I think that General Motors used something like this to polish their plastic steering wheels pre-1970's From Wikipedia: Vapor polishing is a method of polishing plastics to reduce the surface roughness or improve clarity. Typically, a component is exposed to a chemical vapor causing the surface to flow thereby improving the surface finish. This method of polishing is frequently used to return clear materials to an optical quality finish after machining. Vapor polishing works well in the internal features of components. Feature size changes of the plastic component generally do not occur. Post stress relieving is usually required as vapor polishing sets up surface stresses that can cause crazing[citation needed]. Plastics that respond well to vapor polishing are polycarbonate, acrylic, polysulfone, PEI, and ABS. The technique is also being used to improve the surface of objects created with 3D printing techniques. As the printer deposits layer upon layer of material to build the object, the surface is often not entirely smooth. The smoothness of the surface can be greatly increased by vapor polishing.[1]
All I know is what I read on the wiki and don't recall where I read about the 1960's use case for plastic steering wheel finishing. Use brake fluid and job done. But don't get it on the paint work or it will lift.
Really
@@mduduzimanyatsi9311really. I did that to mine and now it's bare metal

If you pizz on them, and use a magic erasure they look like new.
I think you could use any process to get the yellow plastic off and then use the acetone at the end. I have a 3M light cleaning kit that I’ve used to about every three years with a product that goes over the top that doesn’t seem to last and I’m thinking next time I clean them off I’m gonna try the acetone at the end.
I do think your title is kind of Clickbait. I mean you had to remove the headlight? What the heck that’s not easy.
I spent much time with that 3m kit myself and, as far as I could see, no improvement.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Reklama, reklama, reklama 🤣🤣🤣🤣. A, woda w zupełności wystarczy 😮
The upside is that when you explode your headlight, the car isn't attached.
Can you also huff on the acetone?
AS SOON AS SAW THE RED I KNEW THIS WS A HACK
Try using a sander it'll be so much quicker
Selvap!

The whole world knows the headlamp lenses require us spray.
Way to much hassle. Use Mothers aluminum polish for a 5 minute fix 100% easy LOOKS GREAT Los Angeles
All you need to do is Wipe on Mothers aluminum polish with a cloth and wipe off almost right away with a terry cloth or micro fiber towel. You'll be surprised. Very fast. 😁
I think also that it was quite odd that you would polish the headlight and then applied the vapor acetone. 😆 Polishing is always something done last in the process but is not usually done when applying the vapor application. So that polishing you did was wack.

Will not last. Once the UV coating is gone, the plastic will fog. No matter how much you polish or sand or apply acetone......unless you replace the UV coating, the fogging will return.
After all the sanding, several light coats of Rustoleum UV resistant clear coat will last 2-3 years.
I agree. This is why after polishing I follow up with a clear 3M film of automotive quality. The shine lasts a very long time. Great idea with Acetone vapor. Clever.
Plexus, work well, just reapply 2-4 times a year.
Couple of hours all the haziness from the sanding will come back
if acetone wasn't a solvent, this would be correct. acetone is basically melting the plastic lens back to a clear protective coating though.
@@LygerTheCLaw can you just use a hot air gun insted of aceton to melt the plastic smooth.
Nice
How many millilitres are in one drop?
Don't leave a drinks can with acetone in it. Either re-label it or destroy it, you never know when a child might pick it up,
Essa acetona é aquecida com uma vela? Não vi a chama.
sim em baixo da lata de redbull
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST AFTER YOU DID IT THAT IS THE MAIN POINT????
Non of them last. Use Mothers aluminum polish easy as heck. Last three months depending on the weather

This method is used by Professionals.. Actone vapor plastic polishing... Just remember to apply UV coating cream
After the treatment...
@@bluesdawg8014this method will outlast your method... Actone vapor plastic polishing has been used in auto industry... and many headlight restore shops uses this method..... But make sure after the treatment.. You apply UV coating cream...or spray.. Which ever you prefer... You can buy the actone vapor Kit under $20... .
This was probably tiring, and took 30 minutes
I would rather sand with 2000 grit orbital sander. And use rubbing compound and a orbital buffer. Would take 5 minutes and less effort
Muito bom...👏🏽👏🏽

My headlights are discolored on the inside....they never show videos to solve that issue😂
Thats because you have to buy new ones.
I wasted hours of time and $550 replacing my headlights after all of these voodoo methods made my headlights incredibly worse.
Well isn't that your fault for so readily believing this rubbish
@billyboybliss. Lost me with the can. 🙄
•Wet sand 600g if really badly oxidized.
•wet sand 1000g if still decent.
•Compound with buffer or drill adapter.
•Apply Carnauba Wax for added durability.
•Repeat as needed every year
Lol.. This is not voodoo.. Lol
Professional use this method .. It's called actone vapor polishing..
Lol
You have to get the temp just enough for the actone vapors .. They sell the kit online for less than $20

Einfacher schon. Aber eben deutlich teurer... :-(
