. It's obvious she plays well.
Aiight, look there Matt.. I’m always thunderstruck but your beauty, I just thought it needless to be said. 😊
I'm Thunderstruck by your beauty....there you go, someone has said it to you now
I've been following her for years now and she's quite amazing.
I am thunderstruck by your beauty.
behind 5 minutes of video , there are tens of hours of tries and rehearsals . she also has concerts every now and then . so yeah , she's a beast of a classically trained pianist
yeah god only knows how much time she puts into makeing one little vid. so much time and effort go into it. but honestly, she deserves every last bit of praise for her covers since they are far from average covers like most people do. she puts her own spin on it at times unlike those wannabe-famous youtubers. yes she has the resources also because she was born fairly wealthy, but her love or music, dedication is next level.hence i could listen to it all day long
@@SNOOPY_- 💯 I as well
I agree that it would be great to hear her do many "serious" music (classial, modern, does not matter, or jazz), as she is a clearly a very good pianist and above all she has a powerfull and interresting style, reminding me a bit of Cyprien Katsaris. And there is way better and more interessting music out there that pop and rock music, which tends to be a bit bland and repetitive at times. But of course you reach way more people with "popular" music, so it seems that is what she will stick to, and that is fair enough.
good 88 operator, but why do women typically sit like they're about to fall off the bench?! Looks painful.
Many classically trained people sit like this.
It’s an insider secret to increase drama, shhh.
I really dislike the over performance she brings to the stool, but her playing is absolutely great.

Her upright piano actually sounds like a digital piano or piano vst
You sound just as good as Gamazda, but you lack long blonde hair, thick thunder-thighs wrapped in silky stockings, a goth-style leather belt, and mini stuff giraffe on your hip. From an audio perspective, you're basically identical.
He is better!
The answer is obviously yes, the long answer is yes but while we just stare at this gorgeous woman for 5 minutes while she shreds a piano
What piano?
I was staring at the keys personally 😏 but each to there own 😂
Clearly Gamazda is a great pianist, there is no way to say otherwise, a musician's reason for existence is to provoke sensations and generate emotional portals in people, she does it, beyond the techniques and skills, she has the gift, she knows it.
Yes, she is absolutely good on the piano. I am saying this without even watching your video.
I think I know what you mean by "timing issues", and I would be willing to bet that that's intentional rubato.
Exactly. I find it jarring and it throws me right off.
@@5pp000 There's no proof about that, but I don't think it's intentional. It would be more pointed and deliberate (and not happen all the time) if it was. Peter Bence does a much better job in his covers. He needs to work harder anyway since short skirts wouldn't help him much "being understood as a musician".

I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?" 76 He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. 77 For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times.
78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High. 79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear the Most High -- 80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways.
81 The first way, because they have scorned the law of the Most High. 82 The second way, because they cannot now make a good repentance that they may live. 83 The third way, they shall see the reward laid up for those who have trusted the covenants of the Most High. 84 The fourth way, they shall consider the torment laid up for themselves in the last days. 85 The fifth way, they shall see how the habitations of the others are guarded by angels in profound quiet. 86 The sixth way, they shall see how some of them will pass over into torments. 87 The seventh way, which is worse than all the ways that have been mentioned, because they shall utterly waste away in confusion and be consumed with shame, and shall wither with fear at seeing the glory of the Most High before whom they sinned while they were alive, and before whom they are to be judged in the last times.
88 "Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body. 89 During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly. 90 Therefore this is the teaching concerning them: 91 First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders.
92 The first order, because they have striven with great effort to overcome the evil thought which was formed with them, that it might not lead them astray from life into death. 93 The second order, because they see the perplexity in which the souls of the unrighteous wander, and the punishment that awaits them. 94 The third order, they see the witness which he who formed them bears concerning them, that while they were alive they kept the law which was given them in trust. 95 The fourth order, they understand the rest which they now enjoy, being gathered into their chambers and guarded by angels in profound quiet, and the glory which awaits them in the last days. 96 The fifth order, they rejoice that they have now escaped what is corruptible, and shall inherit what is to come;
and besides they see the straits and toil from which they have been delivered, and the spacious liberty which they are to receive and enjoy in immortality. 97 The sixth order, when it is shown to them how their face is to shine like the sun, and how they are to be made like the light of the stars, being incorruptible from then on. 98 The seventh order, which is greater than all that have been mentioned, because they shall rejoice with boldness, and shall be confident without confusion, and shall be glad without fear, for they hasten to behold the face of him whom they served in life and from whom they are to receive their reward when glorified.
99 This is the order of the souls of the righteous, as henceforth is announced; and the aforesaid are the ways of torment which those who would not give heed shall suffer hereafter." 100 I answered and said, "Will time therefore be given to the souls, after they have been separated from the bodies, to see what you have described to me?" 101 He said to me, "They shall have freedom for seven days, so that during these seven days they may see the things of which you have been told, and afterwards they shall be gathered in their habitations."
102 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, show further to me, thy servant, whether on the day of judgment the righteous will be able to intercede for the unrighteous or to entreat the Most High for them, 103 fathers for sons or sons for parents, brothers for brothers, relatives for their kinsmen, or friends for those who are most dear." 104 He answered me and said, "Since you have found favor in my sight, I will show you this also. The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." .....2 Esdras 7:75

It may be for the looks, I don't know, but she seems to me to sit a tad too far from the keyboard and a bit too on the edge of the stool.
Who are you going after next? Vika? Lola?

The classical pieces sound fantastic, but most of the rock stuff is a bit safe & hackery, there doesn't seem to be much thought into the voicings.
