There is also more competition. ASICS, New Balance, and specially Adidas are putting effort in designing new silhouettes and comfortable shoes. Nike is stuck in selling the same Jordans that they been selling since the 80s. In addition I have found that Nike’s material quality is inferior to most sneaker brands, and they normally get away with it as they have better designs and a nostalgia factor, however that is no longer going to cut it.

At the end if the day, we the consumers control the market. People say they hate resellers, but then they go and support them by buying a $500+ pair of shoes from them. Reselling will only die off if people stop supporting the resellers. Then we can go back to getting any shoe we want for retail, or even on sale.

Interesting vid. Inflation definitely has had an impact, but the economy isn’t that bad. US equities at all time highs. I agree that one of the main drivers is the flooding of the market by Nike, with the quality plummeting. Outside of Alphaflys and Vaporflys, their running shoes are trash. Their lifestyle shoes are really uncomfortable too, yet they produce so many. I’d never ever pay full price for any pair of Nikes now. There’s a reason why they have the most clearance outlets. Functional and comfortable sneaks are the way forward, and this is why Asics, Saucony and New Balance are increasing market share.

Hey, Im new to shoes I come from cards… I was just wondering why shoes are not graded and only “authenticated”, thank you 🙏🏼

    • @TranceCore3

Shoes are designed to be worn, not collected.
Even in tcgs, cards that are played are worth less than cards that never see play because they get no wear and tear.
When shoes sit and aren't worn they will still break down so grading them would be quite pointless.

What took this so long? Haven't bought anything Nike since 1988. It only took two (2) weeks to break down a pair of Nike running shoes, which made me quit Nike.

Honestly I left the sneaker game a few years ago. Cause they market was total 💩 But now I started buying sneakers that, I would’ve never thought I’d get for retail or under.

I forgot the last time I wore Nike’s, not even my running shoe rotation has one check in it. I stopped messing with Nikes because trying to buy a pair was impossible. Resell kinda ruined it for me and tbh I have aged out of it. Inflation is staying up, when it goes up it never comes down. Thats just the way it is.

It's the logical consequence , which is good. Just remember: Same happened to things like the PS5 or GPU's - same now with fashion and especially sneakers. This bubble of resellers finally goes into a good direction for a normal person, not a greedy reseller. And like you said: Everything that gets milked like a cow won't last forever. Good thing!
Reps/Fakes were also logical, as good batches (you can buy cheap, middle or look for the best possible quality) for a reasonable price of 100-160$ (+ shipping) were the better choice to so many consumers compared to putting their hard earned money to a greedy reseller. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
I'm super happy to get most the sneakers I want for retail or close to retail. Things like Travis' or SB's like the Futura will be an exception, but at the end of the day, NO Nike/Jordan sneaker is worth hundreds of dollars. Especially not when you like the sneaker to wear.

The quality of bike has plummeted. Also the way the resellers expect hundreds if not thousands more than retail
    Is just beyond a joke

You know why this Nike Market is crashing is because field night is interested in the game not the shoes anymore she's got him where he wanted to be now he is more involved in the game of football which makes more sense and makes more money

I’m in the uk so the trend is a bit different but I’ve seen when a decent colour way of air max 95’s come out they sell out fast then there all on Stock X I wouldn’t say I started off as a collector just used to buy air max on discount then got into Jordan & started looking at these RUclips clips. I’ve got to many shoes now so won’t be buying anymore for a while until Jordan brand re releases Jordan 11 gamma cap & gown or bred 11’a 🙏🏿🙏🏿

Unfortunately some of us older sneakerheads know what happens next, as the hype dies certain pairs get discontinued, I love that it's easy to cop pairs at retail but the longer that pairs sit on shelf the more likely it is that Nike discontinues them, Nike care about profits that's it no matter what theories are floating around
