For those who don't know, in basketball, one of the teams may put the ball on the floor as a sign of respect at the end of the game when it wins by a much larger score than its opponent. And it seems to me that this is exactly what happened, as someone began to clap from the stands and support. Also, a similar sign of respect is when a team just dribbles in the center of the court, stops attacking and the remaining seconds just everyone waits for the game to end
In all my years I’ve never heard of this. My coach would’ve canceled our next game and had us running laps instead. You play until that final buzzer or whistle! Tf has the game come to? Ain’t nothing more disrespectful than flooring the ball as if to say “game’s over chumps”. That’s a fight waiting to happen.
@ ok then they both will be blindsided one day lol regardless if it was the whole team that’s horrible sportsmanship. My bad for growing up when values were taught and instilled in the youth.
@@YouPrincipal well if you’ve watched many nba games you would realize there really isn’t a point a trying hard till last second and risk getting injured when your team is guaranteed winning or losing
@@toppekkagame Never really watched NBA, but isn't that true for most time-based games? I've never seen a soccer team leave the court before the final whistle is blown - even when they lead by a huge margin.
@@YouPrincipal And so in basketball. No one leaves the court until the final whistle and exchanging respectful gestures with each opposing teams. The reason why players do these things(placing the ball steady still on the floor or dribbling it slowly) is just a sign of respect. The leading team know they are far ahead and don’t have to do the final shot or make offensive plays at all as to why some players will either put down the ball on the floor and just walk away, or dribble it until the whistle. The opposing team, to also show their respect and recognition towards the winning team, should not attempt any nonsense plays as well like stealing the ball or shooting. Attempting any of those during the last few seconds eventhough you know it wouldn’t do anything will just make you look like a disrespectful sore loser.

To me this stems from a mindset of only wanting to win and not playing because you enjoy the sport and its neither healthy nor respectful.
