This video made it so easy to replace my turbo. Thank you naptowntuner! Got quoted $4,000 + for a new turbo replacement here in Canada. Found used oem for $350 and replaced it myself, thank you sir!
@@igorsirbu1221 Good call out Igor. I personally would love a VW/Audi 2.0T swap chart that shows which parts on which cars would be compatible with others (e.g. many of the FSI swap easily with the TSI, and which cars have those, vs. which parts of the TFSI would swap and which cars have those, etc., (etc. ad infinitum...)
NaptownTuner, thank you! There's no way I'm paying thousands of dollars to fix a problem Audi WANTS you to have. Just ordered the $60 replacement flapper and I'll be doing it this weekend!
I'm taking the courage to remove the turbo of my 2012 TT... The turbo is tucked behind the engine and I'm not anxious for all the work its gonna take to get it out (and get the new one in).
Hey man i need help taking off the turbo coolant return line. Any tips to get it off? I dont want to have to pull the turbo out since i dont have a garage to work on it 😢
Thanks for the video, I did the turbo change today, it was not complicated after this video. I got oil pressure low first but after the engine was running the light got deleted.
Hi, i can feel there's no play in the rod from the actuator at all. But there's still a chance that the wastegate flapper is loose? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Thanks for the informative videos takes some skill to work one handed and filming ever looking in to getting a mount that mounts on a shoulder or chest harness.. just a suggestion. And thanks again for the info
Hi my friend, I have a problem with my audi a5 211ps (2014,130kkm). There is overboost for example on 4 gear from 3k rpm to 3.7k rpm (at this moment car goes very slow), and then is ok to end. On drive and sport mode is ok, only on manual mode when I want for example make logs, this problem is appear. I have new n75, DV, air filter, maf, i cleaned up the carbon. There is no fault code.
Awesome video. What state/city are you in, I’d like to bring my car in for this job if I’m close. Plus what’d be the labor for the turbo replacement on same car as in your video.
Recently upgraded my turbo to a k04 for a B7 A4 but have some kind of exhaust leak coming from the exhaust manifold. I think I didn’t seat the turbo correctly. I couldn’t get it to slide in very well. That manifold mechanism is very weird for mounting the turbo. Any advice on how to get it to seat correctly? Thanks for all the videos, your channel has helped me a lot.
The Audi TT is FWD which is a transverse engine layout which will be a different layout than the longitudinal one shown in this video. The 2008 TT would share the same collector as the MK5 GTI
Can you please do a video explaining the turbo breather tube and the purpose of that check valve,no one talks about that.i found them broke, intercooler filled oil, what the!! Why does the turbo even has that pipe!, ty naptown tuner
It will make your engine bay hotter, so if you have a cai without the box to separate the intake air from the engine bay you intake air temp might run hotter. But if your air box is stock or a fancy aftermarket one you shouldn’t have any problems.
I'm going through your videos from the beginning... your shop is really well set up from what I see in the background. Have you already done a shop tour video?
I’m pretty sure I did a quick one In one of my videos, I’ve just been throwing stuff out there and can’t keep track of it all but I’ll be trying harder with better quality in the future, thanks for the comments!
Awesome video , very useful information I got my turbo replaced myself thanks for you help! Can you make a video on how to replace the thermostat on this motor thanks!! Keep up they great work
No it’s so easy though, I believe in you. 16mm wrench on the tensioner and just remember how it goes around the 5 pulleys. I’ve never seen any of the factory serp belts “need’ replaced yet
I don't know if mine was factory but I had a shop do the oil pan. I did the waterpump. I told them the belt tensioner was making noise , to look at it when it was there for the new lower oil pan. They said ooooo its fine. It blew 100 miles later. No one knows my car better than me as far as noises. That is what I learned lol.
@@kellygrajek for sure we should all listen to to owner of the car more when they have a concern. I’ve never seen a bad tensioner pulley on one of these either though but also I got one from the east coast by the ocean and that one looked completely different with corrosion so different areas experience different things and the belts and tensioners don’t last forever
that is due to the weak piston rings with our cars , if u dont have any leaks try some additives with your next oil change along with a new pcv system if u havent done so was able to get my consumption to a quart every 900-1,000 miles which is okay i guess
Yeah, you need piston rings man. If it’s blowing smoke like a power stroke, you need new rings. Had that same problem. My consumption was down to a quart every 200 miles then my high pressure fuel pump failed
Yep same thing happened to my B8 A4. I have a 2012, it started drinking oil at around 45K. Had the rings, pistons and timing chain replaced at around 56k. Has not needed oil since rebuild. The car has 60k miles on at now.
Excellent video! Thanks for taking the time to post it! Do you happen to know the torque spec for the exhaust manifold to cylinder head? 22ft lbs sound about right? Thanks again!
I know oem are the best choice but was wondering if Vaico, Febi or Hamburg-Technic are good alternative brands. I am looking to replace. Varieble Valve Timing Control (N205) and Cam Shaft Bracket (Bridge).
Buy it from a reputable website not eBay or Amazon and you should be good with most aftermarket parts. I don’t have experience with those parts aftermarket, only ran oem
I'm glad someone is talking specifically about this engine awesome! ,
