I ordered a Jaguar online and they sent me a Jazzmaster by mistake (not Andertons I should point out). I kept it and I love it. One day I’ll get a Jaguar, maybe the Johnny Marr signature if I remortgage the house.
I can certainly hear the difference in the Jazzmaster's warmer wide-wound single coil pickups vs. the Jag's standard bright high-wound single coil pickups. I am buying a Jazzmaster! 🥰
Andersons are experts at comparing apples to oranges. In one video comparing Strat and Tele pickups they used a NOISELESS Strat and a TRUE SINGLE COIL Tele.
Always thought I preferred the Jaguar, until I got one of each. Now I have sold my Jag and own three Jazzmasters. Heed my warning: don't buy a Jazzmaster, unless you wanna neglect all your other guitars and start collecting them....
I always preferred the Jaguar, but purely because of all the chrome. I just love the chrome. And I don’t mind the shorter scale length, although I’m pretty sure I’d be using a set of twelves on them to compensate. 🥴
Yeah you need some heavy strings for that scale, the trem to work properly and tuning stability. The jag and jm would’ve originally been made for the tension of flatwounds.
I'm telling you, get used to lighter strings. You'll develop way better touch with both hands. It's so much easier to play expressively with light strings. 10s on a Jag are like 9s on a Floyd guitar, very slinky and nice. The Jaguar is so awesome imo because while it is cramped scale-wise, the super low tension makes it so easy to bend and fret that the small scale doesn't matter. It ends up just being a super easy, fun to play guitar with a unique vibe. However, if you take away that low-tension aspect, that is, if you have a short scale and stiff strings, then that highlights the small spacing because you need more pressure to fret and bend.
@@guyincognito320 : Believe me, I have gone through this a long time ago. I started to play the guitar 43 years ago and I started with a regular set of nines (.009). In the first 12 years or so I tried everything. Different brands from super cheap to super expensive, I used a set of .008’s and even .007’s. I didn’t like it. Back to .009’s, up to .010’s, then I played a hybrid set for one or two years (Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom), then I decided I could use a little more on the high end and a little less on the low end. So I started to play a set of .011/.048’s and that’s basically what I’ve been using ever since, because that’s what I feel comfortable with. Very comfortable in fact. And I’ve also played heavier strings. I know my stuff. I’ve done my homework. I know that I would prefer a set of .012’s on a Jaguar. I don’t need to get used to thinner strings. 😊
Where is the full length video link ? Is there a full length comparison video ? I bought a Jaguar and a Jazzmaster in the same week, both Squier CVs. I gotta say that the Jazzmaster comes more naturally to me than the Jaguar. I thought that everything would be easier with the shorter 24" scale of the Jag but I found that I really had to work with it. I'm still persevering with the Jag. Mainly Because I refuse to let it beat me ... The Jazzmaster presents me no such problems.
Is the Jazzmaster in the middle position or neck for the 'main' circuit? Comparing both pickups on the Jag vs the neck on the jazzmaster doesn't help massively
24.75 is too cramped for me because there's still tension. When you go down to 24 it's somehow not cramped feeling because it's way less tension so it's easy to bend it makes me play like a maniac. I love the Jaguar. It's like it's so small I just see it as a fun little toy.
For me, it is the actual physical distance. Even at Gibson scale, the frets are too close together, and Jaguars are even smaller. At the Fender scale, my hand suddenly fits on the fretboard.
You did the Jag on the bridge pup and the JM on the neck.... why do people do this. Neumann ABd their mics on a rig and the guy kept changing pickups during the AB. WTF.
When Fender released the 60th Anniversary Jaguar & blended the Jazzmaster neck & potentially created the JagMaster, everything came together & made the best version. Otherwise, Jazzmaster comes in a close second. Jaguar neck is too short.
The Jaguar has only a 24" scale length. It's easier to play for guys who aren't 6 feet tall. The Squier "Contemporary Jaguar" has a solid roasted maple neck. The one I bought, it's intonation was perfect out of the box! Even at the 1st and 2nd frets! It also has a solid bridge, unlike the trem Fender you got there. It costs less and sounds much better than either of the models you have presently. I also use a beefier lower tone pickup configuration. These both sound tinny. That Fender Jaguar sound exceptionally tinny.
Oh yeah. Humbuckers on the Squier I have. No electronic hum... Your also comparing P-90's vs single coils... Definitely not an apples to apples comparison... More like apples to strawberry...
You say 'hear the difference' but it's all in the feel, 24 inch scale feels super comfortable to me while I feel like I'm playing a baritone when I use my JM
A jaguar can never ACTUALLY learn jazz music. Just like a Master will never run fast enough on all fours to grab a living lunch in the wild. And that's your main difference.
Why? They’re the most stable trem outside of a Floyd. Once I’ve set my offsets up, I’m able to go nuts and only end up maybe a few cents off by the end of the song
Honestly disappointed y’all only provided a lead circuit demo of both for the jag and neck for the jazzmaster, I don’t think it shows the difference properly. Anyways, I honestly prefer the rhythm circuit of the jag, with the lead circuit the jazzmaster definitely has a more full range tone while the jag is more only bright.
It's crazy how few people i see using the Fender R&B and Surf guitar to not play the things it sounds best at. Yeah, if you olay a jag like a jazzmaster it is not going to sound good. They aren't really comparable because they're better at diffrent things.
I could kind of agree with them being able to replicate a Mustang but Jaguar and Jazzmasters sound too different, I think, for Strats and Teles to be able to replicate them
The Jaguar is quicker but the Jazzmaster is more bop di bik skadiddle moob.
Uhm, yeah uuuh definitely
Most sane guitarist tone talk.
@@shanesonksen1515 You know it.
I actually understood that. 😅
Can't beat those wide-range single coils on the JM

The Marr Jaguar is my favorite and I play it the most. It's the most fun you can have with 6 strings! 🎈
@@axesandelbows414 I must admit it sounds great in all the demos I’ve seen online. I better start saving!😁👍
I played it and instantly fell in love, just wasn’t in the price range unfortunately. I went with a TVL JM instead, love that guitar too!
@@elishadn nice 👌
Just order a Jazzmaster and they’ll send you a Jaguar lol 😄
The honest joy on the face when strumming the JazzMaster says all you need to know

Jazzmaster is my go-to ever since got one. Really versatile and a great blues instr.
I own an original 1964 Jaguar and it’s my baby!! Love the sound and how much it’s aged as well
That's awesome! Is it a sunburst finish model?
Did I see more of a smile on your face with the Jazzmaster?
Maybe next time though, compare pickup to pickup!
He did pretty much.
@@therover4141 Except he didn't... He went from rhythm circuit to both pickups on the jaguar and rhythm circuit to neck pickup on the jazzmaster.
@Aurichu hell maybe I missed that I wasn't paying that close attention.
Andersons are experts at comparing apples to oranges. In one video comparing Strat and Tele pickups they used a NOISELESS Strat and a TRUE SINGLE COIL Tele.
Utterly mesmerising. Well done 👍
I'll take both 🎵🎵🎵
I love the bigger sound of the Jazzmaster, but I sure do like the Jaguar short scale length.
I really enjoy my Jaguar. Variety is fun. 🤘🤘
Always thought I preferred the Jaguar, until I got one of each. Now I have sold my Jag and own three Jazzmasters. Heed my warning: don't buy a Jazzmaster, unless you wanna neglect all your other guitars and start collecting them....
Jazzmasters are seriously good guitars. I love my Jag too, but the JM gets most of the work.
I like them both.
the jaguar has a pretty basic single coil tone but those weird wide pickups on the jazzmaster have more drive and sound very unique
Do you mean the P90s?
@@madsam7582I don't believe they're p90s, just wide single coils :)
@@js6091 P90s ARE just wide single coils.
They're not owned by Gibson.

Yea that’s the new 70s vintera, they just came out with it recently

Jaguar sounds brighter, and looks cool.
Could you please do a shootout in short video between Behringer GI100 and Behringer B906? Same price, same purpose, different type of product.
I loved my jaguar. I played blues and still do on acoustic.
Jaguars are too short. That 24" does not work for me. Jazzmasters are the full 25.5" scale, which is what works for me.
You can get used to it.
I have a ‘70 jag and it took some getting used to. Got me prepared for the Rickenbacker 360/12.
I have big fat carrot fingers.

Your dream will come true. You don’t need to begin with a Custom Shop version (unless you can of course). 😬
Is this US/Japan/Mexico?
One day I'll own both. I want a Jag for the early Placebo thing.
Which one is more fun to shake?
You did the Jag on the bridge pup and the JM on the neck.... why do people do this. Neumann ABd their mics on a rig and the guy kept changing pickups during the AB. WTF.

Jazz Master for lead Jag for rhythm. Same as it ever was.
