So casually knocking off "y'know pinch [harmonics]". Just like w/e, man. All in a days' work - when you're an f'n genius. At least she had to look down.
My goodness I adore her playing aesthetic and approach! We can learn from the young generation when they are nerdy (in the best way) like her. Power to bass players!
Plenty of bassists use lots of effects. Nearly all metal bassists will have a selection of overdrive's, fuzz's, compression and EQ maybe something like a POG and a wah as well.
She have a way of seeing songs that I really find myself in. She is clearly my favorite bass player since last year, so much to learn from her, so glad that she gets the respect she legitimatly deserves !!
1000% agree. Rick is awesome and it takes a very self aware person to just listen. I don't think he has anything to prove so he can just listen and it's great.
I love these insights into gear that artists use and what they use them for. Although I'm not a bassist, it's still an interesting bit of insight. The slap bass with the distortion on was bang on for me. 👌🏼

I used to use small hands as an excuse for not being able to play certain things. I am ashamed for my perceived limitations. Also Django with his digital short comings...I guess I never tried hard enough reaching those 9ths..She's a life lesson, tiny hands are no obstacle..
One thing bassist do, and Mohini exemplifies this, is they adjust the tone knobs constantly within a set or within a single piece. Guitarists just don't do that, or at least not like they used to. But it's something I recommend doing before even thinking about changing pickups or getting new amps and other gear. And built-in preamps in guitar and bass give you so much more headroom even with passive pickups.
@@firefibre26 she has spent a lot of her formative years interacting with western players... next you will say her bass playing is fake as it sounds western🤣
I heard podcast from a couple of years ago the other day, now a clip of her trio just popped up, and then this - I'm not so into the pedals, but she's insanely good!
Mohini and Charles are just on another level. I don't even consider them bass players. They're natural soloists. Someone else I really like is the Japanese bassist Juna Serita. She has a killer double thumb technique, and she's also very musical when playing fingerstyle. Not crazy fast or tapping. But she really supports the song.
I think I had the same expression on my face as rick watching this..like I didn't know if I was laughing at the absurd sounds or the absurdity of her skill level 😂

She's so likable and a great talent.. cool explanation of pedals too!
The stuff she plays when using the Hall of Fame pedal is just beautiful.
it's all in the braid string dampener... 😉
True..😮
I loved how she just randomly played something that spoke deeply to my soul and then ”You know, bla bla bla”
in case you are wondering, that is Duke Ellington's "Take the 'A' train"

So cool that Rick never forgets us bass players 😍 Mohini is badass and unique in her style 👍🏻

Fun to watch again. Her selection and the way she stacks the effects is inspiring. Very cool!
As simple as this is, I would have given it double thumbs up if it was offered. I appreciate her understanding of her sound and its application.
Most people would not use these sounds, but she knows how to get the most out of everything. Amazing.
@miketurner1768 You realize you aren’t an authority on what anyone else would do, right? Sit down.🤷♂️🤦♂️🤡🙄
@miketurner1768 Agreed! I wouldn't use her settings in a million years but they work great for her. It just goes to show how tone is in the hands.

@@spanqueluv9er🦧
@@stevec6427 no, metal bassists using fuzz and wah is not a common thing
I already knew she was a great bass player but it's good to know that she's also very down to earth and light hearted with a great sense of fun.
“None of these pedals are doing anything to my sound (tone)” is probably the most badass thing to say at the beginning of an interview about gear. ❤❤❤
Which is probably the key to sounding good 👍
investing on a 7k usd bass and then having bass effect stomp on the tone of it would be criminal haha
she slays the bass in a unique way. just gained a new fan. Rick as always great content!
She seems super chill and down to earth

More bass players, please. This was amazing.
Rick's jaw was dropping and never came back up.
Mohini truly is, one of the GoAT !
There is alot of really good bass players but damn her virtuosity and sound is almost hard to belive !!
truly hadn't appreciated just how good a player Mohini is until this video
4:50. Love this sound.
God bless this man for just letting her play

Yes 100% agree as in the early videos of her I thought she is good base player but she is not as now she is more into show off.
Her fast playing is so clean, it sounds like a MIDI file LOL!
She is better than Sting and Paul, the guy from that British band.
It's like beatto taking a pie in the face
When the band is wondering if the bass player is happy.
Bass soloing is my favorite
@@SoloPlaticando-ts4xx different level, they aren't virtuosos
Damn she’s wicked and gets some very fun tones out of her pedals.
She is amazing and such a lovely person too! I love how Rick just sat back and let her rip. What a great video!

Some do. I do. Volume and tone knobs on guitar are essential for me to adjust on a part by part basis, in combination with pedals and the amp.
Absolutely amazing!She is divine!!
She is quite a young lady! Great interview, Rick!
Another fantastic interview my friend!!! I’ve learned a lot from you. Thanks!!
She played with my nephew on Yes cruise to the edge. With Marco Minniman.
Que maravilla de entrevista !!!
Mohini es un talento excepcional.

She's got nice stuff. Great bass player. I've seen her with Gutrie Govan and it's amazing how good musician she is. Really awsome!!! Congrats Mohiny

Very impressive, I do have the Boss Octaver OC-2, need to buy the rest of them..😎

That Sub ‘n’ Up sounded like something from Yes. I was hearing Long Distance Runaround.
Really love that synth sound ❤️

Knew her from Dewa Budjana's Mahandini Album, beautiful bass work
She uses those pedals amazingly
Wao shes fire... Very inspiring.
Thats cool. I also have a pedal board for my bass. Love different sounds.
I'm pretty sure somebody has mentioned it by now, but the Future Impact basically is a "modernized clone" of the Akai Deep Impact synth pedal.
Those sounds are crazy! I knew she was a monster on bass, but her pedal board is freaky!
