Wow. I've never seen this before. Soaking wood in the food you want to eat/drink to infuse the flavor. This reminds me of wine brewing where they use different types of wood barrels to contain the fermenting wine. This is very creative and quite genius. You've opened my eyes to a whole different type of food preparation I would have know otherwise. Thanks
It's not just wine, it's any aged liquor, but especially Scotch Whisky, which is typically aged in pre-used barrels, mostly from bourbon, but sometimes in wine barrels or those previously used for sherry, port, brandy, rum, Madeira, _etc._ The raw whisky from the still is clear, "white lightning", what comes out of the barrels may be anything from straw-coloured to very dark brown, and the colour is _entirely_ from the flavours and colours that leech out of the barrel.

If you don't have handmade oak bowl and utensils, wood crafting machines, oak tree logs, wild acorns, icecream machine and the skills of both a pastry chef and wood carving artist....store bought is fine.
I can totally understand how the flavours you normally get out of oak would be WONDERFUL for an ice cream, plus the acorns for that extra kick of nutty deliciousness
honestly sounds so good. oak is responsible for a lot of the flavor complexity in many beloved liquors and wines, and it truly does have a deep vanilla-esque note to it!
Its possible to make wine from oak leaves. (Walnut, beech, lime, birch or hawthorne leaves can be used) 4.5L freshly picked oak tree leaves 250 grams sultanas or raisins 1KGish sugar 1.090SG 4 oranges - juice 2 lemons - juice and zest 4.5L water Yeast 1 Boil leaves in water and leave for 24 hours (no longer) then seive into primary. 2 Chop then add raisins and grated lemon peal while still hot, then lemon and orange juice when cooler 3 Pitch yeast and nutrient when at room temperature 4 Ferment and rack at one month then two months later and 3 months later. 5 Bottle after bulk aging for as long as you can. Needs at least one year to mature from pitching yeast

They make acorn jelly in Korea, it’s a lot like tofu, it’s a combination of acorn flour and a little rice flour, some also add agar I think. It’s got a nutty flavor and it can fry up like tofu. I cooked it one time, made slices, dragged them in flour, fried, then served with soy sauce and chili ketchup, it was great. It’s called dotorimuk.
My dad carves wood, and for the longest time he just had a huge bowl of wooden spoons he carved in his living room. He made me one with a wooden butterfly sitting on the handle, he had one that turned into a snake at the end, and multiple he made with wood and epoxy spiral handles. I saw you carving a spoon and got massive nostalgia
