I found a video of a reseller crying because he tried to back order a store. The store never printed a physical receipt of purchase or electronic receipt so he basically took the L. Paid +$4000 for a load of shoes and did not receive 10 pairs of shoes because of no receipt.
Probably because they want their customers who want the shoes to be able to buy them without the dirty resellers charging 5x the amount. I’m happy they are doing it

As a og at 54 I just collected the og colorways that MJ wore and I had as a kid. Was fortunate to hit on the sneakers app and get some from local retail stores for great prices. Great video 👍

There is also more competition. ASICS, New Balance, and specially Adidas are putting effort in designing new silhouettes and comfortable shoes. Nike is stuck in selling the same Jordans that they been selling since the 80s. In addition I have found that Nike’s material quality is inferior to most sneaker brands, and they normally get away with it as they have better designs and a nostalgia factor, however that is no longer going to cut it.
At the end if the day, we the consumers control the market. People say they hate resellers, but then they go and support them by buying a $500+ pair of shoes from them. Reselling will only die off if people stop supporting the resellers. Then we can go back to getting any shoe we want for retail, or even on sale.
As someone who has been heavily into shoes since 1987 I have seen these ebbs and flows a few times. What I do not like is people buying up all pairs, backdooring shoes, bits etc. that is what KILLS it for us real collectors who enjoy our shoes. We cannot get 1 pair to enjoy. I will not pay resell prices.
Well said Dave. It pusses me off that these RUclipsrs refuse to mention it out of fear of Travis Scott’s team not reaching out for the free backdoor later on. Like they did on the jordan 1 golf. There wasn’t a single raffle win in that shoe, but this pos & all his friends got backdoored pairs.

Interesting vid. Inflation definitely has had an impact, but the economy isn’t that bad. US equities at all time highs. I agree that one of the main drivers is the flooding of the market by Nike, with the quality plummeting. Outside of Alphaflys and Vaporflys, their running shoes are trash. Their lifestyle shoes are really uncomfortable too, yet they produce so many. I’d never ever pay full price for any pair of Nikes now. There’s a reason why they have the most clearance outlets. Functional and comfortable sneaks are the way forward, and this is why Asics, Saucony and New Balance are increasing market share.
Yeah he just casually says the economy is down. Most of the world is envious of us economy right now, jobs, salaries, stock market. Also salaries outpaced inflation so people better off on average.

Nike needs to fix the reseller problem. They can release collabs and increase retail prices. Instead of launching limited quantities all being bought by BOTs. If they release collabs in lots this is achievable. Otherwise im not buying shoes worth $1000

This big mistake was people thinking Nike was doing good during the Covid time just because they were releasing limited hype shoes but. if u go back to 2021 2022 Nike was already going downhill and they're stock was plummeting. Just people where too caught up thinking the Nike Market was amazing due to these hyped releases and resell market. When in reality they were struggling even then and on a downward spiral.
I love it, my Fila's cost me about $90 last year, I bought the wrong size and just dealt with it but then they dropped to about 60 total with taxes and shipping so now I was able to get my size and a new color and I'm very happy! 🥰
Personally I have a lot of hyped retail shoes. I ordered fakes for fun to see how bad they were and they were so good that I took it to stores and 1/2 told me they were real. The only give away was the box. Not even the shoes. Since then I did realize 2k for a shoe is stupid when imma wear it, beat it up, and with 1:1 I can always get a fresh pair for 150…

I've been a sneaker head for 20+ years and I was kind of annoyed with random person coming just cause its cool and can scalp just cause other person who just got in to be cool will pay then a year later bord stops buying but now I am happy to see more pairs in stores much easier acessability like it was back in the days(still had to know which location had it in stock) But now where I see the sneaker market going in the nect year or 2 is vintage sneakers pre 2015 pre hype a lot of sneaker heads that stayed are OG heads and will start trading in the open market with vintage pairs and you will see a sudden increase in vintage pairs and aome of the big time resell shops will have more vintage pairs then ever but also this imo will not last long mybe 2-3 years tops before collectors get priced out and Nike Adidas Rebok and others over saturating the market with retro rereleases

Shoes are designed to be worn, not collected. Even in tcgs, cards that are played are worth less than cards that never see play because they get no wear and tear. When shoes sit and aren't worn they will still break down so grading them would be quite pointless.
What took this so long? Haven't bought anything Nike since 1988. It only took two (2) weeks to break down a pair of Nike running shoes, which made me quit Nike.

I forgot the last time I wore Nike’s, not even my running shoe rotation has one check in it. I stopped messing with Nikes because trying to buy a pair was impossible. Resell kinda ruined it for me and tbh I have aged out of it. Inflation is staying up, when it goes up it never comes down. Thats just the way it is.
It's the logical consequence , which is good. Just remember: Same happened to things like the PS5 or GPU's - same now with fashion and especially sneakers. This bubble of resellers finally goes into a good direction for a normal person, not a greedy reseller. And like you said: Everything that gets milked like a cow won't last forever. Good thing! Reps/Fakes were also logical, as good batches (you can buy cheap, middle or look for the best possible quality) for a reasonable price of 100-160$ (+ shipping) were the better choice to so many consumers compared to putting their hard earned money to a greedy reseller. Don't hate the player, hate the game. I'm super happy to get most the sneakers I want for retail or close to retail. Things like Travis' or SB's like the Futura will be an exception, but at the end of the day, NO Nike/Jordan sneaker is worth hundreds of dollars. Especially not when you like the sneaker to wear.

I’m in the uk so the trend is a bit different but I’ve seen when a decent colour way of air max 95’s come out they sell out fast then there all on Stock X I wouldn’t say I started off as a collector just used to buy air max on discount then got into Jordan & started looking at these RUclips clips. I’ve got to many shoes now so won’t be buying anymore for a while until Jordan brand re releases Jordan 11 gamma cap & gown or bred 11’a 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Unfortunately some of us older sneakerheads know what happens next, as the hype dies certain pairs get discontinued, I love that it's easy to cop pairs at retail but the longer that pairs sit on shelf the more likely it is that Nike discontinues them, Nike care about profits that's it no matter what theories are floating around

Honestly I left the sneaker game a few years ago. Cause they market was total 💩 But now I started buying sneakers that, I would’ve never thought I’d get for retail or under.
I forgot the last time I wore Nike’s, not even my running shoe rotation has one check in it. I stopped messing with Nikes because trying to buy a pair was impossible. Resell kinda ruined it for me and tbh I have aged out of it. Inflation is staying up, when it goes up it never comes down. Thats just the way it is.
It's the logical consequence , which is good. Just remember: Same happened to things like the PS5 or GPU's - same now with fashion and especially sneakers. This bubble of resellers finally goes into a good direction for a normal person, not a greedy reseller. And like you said: Everything that gets milked like a cow won't last forever. Good thing!
Reps/Fakes were also logical, as good batches (you can buy cheap, middle or look for the best possible quality) for a reasonable price of 100-160$ (+ shipping) were the better choice to so many consumers compared to putting their hard earned money to a greedy reseller. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
I'm super happy to get most the sneakers I want for retail or close to retail. Things like Travis' or SB's like the Futura will be an exception, but at the end of the day, NO Nike/Jordan sneaker is worth hundreds of dollars. Especially not when you like the sneaker to wear.

I’m in the uk so the trend is a bit different but I’ve seen when a decent colour way of air max 95’s come out they sell out fast then there all on Stock X I wouldn’t say I started off as a collector just used to buy air max on discount then got into Jordan & started looking at these RUclips clips. I’ve got to many shoes now so won’t be buying anymore for a while until Jordan brand re releases Jordan 11 gamma cap & gown or bred 11’a 🙏🏿🙏🏿

Unfortunately some of us older sneakerheads know what happens next, as the hype dies certain pairs get discontinued, I love that it's easy to cop pairs at retail but the longer that pairs sit on shelf the more likely it is that Nike discontinues them, Nike care about profits that's it no matter what theories are floating around
resellers is the main reason people lose interest when u charge 500$ for a sneaker that cost 185$....i have teenage kids and they say give them the $ and buy them crocs..😂😂😂 sneaker game is over
