When I asked them in 2023 where I could buy them, they told me on Amazon. However, unfortuntately, that was useless for me, as they don't ship to Europe on Amazon. Also, I couldn't find the finish of the first one either. Thanks a lot Eddie. No, that track has been recorded with a Squier Classic Vibe 50s Strat a couple of years ago. I'm using it every now and then on shorts as the complete recording is just a little more than 1min long. The first time was probably the short of my first guitar kit, the PRS style one. Someone actually wanted to trade me a 12 String Martin once for this one. Did you have the chance to try one of the newer ones? Our buddy Krenar has one and he says, even though it's different woods, it's not that different from mine. However, I haven't had the chance of trying one myself. But I'm glad I got mine when I did. It's a great alternative to my Martin, to take with me where I wouldn't want an expensive guitar. Cheers, Martin

Thanks a lot. It's a kit from guitarkitworld.com It's stained with water-based stain, and then I've put a Tru-Oil finish over it. However, I slipped while scraping the binding and was trying to fix it once more with Tru-Oil, but I couldn't get it back as shiny as I already had it. Until I gave up, I certainly applied 150 layers, which I sanded down a couple of times. In the end, I've used a 1K poly lacquer from a spray can on top of the once more sanded back Tru-Oil finish. The neck and headstock still have a Tru-Oil finish. It is really hard to say how much time it cost me in the end, but it was probably 3-4 times as much as my other kits... I would guess something around 200h, if not more... Pretty much everything that could go wrong went wrong on this build, and I had to fix it. Sometimes, multiple times... Cheers, Martin

@Ryan-Hall Thanks a lot Ryan, it's far from perfect and has finish flaws that would not be acceptable for a production model. But for a homemade build, I think it's fine. She already played it, even though it is definitely huge for her. I would love to build a few guitars for people in the community, you included, but I would need a kit manufacturer sponsoring me and the people who want them to cover the shipping costs. Because that alone would already be 400$ without taxes to the US. -_- Out of curiosity, what would be your choice of finish? Cheers, Martin

Have you tried it, or are you going only by specs? I can measure it for you once more if you want, as I need to change strings on it anyway, but the 335 doesn't feel that thin to me at all. I have an older Epi 339 with the D shaped slim taper, which feels a lot thinner. I also do not like that profile as it's too thin for me and not comfortable to me with the thumb over. The 335 feels a lot like the regular C shape that's also on my American Standard Tele. But I totally understand. Neck shape and dimensions are probably the most important thing to me on a guitar. It's where I fall in love with it or not. But for some strange reason, I noticed I can't pinpoint it on a particular one for me. Some guitars just feel right, and I have a couple of them with different shapes and dimensions that do and played others with seemingly similar ones that didn't. Cheers, Martin

@@LMGuitarCorner I didn't try it myself. Not an easy guitar to get your hands on. Only relying on specs. My experience with Gibson semi-hollow or thinline types are Epiphones. I had a Casino Worn which had the so called 60s Slim Tapper C neck and it was a bit too thin. I think it's the the modern Epi neck now. The guitar was a 2022. Apart from that it's a Korean 80s Epi which although was not thin, the nut was too narrow, so it was a no go as well. My Gibson SG has a very nice neck. But the dimensions on the Gibson website are chunkier than the dimensions listed there for this guitar.

@@ltvddvtl I'll measure it for you then on my 2015. I'm not 100% trusting the measurements on the Gibson page. The differences in the dimension listed for the 2015 and 2016 were either not measurable or small enough to be measuring errors on my end... Cheers, Martin

@@ltvddvtl The 2015 is absolutely flawless. We're talking about finish flaws of the 2016 at around 13:28. At 13:56 we also have a closeup of the exact thing you mention, where the wood seems not to be painted all the way up until the binding, but it's extremely small and not really noticeable and definitely not something that's making it play worse. It's under the finish, so you can't feel anything. The 2016 is my backup I have stored at my dad's house, just in case something happens to my 2015, so it does not get played at all. The 2015 is my #1 guitar and I'm certainly playing it at least 3h a week if not more. I recently built myself an SG Kit guitar which is also fighting for that #1 spot, that's why it's "only" 3h. Until I've finished that one, I almost exclusively played the 2015. Cheers, Martin

Hi Carsten! Cool - hab den Workshop bei Chris richtig genossen. Wir haben übrigens noch ein Video dazu auf dem Kanal (2 Songs). Warum die Pro? Letztlich sind es die Dinge, die du erwähnt hast. Ich wollte seit Jahren ne Revstar und die in Crisp Gold hat mir am besten gefallen. Ich war auch immer wieder von ner 50s Goldtop mit P90s angetan. Von daher war die Farbe ein zentraler Treiber hinter der Kaufentscheidung. Hinzu kommt, dass ich von japanischer Qualität überzeugt bin und aufgrund anderer Hobbys praktisch seit Kindestagen Japan-Fan bin, in meiner Sammlung aber keine einzige Made in Japan hatte. Da ich es mir leisten konnte und wollte, hab ich mir dann direkt die Professional geholt, sprich die Gitarre, die ich wirklich haben wollte - ohne Abstriche oder Kompromisse. Ist im Prinzip so wie wenn du eigentlich ne Core PRS willst, dir dann aber nur ne SE holst (Preisunterschied ist da natürlich Faktor 4 und nicht 'nur' 2, aber du verstehst sicher meinen Punkt). Da muss wohl noch eine Sitar mit P90 PU her 🙂Um auch etwas Goldenes in den Händen zu halten, habe ich mir eine Sire Larry Carlton L7V mit P90 PU dazu geholt. Aber eher, um zwischen Yamaha und Sire zu wählen. Die L7V ist toll, die Revstar ist toller, finde ich, aber nicht ganz so hübsch. Wenn ich die Zeit für Entscheidungen und Netzrecherche in Übezeit umwandeln würde, wäre das der Kunst sehr zuträglich. Ansonsten gibt es hier schon eine MIJ Tokai LP und eine Yamaha FGX.

I should have mentioned, that it's still better to use new components, but I thought it's obvious. However, I haven't had problems ever. But I'm using a suction pump to clean everything first and have a really good soldering station. Cheers, Martin

@LMGuitarCorner will martin not all of us have access to a suction pump and a soldering station. They just have a soldering iron. In some flux, so as far as d sovereign old components just make sure you don't overheat them because you're gonna get clicky pots..

Yeah I've had the urge to get a 50's style LP Goldtop with P90s for so long. This is checks so many boxes. Obviously, it's not a Les Paul, but my favorite body shape is usually some kind of Strat or double cut. The Dark Night Tele is also an amazing guitar, I really love the Am Pro II series. @@LMGuitarCorner I couldn’t because I travelled. The dealer paid for the repairs out of his own pocket- a real class act and Yamaha could have offered me any discount but they refused. Just terrible Japanese style service!

I never had any issues with Japanese companies, and I've owned a couple of Japanese cars (still have 2 Mazdas). When it comes to instruments, I don't have a lot of experience, but unless you purchased it directly in Japan, you should probably blame the poor service quality of the regional Yamaha rep (ie Yamaha Europe or America). The qc issues with the guitar should have also been detected by the store owner. A guitar in such a bad condition should not be sold to customers, but returned directly to the distributor... Edit: nevertheless, a guitar with serious qc problems should not leave the factory! I'm really glad that my Revstar Professional is flawless.

@@LMGuitarCorner I agree. It came originally packaged from Yamaha and the dealer stated that the thin Yamaha margins won’t allow them to open and check guitars. Yes the guitar should have never left the plant but once it did it was the Yamaha poor customer service that really turned me off. I worked for Nissan and Subaru and own many Japanese guitars and drive only Japanese cars but the but the fact is Japanese companies are very rigid and that customer service is not their strength…

@@LMGuitarCorner I could not because I had to travel. Every brand has some problems but what really turned me off is that they seemed very familiar with the problem, they knew I won’t return it and they just didn’t care one bit or offered me even the slightest discount!!
