SAME FOR ME! I haven't seen any of his movies, but love Ariana Grande. I clicked for her and stayed for him. I was completely captivated by his interview - the ending was incredibly powerful for me because I am going through exactly what he was describing - mistakes, stops and starts, not being enough, not being accepted or included... He is so inspiring! I say leave the title as is so that more people can hear his story and his message.
Honestly his films always feel so rich in color and in feeling. To quote Harry styles “it feels like a movie.” One of the few directors who makes me feel like a kid again.
John Chu and his family are treasures. His father runs Chef Chu’s Chinese restaurant in Sunnyvale, CA and my family and I have been going there since I was a kid. His brother, Larry, is incredibly kind. I was so excited when John was getting praised for Crazy Rich Asians and I’m even more excited for Wicked. John and his family are fantastic people ❤

That Constance could only get through a few takes of "You'll never be enough" hits so much harder knowing more about what she was going through at the time.
I looked it up since OP never clarified. It’s sounds like she was going through a mental health crisis and recent suicide attempt. Most likely due to being sexually harassed when she was in Fresh Off the Boat. I now get why that scene was probably extra hard hitting for her.

He won me over with Crazy Rich Asians. There were 3 distinct scenes that pulled me in. One in particular, made me feel like I was in the scene. I was completely present and absorbed in the moment. I rewatched that movie multiple times, cuz I loved the story and wanted to relive how he transported me in. It was magical. I know he'll do the same with Wicked. I can't wait to see it!
Update: he did :3 again. That's why I'm here. Falling in love with this director's authenticity. Learning about him. He is now one of my favorite directors next to Tim Burton. I hope you'll love his craft on wicked as I did.

For those complaining about the title, the whole point is to title it something that will make people interested enough to click. I didn't realize he was the same director of Crazy Rich Asians. That is one of my favorite modern movies. I have actually watched it several times which is rare for me to rewatch movies I first saw as an adult. It's really good storytelling. I did not go into Wicked with many expectations but I loved it. As I walked out of the theater I wanted to go right back in and watch it again.
what an inspiring person. Met him many moons ago in HK at a bar, we have some common friends. Probably had 2-3 exchanges, he was very humble. Obviously he wasnt that big of a director then but im so happy that he have that same humble aura that makes me remembered him from time to time.

I've been a huge fan of him and never knew it! Step Up & Crazy Rich Asians are 2 of my most favorite movies ever. I can watch them over and over again. I never knew he directed these movies. I was always too focused on the actors. But I'm a huge fan now!
