Thanks, it was very helpful compared to some of the long length videos out there, I'm still not sure about knotting the strings at the tuners, is it possible to just wind them on so they don't slip?
Something worth paying attention to-done correctly here, but not highlighted-is the direction to wind the string at the peghead. Look at the image around 2:40. You'll see that the outer strings (low and hi E) are wound toward the outside of the knot hole, while the other strings are wound inward, toward the center of the peghead. This is done to make the strings travel as straight as possible through the nut. -Tom
Thank you for the best video I've seen on how to restring a classical guitar. I really liked the idea of showing the process with a bigger piece of wood, it becomes instantly clear what goes where.
Just bought a new Cordoba at an auction of some store that closed. Hadn’t even strummed it yet and one of the strings just popped. It’s my first classical guitar so had to come to YT for help. This was helpful. Thanks.
Been turning away nylon restring jobs because I was scared and it looked complicated but it's actually alot easier than I thought. Definitely more confident to do this now
Great video, thank you very much, I now learned and managed to change strings on my guitar for the first time! 😀 (Only took me about 1-3 hours but hey) My beginners tip would be to MAKE SURE YOU ARE ABLE TO GET IT IN TUNE AND THAT THE KNOT HOLDS BEFORE YOU CUT OFF THE EXCESS STRINGS so you don't wobble for hours trying to make knots with very little excess string left if the knot doesn't hold (the nylon strings can be very slippery with the knots) :) :) :) Hope this saves someone some frustration xD
As commented by others, the large block and rope is SO HELPFUL! I'm looking at a nylon string classical guitar for Christmas, and I was really worried about putting new strings on, since I've only ever owned electric guitars. Thanks for your demo!
i million thank you's for this. I have been stringing steel string acoustics for 30 years, but this was my first nyon string change. Your video was SO much help, especially using the big wood block as a visual aid. All the other videos I tried watching... I felt i needed a jewel's loop to see what was being done. thank you thank you thank you!
Thank you for the simple, short, to the point clip. People stress SO much over the atom splitting algebranometry involved, and the knowledge and skill it takes to do this extremely complicated task. When it's actually easier than tying your shoe.
Best tutorial ever for this topic! The other videos were insanely confusing with their hands covering the process of the tying if the string or they didnt explain clearly. The tie block was what helped me alot.
I use Ball End Nylon Strings which make restringing the Guitar a Snap and it also lets the strings come out of the bridge at a steeper angle over the saddle. They do make Classical Guitar bridge beads which could allow you to convert Tie End Nylon Strings into Ball End Nylon Strings
Nice choice of song. Ive strung guitars like this before but needed a refresher. I really found this useful and love how you did the enlarged version too! Thanks
This is really a helpful and illustrative and easy-to-following guide! It helped me change my 5th string in just 10 Mins, and it was my first time changing a string of a classical guitar. It turned out to be very successful! Thumbs up and thanks a lot!
Wow, I’ve been trying for 3 hours with these new nylon strings. Your tutorial is the only one that I could truly see because of the large scale demonstration. Thank you so much for posting!!!
Thank you for a brilliant demonstration. I'm about to attempt changing the strings on my 1/2 size guitar and now I feel reasonably confident that I won't screw it all up! Thanks!
Thank you very much, not just for the lesson but for the way you presented it. I specifically just wanted to know how to correctly tie the knots but Im having problems with my computer speakers which didn't matter in the end because the visual presentation was so clear and concise.
This is by far the most precise and effective video for this purpose. 👍 I've watched other videos but find them too lengthy, they explain about how to choose and buy strings yadda yadda.. this video briefly explained exactly what I needed 🙂
This video is great! Just remember to stretch ur strings before you put them on, or they can snap on you. Tuning them too quickly can also make them break.
Hi Mathias, If the ball is only on one end, it should be exactly the same as the video (feeding the non-ball end through the tieblock first), except you can use the ball-end as an “anchor” after tying it off. If there happens to be a ball at both ends (this is rather unlikely), you can just cut one of them off. Hope this helps! -Cordoba Guitars
Even after drinking beer I can do this thanks to you, so thorough with the string example. You Sir are a very helpful and we ow3 you much gratitude. Very well done Mate.Thank you very , very much my friend.
Note: I watched a super old youtube video where the user demonstrated on a block of wood (similar to that). Ever since that day I've been able to change my nylon strings with minimal issues. I think for the treble strings the multiple loops cannot be stated enough. I usually do roughly three passovers, depending on the string tension and what not. I'm a little OCDish and I like all the string ends to look the same.
Hi Ajanti514, You'll tie a knot at the very end of the string, so it almost looks like you’re creating a “ball end”. Then you’ll need to wrap it so that the knot catches and keeps the string from slipping through. If all else fails, a string company called La Bella makes nylon ball-end strings called the Folk Singer. I hope that helps! -CG
Thanks, brutha! 20++ years of playing, tuning and re-stringing and then I pick up a 1930's hand made classical and, BAM, I'm a noob all over again. You more than helped very simply and with extra eye candy. Do you have a sister?? Lol
Good tip is to *leavy* the tip strings (easy to position not to vibrate), as this allows you to easily re-string the same string if it suddenly breaks from too high temperature swings/usage/etc. :) Quite handy "trick", if it suddenly breaks and you don't have spare strings lying about, or if your strings where really expensive, or the cost of buying new strings when you don't *have* to isn't quite in your budget.
short but informative. all the video guide should be like this. I'm inpatient at all to watch a 10-min video just to know how to restring my guitar. well done.
The "Enlarged Illustration" is very helpful. Why did you use a white background, however? The "string" is also white and gets totally washed out in front of the white background. Why not use a light pastel color for the background instead? A little colour difference would make the "string" so much easier to see. You used used this same "white on white" demo method on your Uke video as well. Other than that, this video was very useful.
at 1:21 you brought the end of the string in from right to left. On my guitar I can tell they brought it in from left to right. Does that matter? They also secured the tail end of the string with the next string by bring the tail end to the right. Again, does that matter? Aside from that, by staring at it I can tell they tied it the same way you did. Again, can it be done either way?
That does not matter, left to right or right to left. And that fancy tucking the end under other string ends at the tie block doesn't matter either. That's if people don't have cutters or don't want to cut them.
Hahahaha.. When u took that giant bridge its really really funny... Smart zoom in way mate... Thanks a lot.. This the best changing nylon strings ever lol
I love Cordoba. But they left out a lot in regards to which side of the headstock the string should be wound with the tuning peg. Otherwise, I dig the block and rope example.
the large scale demonstration really helps
Anal Devastator Best part of the vid hand down!
Thanks, it was very helpful compared to some of the long length videos out there, I'm still not sure about knotting the strings at the tuners, is it possible to just wind them on so they don't slip?
Paint board, change background to dk gray.bigger rope, but Im..I'm... a bitch.
@@namron1106 I was gonna say the same thing
Hi, I'm the incredible shrinking man, welcome to my world. Sheesh

Great tip, these details make a big difference.
Thank you for the best video I've seen on how to restring a classical guitar. I really liked the idea of showing the process with a bigger piece of wood, it becomes instantly clear what goes where.
Indeed- very easy to learn from your video. Thanks so much!
Well its been 5 days, but I've finished my 3rd string :D!!
:o
Lmao
I'm afraid to start, lol!
Hmmm...Its been 5 years.
Are you finished? 🧐
Bet those strings are still working :p
This song made me want to get into playing classical guitar more, it was cool hearing it in the intro 😊 Jose Gonzalez is a wonderful musician

This is the clearest, most easy-to-follow tutorial I've seen. This is a great video to share with my students!
Would agree, also one of the shortest / quickest videos. Straight to the point.
An instructional video that actually instructs without shouting, jumping around, making a fool of themselves. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

WOW. The demonstration with a block is fantastic.
Just thank you so much for giving an oversized example that I could actually follow wonderfully done❤
The very best tutorial, imho. I have seen 6 or 7 and this is by far the best for my education. Then again, I just learned how to tie my shoes.
Nice choice of song. Ive strung guitars like this before but needed a refresher. I really found this useful and love how you did the enlarged version too! Thanks

I have to add a huge thanks - guys set my guitar up and they didn’t tie the top 3. Thank you, the guitar is perfect
thanks so much you helped me a lot one string took about 2 minutes (with tuning) you are the king bro keep going
That's about as straightforward and illustrative as one can get.Thank you!
Wow, I’ve been trying for 3 hours with these new nylon strings. Your tutorial is the only one that I could truly see because of the large scale demonstration. Thank you so much for posting!!!
actually changed my 1st string ever in 5 mins...thank you for making it so easy!!!:)))

best tutorial on how to change the classical guitar strings ever created!! million thanks

Thank you for the big knot demonstration... all I need now is a bigger guitar.
Lol 😄
And bigger fingers?
Short, simple, easy to see and accurate! Thank you!
I am impressed by the example you put together. It is hard to see the details with hands n other strings in the same small areas so Ty!
This video is great! Just remember to stretch ur strings before you put them on, or they can snap on you. Tuning them too quickly can also make them break.
Brilliant. Why no one else has thought of this I don't know. Many thanks for the clearest instructional video I've seen.

You Tube at its finest. Thanks, especially for the large block demonstration.
I use the same knots, but I start doing double knots on the d string, and on the high b and e strings I do even triple knots.
Even after drinking beer I can do this thanks to you, so thorough with the string example. You Sir are a very helpful and we ow3 you much gratitude. Very well done Mate.Thank you very , very much my friend.
Best demo for doing this by far.
Thank you for this! I had completely forgotten how to do this properly. Thanks for being quick and also thorough! 💚
This was super easy for a complete beginner like me. Didn't find any toutorials more simple
what a brilliant way to demonstrate this! thank you.
Very, very helpful, thanks. For some odd reason i was doing a much difficult version of this. Didn't know it could be so easy.
So easy! It put me off owning a classical for years not understanding how to string one. Excellent tutorial 👌
Finally, a very clear demonstration. Thank you.
Thank you..very good..and at 3 minutes long - perfect ..

This destroys all other tutorials. Thank you!

Do I cut the left over string on the bottom of the bridge?
Clear presentation + succinct = outstanding
Thanks :) I haven't been playing for long and recently broke a string, this video was a massive help and now I can play again :D
there is reason for some things to never change. This is from Nov.2010 thank you for posting this!
Done! I started to string my guitar back on November 19, 2010. Ended up on December 10, 2017. I never thought how easy this will be!
one string just took me like 40 minutes XD
Bloody Hell only 40 mins! The B string took me all afternoon and I must admit I kept eyeing up the superglue
I was like- "I didn't think I had heartbeats- jose gonzalez playing in another tab. What is happening!?"
The best explanation that exists on internet, thank you!
Thanks so much for sharing this tutorial. One of the best tutorial on RUclips -- if not the best.
Very simple, easy to understand, and useful demonstration. Thank u for sharing!
Well done! Especially like the "enlarged illustration" demonstration! Thank you for a great video.
Always had trouble poking the string through the tie block and over the bridge. Using a biro cap is inspired. Thanks.
Very helpful and concise. The large block and rope demonstration was extremely helpful; excellent idea.
Thanks! Will be attempting my first tomorrow and this really helps especially with the large block.
This is the best tutorial on RUclips

no matter how often i change my strings, i always seem to come back to this video *derpface*
the song is called "heartbeats"
Thank you!
This is the only classical guitar stringing video that's worth a shit.
Thanks!
No nonsense, very clear demonstration.
Thank you, worked flawlessly. Now I can actually get my guitar in tune again :D
Thank you. Just bought my first classical guitar and was wondering how this was done. Very helpful!
I've seen your DR650 vids. Small world, that's funny.
Very helpful!!!! Thanks for the video. For sure it will helps a lot of people!! ^^
short but informative. all the video guide should be like this. I'm inpatient at all to watch a 10-min video just to know how to restring my guitar. well done.
Fantastic demonstration and teaching
Very useful, thank you!
I’m kinda bad with knots, 30 years of changing guitar strings and I still need instructions. So far best video yet.
After 9 years it still helps
at 1:21 you brought the end of the string in from right to left. On my guitar I can tell they brought it in from left to right. Does that matter? They also secured the tail end of the string with the next string by bring the tail end to the right. Again, does that matter? That does not matter, left to right or right to left. And that fancy tucking the end under other string ends at the tie block doesn't matter either. That's if people don't have cutters or don't want to cut them.
It's whatever direction your hands and fingers find easier to do. I hope this helps.
鋼線 匝一次
尼龍線滑 匝2次
Check 2:21 carefully
Thanks. This is the one I go back a couple times a year (if I'm not using the ball ends)
fantastic fantastic fantastic song choice. Now I will watch this one instead of the others
Thank you very much ! It's the best way to show how to change a string on a guitar !
Fantastic demonstration, many thanks!
Hahahaha.. When u took that giant bridge its really really funny... Smart zoom in way mate... Thanks a lot.. This the best changing nylon strings ever lol
Thank you for such clear, concise instructions.
Thank you for posting this. It's really helpful.
Very good idea to show an "enlarged view" - the rope probably should be a different color than the table, though.
Excellente démonstration, c’est super pédagogique et originale, bravo X 1000.
Thanks dude , your tutorial really helpfully
Heatbeats by Jose Gonzalez. Excellent video btw!
Thank you for this, never did a nylon one before this
Really smoothe instructional , thank you for that!
Why you put the crazy tension strings on the C5 I have to tune it every play
You chose the right music for the video
should treble string technique be for G, B and E string?
Thanks so much for This. Hopefully this is the start of something great. Wish me luck!
I love Cordoba. But they left out a lot in regards to which side of the headstock the string should be wound with the tuning peg. Otherwise, I dig the block and rope example.
Great video! You make it super easy to do. 👍
