Listening to Hurt performed by Johnny Cash, you can feel his indescribable pain and sorrow. Every note, every word is infused with a sense of loss, regret, and farewell. There’s no pretense here, just a pure, raw soul telling of a pain that has accumulated over the years. This cover is not just a song; it’s a cry from the heart that resonates in the heart of everyone. “Everyone I know goes away in the end” for an awkward autistic in her late 20s it’s actually a double edged sword. Whether you are talking about friendships ending, people moving away, getting dumped or elder family members starting to die off, it means two things to someone young.
When my grandparents talk about their best friends that they hadn’t heard from in 30+ years (My grandparents moved away from the city due to a job change) who could be dead for all they know. I think of this line. The older you get the lonelier life can become.
To me Johnny’s version and the way he delivered that line is like him telling me “Spend as much time with your loved ones as you can. They don’t last forever.”

@@SSNebula this was never a problem before and I hate when people say "source" as if what someone is saying isn't true. If you know you know, sadly that's how it is, or you could do some simple research but even then this generation somehow can't even do that right. I remember when this song was a lot newer and everyone understood the message and felt it, but now somehow the next generation completely forgets everything and needs scientific proof of a song, most of this generation can't even dissect music and are trying to question others as if something isn't right. Everything you need to know is right in front of you if you slow down and look at what's going on.

Whenever I need to feel sad (and yes, sometimes you need to, it's a healthy emotion) I listen to this song. Strangely, it also makes me feel better to know that someone else looked back over their life and acknowledged the roads both taken and not taken and the regret that causes.

He provided for my family, he was a great cook, he was great with numbers, along with his character to help people that really stood out. His last words to me were "Glory to God" and "I love you buddy" from Saturday before he passed away. The music video is one of the cases where happenstance works out perfectly. They had a plan to shoot at the Johnny Cash museum, and that was about it. The state it was in was what inspired the direction of the video, and little things, like the moment when June is on the stairs looking down at Johnny, that wasn't planned either, but all works perfect. Short of it, it has that raw and real feeling because it wasn't scripted or planned beforehand.
