Just hearing that XP startup and Vista startup makes me feel so nostalgic from back when I was a kid, being a full grown adult I still have my copies of XP, Vista and 7. I even collected all their versions over the years. It's a shame Microsoft no longer supports these works of art.

What classics, brother, in my opinion the most iconic is Windows XP. I don't think anyone can escape it, and 7 reminds me because it was the first one I bought with a Windows key.

Windows 95 boot sound is like the microsoft sound, Windows 7's boot sound is like an evolution of the microsoft sound, and Windows 11's boot sound is like an evolved version of Windows 7's boot sound. I compare these three sounds to each other.

sad story: my mom bought a windows 7 for work and when i was born in 2011 she gave it to me and she used to take pictures and videos of me when i was really young with her nokia and move them to the windows 7 so that laptop had all my life photos form 0 to like 10 but sadly in 2023 the hard disk of the laptop got corrupted so that means that my whole childhood will be gone if it doesn't get fixed 10 years of my life are just gonna get deleted we took it to a professional but he couldn't do anything then we took it to another professional now it's still there i lost all hope please pray for me

Did you know, Windows 3.1 wasn't the first Windows OS to have startup/shutdown sound? It was actually Windows 3.0, though you had to install "with Multimedia Extendions" version, so you can get that startup and shutdown sound.

I don't think Windows 8 - 10 do have their own default intro / outro.. I've been using them gradually (8 till 10) for 7 years and there's no intro nor outro sounds of it. You just make it up!

Between this and the evolution of Playstation(and other console startups) startup sounds, anyone with even a fraction of a soul/passion can pick up on the height of the developers efforts on their designated systems/consoles back then and now(back then, you couldn't afford to make the mistake of churning out *BLATANT* mediocre garbage as opposed to now, where a horde of fans will suck up regurgitated garbage and treat it like sweet ambrosia, that needs dozens of 'fixing' patches/updates/maintenance nonstop on day one launch). The PS1-PS3 startups, N64 and Gamecube, Xbox and 360, good ol' loud ass *SEGAAAA* as well as the classic, oldschool Capcom opening themes(for games like Megaman Legends, Breath of Fire and others that assured you, if you were from that day and age.., you were in for a good time). And beyond those, it gradually got more -- quiet. Muted. Lacking of that same effort, drive, passion. More 'corporate' sounding openings/startups or just outright silence, silent logo/developer screens or just a repeat of two or three of the same notes in a prolonged 'melody'. Maybe it's rose-tinted glasses. Maybe it's the wear and tear of age, leaving me jaded to the modern era of media and, from there, modern consoles/pcs/windows editions. My only hope is that the more recent generations stumble upon emulators/roms and are able to enjoy the 'golden' era of games, to have something to reliably fall back on when/if Triple A's truly shit the bed and really turn everything into an ACTUAL micro-transaction hell, where it's the only way to get anywhere in games if you shell out cash, rather than being rewarded for exploration, curiosity and an eagerness to explore the world of the game one's currently exploring. TL;DR: Funny sounds tug at 'get off my lawn you damn kids' geriatric's heartstrings.
Nope. Windows 8 and 8.1 use the windows 7 startup sound. You're thinking of the logon sound. You need to enable it in the sound properties dialogue in the control panel.
