The younger farmer will be working for ten years for the taxman and their bank… what for? That’s no life and most will choose to sell up and the buyers will most likely be finance brokers who will not grow food and have no workers, but will use the land to offset airport and cement works carbon emissions, something the working food producing farmer is not allowed to do.

Biggest harm was self inflicted by voting for Brexit. But farmers won’t say a word, that they have been wrong, that they struggle now. So anything that, even silly inheritance tax on millionaires will trigger outrage. But it has little to do with that, and everything how hard it is now. No unicorns, no sunlit uplands. But sheesh quiet.

When did the farmers care about people in industry being made redundant, people on zero hours contracts and working in the care sector on low pay. They expect us to make up for the tax shortfall when they voted for Brexit.

Why should farmers be protected from the rules everyone else has to live by. People have starved to dwsth in rhis country, so obviously the system isn't working for them.
