I picked up the surf green model recently. Absolutely a great deal. The fret scratchiness is there but goes away after a couple hours of playing. Pickups are good but on the dark side when playing clean, so I find I have to brighten it up with the amp. Presets that sound fine on my strat and tele have less presence with this guitar. These look awesome. I bought a bullet mustang a couple of years ago and it’s an absolutely killer guitar for the price. Wish I could have had mine in one of these paint jobs now!!
With the quality of these Squier guitars these days at their prices, it's getting harder to just call them "beginner" guitars. I recently grabbed a Squier Affinity Telecaster for around $350 with tax (in Canada) that I prefer over my MiM Fender Telecaster that it may end up replacing in my rig and I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and own a decent bit of much more expensive gear.
My bullet mustang got a pickguard with angled HS pattern, white racing stripe and an overwound strat pickup in the neck position. My bullet tele got some alnico V pickups and vintage style tuners. Reasonably minor mods, but they both sound and play great :)
@Andertons Music Co I changed the pickups to Fender Tex Mex set, a black 3 ply pickguard (guitar is lake placid blue with indian laurel fretboard), CTS pots with Harley Benton knobs, TAD capacitor and Harley Benton locking tuners. Ordered one of these from Andertons after watching this video with a few too many beers in me. Its frickin awesome, vs my player series strat its a bit rough around the edges, you can really see where they cut costs making these. BUT, the neck feels great, the fret ends are nice and smooth, its super light, and it plays great. I haven't set this thing down in the six hours since i received it. Lee sums it up brilliantly when he said "i hate how good they are for the money..." It should be a bit shit, but i am worried it will become one of my favourite guitars.
Your videos and playing are always improving. New playing styles that always seem to fit the weapon at hand. Btw you know it's a cheap guitar when Lee makes it do a headstand lol.
Just recently bought a Squier Affinity Strat in Seafoam Green at a liquidation/closing sale here in the states. Normally $229 (175 pounds for those across the pond), and I snagged it new for only $109 (85 quid). It's one shhhhwwwweeeeeeeet little axe!

They sound way way better than flat stoptails or wraparounds. Too long to explain. There’s a few on my very very amateurish channel, if you’re curious for these Dorian bridges.
Bullet Mustangs are superb. Insanely good for the money, and bags of fun. I owned one until last week. Only reason I got rid, is that I need to make room for others. Ideally, I’d have kept it.
Aaron White out of the box, it’s fine. You can seriously take it out the box and start playing it without any real issues. Superb for the price point, and I’m convinced that pound for pound they’re the best guitars you can buy.
Wow, that intro was like the Black Sabbath tour bus crashed into Hawkwind on stage and they all started playing a blues riff. That was some seriously mighty sounds for such cheap guitars.
Great Scott! What playing! Anyway, can't find those two color Mustangs anywhere here in the states. Got the regular non race stripe model in white. Love it. If I ever see one in that red color it's going to be mine as well.
You don't realise how playable those thin-bodied Squiers are until you hold one. I have a Classic Vibe Duo-Sonic which is thin, light, and unbelievably easy to play.
Ive got one and gotta say I love it. Mine even had a thinner neck than modern C, which is why its my shredding machine :D someday Im going to change the pickups but now Im not brave enough to do it
I personally think that the Fender/Squire "Affinity"series seem to be the best low-end guitars that they have."Bullet"'s would run a very close second as far as quality in my mind (and in my fingers because I own 2 Affinity,& 2 Bullet Squires.ALL 4 of them play & sound great. I personally think that Squire, leaving China and switching to an Indonesian facility?.... That has caused the quality control,& just plain quality itself to skyrocket compared to Chinese Squires(just a personal opinion). For the price point you can't beat either one of these models. You can buy one for an accomplished guitar player and they could use it to do light gigs(Squier Stratocaster Affinity).I gigged with one.I still do on a regular basis.Every Thursday night. 1 & 1/2 hour set,Three times a night.(and I use a Squier Affinity Stratocaster on stage. My backup guitar, is another Squier Affinity Stratocaster). The only difference is the color, but these guitars would also be great for a kid in his bedroom learning how to play guitar playing along with Santana live at the Fillmore records or Allman Brothers live at the Fillmore. They're high quality guitars for a very good price..And for the price point you can't go wrong.
I like when 'normal players' like Lee demonstrates the guitars they're saleing so we can get a feel for how they really sound. Players like Pete, Rob, and Rabea can stretch a string over a random plank of wood and make it sound good. 😀
Do you know what effect he uses there to get that nice tone with that hall / echo that sounds like soft choir voices in the background? It‘s crazy good
i just got one of these last week. First thing i did was put MIM tele HH electronics in it and slapped a 2016 Duo Sonic neck on it. Also put some Fender locking tuners on it. Thing shreds now. Also mine is Surf Green for extra bonus points :D
I just set a squire tele up recently for someone, I tweaked the truss ros, stoned frets and a bit of nut adjust, nothing much and I can't believe how good it is for the money, it was a purple one bought at andertons
The intro is like a super slowed down version of Marilyn Mansons “Dope Hat” song. These are sweet little guitars, after the Intonation issues I had with my old duo sonic, I don’t think I’d buy another short scale. They are fun but a liability on stage.
No shortage at all of things in 2020 to complain about or be upset about in the world. But guitar players got zero to whine about. Man, it wasn't that long ago that even guitars costing twice as much as these were complete and utter trash. Look how far we've come...
@@rolux4853 So it's okay that Trogly spent money on new retail guitars and got trash? Oh, and Epi got their Andertons video of their latest stuff 2 days ago. I wonder how much they paid for that?
Joe Bryant you really should look into the way companies do marketing these days and then reconsider your answer. You’d be surprised how much of the RUclips „reviews“ are paid for advertisings.
Joe Bryant also why would epi purposely send troggly 12 or so models with bad QC lol. Regardless or any marketing deal period that’s just stupid because a lot of people value his opinion on guitars, especially stuff from the Gibson lineup

Ive got one and gotta say I love it. Mine even had a thinner neck than modern C, which is why its my shredding machine :D someday Im going to change the pickups but now Im not brave enough to do it
Great little guitars. I picked up the red one
A set of fret-polishing cloths used during a string change would take about 20 mins to sort out the scratchiness.
Left handed models?
Opening solo, man....
Awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it... Thanks for watching! 🤘
Loved the Sabbath droned out intro!!
I like when 'normal players' like Lee demonstrates the guitars they're saleing so we can get a feel for how they really sound. Players like Pete, Rob, and Rabea can stretch a string over a random plank of wood and make it sound good. 😀
I got the Lake Placid Blue one,and i love it ! 💙
Me too. Just this week. Haven't even changed out the strings yet.I have a MIM strat that I love, but this is just WAY more fun!
Lee, so much emotion in your playing lately. Great stuff!
best jam you’s have done together 🤘
No outro jam? I could have happily listened to some more of that stuff, those guitars sound great
Got the surf green bullet, it’s amazing for the price.
8:19 oh yeah that is good stuff
Do you know what effect he uses there to get that nice tone with that hall / echo that sounds like soft choir voices in the background? It‘s crazy good
i just got one of these last week. First thing i did was put MIM tele HH electronics in it and slapped a 2016 Duo Sonic neck on it. Also put some Fender locking tuners on it. Thing shreds now. Also mine is Surf Green for extra bonus points :D
@Mark Seymour Indeed it is, though it is the same scale and same pickup config. I had the parts lying around from other projects.
I just set a squire tele up recently for someone, I tweaked the truss ros, stoned frets and a bit of nut adjust, nothing much and I can't believe how good it is for the money, it was a purple one bought at andertons
that intro! Oh Man! You guys are just getting better
Underwear channel "Undertons"
greatest idea ever.
Loved your playing Danish Pete!
I wish these colors were available in the United States. Very nice
You should start a band called the anderpants
The intro is like a super slowed down version of Marilyn Mansons “Dope Hat” song. These are sweet little guitars, after the Intonation issues I had with my old duo sonic, I don’t think I’d buy another short scale. They are fun but a liability on stage.
6:55 backed out of the captain riff 😂
No shortage at all of things in 2020 to complain about or be upset about in the world. But guitar players got zero to whine about. Man, it wasn't that long ago that even guitars costing twice as much as these were complete and utter trash. Look how far we've come...
They still can be. Check out Trogly's recent haul of the brand new, post-NAMM Epis. Car crash on QC.
Joe Bryant but maybe Epiphone didn’t want to pay Trogly the money to promote their stuff..
